WWE 'SummerSlam': Cody Rhodes defeats John Cena, Brock Lesnar returns
Cena and Rhodes battled each other in a hard-hitting Street Fight to close out the two-night wrestling extravaganza on Sunday. SummerSlam took place in front of a sold-out crowd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Cena, who has spent his final year as a competitor in WWE as a villain, turned back the clock and returned to his more heroic, virtuous days, much to the crowd's delight. The bout was a rematch from April's WrestleMania 41.
The highly-competitive match featured Cena and Rhodes brawling throughout the arena and using various weapons. Cena grabbed crutches from injured NBA star Tyree Haliburton, who was sitting ringside, and used them to attack Rhodes.
Rhodes pulled out all the stops, including the use of the Piledriver, a historically banned move in WWE. Cena later responded by sending Rhodes through the announcer's table with an Attitude Adjustment.
The highlight of the match came when Cena carried Rhodes through the elevator shaft that the American Nightmare uses during his entrance. Cena, after getting off the elevator, slammed Rhodes down hard onto the entrance ramp with another Attitude Adjustment.
Rhodes, starting to grow frustrated, removed the bottom turnbuckle from the ring and used the metal plating to attack Cena. Rhodes performed three Cross Rhodes moves in a row, but Cena still wouldn't stay down.
Cena later delivered an Avalanche Attitude Adjustment from the second rope, but it wasn't enough. Rhodes sent Cena through a table, followed by one final Cross Rhodes, to win the match and become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
Cena and Rhodes congratulated each other after the match. Cena was cheered loudly and was showered with gratitude from the crowd as the wrestling veteran competed in his last SummerSlam event.
As Cena took in the love from the WWE audience, Brock Lesnar made a surprise return and made his way to the ring wearing a dark cowboy hat.
Lesnar, without saying anything, immediately attacked Cena and knocked him out with an F5. Lesnar, an old rival of Cena's, was last seen in 2023.

"I absolutely adore all of my body of work. I love it. But, this is the first show that is complete escapism. There is nothing in it that is polarizing or upsetting," Morris, 28, told UPI in a recent Zoom interview. "That absolutely has its place on TV and film. I really think some of my favorite shows are very polarizing and important," she added. "We live in a time where it's really complicated right now and to be able to have anyone turn on the telly and watch a show about librarians saving the world and using a magic door -- if it brings them even a minute of relaxation and enjoyment and you can just get lost in the silliness -- I think that is so valuable." Morris plays Lysa, a scientist who inherits a castle in Belgrade that serves as annex to a library where supernatural artifacts from throughout history are stored. She teams up with Vikram (Callum McGowan), a 19th-century librarian, who is bewildered to find himself transported to 2025, Connor (Bluey Robinson), a conspiracy-theory podcaster, and Charlie (Jessica Green), a highly skilled fighting machine, to protect the world from powerful magic that has been mistakenly unleashed. In addition to being a fun watch, the family-friendly show also emphasizes the importance of teamwork and knowledge. "These fans are clever. They are honorary librarians and I think you can see that in the scripts that the writers, everybody involved, are so passionate," Morris said. "Some of the stuff my character has to say is bonkers," she added. "It is a real challenge to be able to say it as if she has said it a million times. I must look like a crazy person in my flat when I'm rehearsing my lines because I am determined to make it seem effortless and I hope it comes across as such." The actress said she wants viewers, especially young ones, to see a team who uses their brains and hearts, instead of physical might, to vanquish evil. "These characters are superheroes -- ones that are incredibly smart and incredibly empathetic," she said. Morris said Devlin -- whose credits include Independence Day and The Ark -- is a wonderful collaborator and always has time to discuss characters and story-lines. "He is so ready to meet [questions] with just as much curiosity and, as an actor, that is all you can ask for," she added. "Sometimes, you want to suggest something or you want to ask why we do a certain thing, especially because the world is so big. There have been three films and a whole series before us," she explained. "Dean Is the one that knows that better than anyone. So, to have him around on set and be able to pick his brain about making the show the best it can be is really, really amazing." The franchise started in 2004 with a trilogy of TV movies starring Noah Wyle. Wylie served as an executive producer on both The Next Chapter and The Librarians, a TV series that followed the movies and ran for four seasons from 2014 through 2017.

Report: Details Behind Seth Rollins' SummerSlam Cash-In
Seth Rollins now has two incredibly memorable Money in the Bank cash-ins in his career following Night One of WWE SummerSlam. Following last night's SummerSlam main event that saw CM Punk defeat Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship, Seth Rollins made his return to WWE programming by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase and becoming World Champion once again. There has been much speculation surrounding Rollins' supposed injury following Saturday Night's Main Event last month. We now have more information on the series of events that led to last night's cash-in. According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), the entire situation with Rollins was kept incredibly close to the vest. Starting with Saturday Night's Main Event, Rollins was penciled in to win the match against LA Knight. This was done to help the moment come across as legitimate to many people backstage who weren't in the know. Rollins even kept some close to him in the dark who expressed concern to Sapp over the weekend about the injury and not hearing back from him following the incident. Seth appeared backstage on crutches at Evolution the following night to sell the injury. Last night's cash-in wasn't on any of the SummerSlam internal rundowns. And yesterday afternoon, many in the company didn't expect it to happen. As the night went on, Rollins emerged backstage during the main event, and things began to shift. It is also believed that WWE Unreal director Chris Weaver was backstage for this moment. The docuseries is planned for a second season next year. CM Punk Mocks Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman For ‘Coldplay' Moment At WWE SummerSlam
At least CM Punk found it in himself to crack a joke after Seth Rollins ruined his weekend. Seth Rollins pulled off the 'ruse of the century' on Saturday night, as he returned from a knee 'injury' to cash in his Money In The Bank contract after Punk beat Gunther for the world title. Rollins and Heyman embraced in the ring, with Heyman hugging Rollins around his waist. Now, CM Punk has recovered from the loss long enough to post the following dig at Rollins and Heyman on his Instagram Stories, comparing Heyman's hug to the now-infamous Coldplay concert kiss cam scandal. Punk captioned his post, 'Not baby girl coded. All ham sandwiches.' 'Baby girl coded' is slang for a guy who isn't super masculine, but has characteristics typically associated with femininity, like a 'little spoon' in a relationship. The ham sandwiches line is also a reference to them 'hamming it up' or overacting for the cameras. What happened at the Coldplay concert? The Coldplay concert scandal took place two weeks ago at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. Former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron was shown on camera cuddling up to his company's head of HR, Kristin Cabot. The problem with that, aside from a potential company policy issue with dating within the workplace, is that Byron is married to another woman. Byron immediately ducked out of the camera frame, and he has since resigned from the company. Coldplay's Chris Martin even joked about the awkward situation, speculating that the couple was having an affair. The incident has resulted in many spoofs since then, including the Philadelphia Phillies Phanatics mascots recreating the moment. It seems possible that Heyman had this in mind when embracing Rollins. However, there's no doubt about the intent of Punk's post.
