Thane court sentences youth to 20 years RI for sexual assault of 15-year-old girl
THANE: A Thane court on Monday sentenced a 24-year-old Diva resident to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in 2022.
Special Pocso judge D S Deshmukh observed that accused Abhishek Jaiswal's actions demonstrated his disturbing "mental state".
A juvenile was also involved. His case was referred to the Bhiwandi juvenile court.

Jaiswal ran a water tanker business. According to the prosecution, the victim's sister ordered water from him. When he arrived with a water tanker, the victim was sent to attend to him. Later that night, she returned crying and said Jaiswal, along with the juvenile, forcibly took her to an open space in Diva, raped her and fled.
During the trial, six witnesses were examined. After being found guilty, Jaiswal, represented by counsel Reena Korde, said he had no prior criminal record and is his family's sole earner. Special public prosecutor Rekha Hivarale highlighted the heinous nature of the offence.

Uncle, neighbour arrested for rape-murder day after minor girl's body found in Tripura forest
Around twenty-four hours after the body of a minor was recovered from a forest area near her house in West Tripura district, her maternal uncle and a neighbour were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping and killing the girl, the police said in Agartala. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, an officer from the local police station said: 'We have arrested two persons accused of being involved in the crime,' and added that they will produce both the accused before a local court with a plea to remand them in police custody. Officers said the girl used to live with her brothers at their house which was located close to her maternal uncle's residence. According to the police, the murder is likely to have taken place on the night of Friday, though further investigation is underway to determine the exact time and cause of the death. 'We received information on Monday that a body was found in the jungle. Our police team reached the spot and found that the girl's relatives took her body to her house. We started our investigation from there,' an officer said. The girl's brother filed a complaint at the local police station on Sunday on the basis of which the police lodged a case under section 103/1 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 8 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. During the primary investigation, the police found no injury marks on the deceased girl's body except for some blood on the lower limbs. An officer said, 'She may have been strangulated as per our preliminary probe. Her maternal uncle noticed the body first and informed the locals. Our investigation is on.'

Minor drugged with spiked drink, raped in UP field as 3 boys watched; friend beaten
A minor girl was raped by a man in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district after the accused gave her a spiked drink. The incident took place on the evening of July 10 when the girl had gone to visit her ailing to a complaint lodged by the victim's mother, at around 9 pm, her daughter and her friend were standing on the road. Farman, a man who allegedly knew the victim's friend, arrived there with three unknown accused gave both the girls a cold drink laced with some intoxicating substance. After drinking the cold drink, both the girls fell unconscious. Farman and his companions took the victim to a deserted field and raped her. After committing the crime, both the girls were left in an unconscious state at a hotel on Noorpur-Moradabad learning about her daughter's condition the next day, the victim's mother immediately lodged a complaint at the police on her complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 70 (2) and 123 BNS (Indian Justice Code), and sections 5G/6 of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) her statement to the police, the victim said that her friend had known Farman before. She further said that when Farman misbehaved with her, two other boys were also present there. Apart from this, Farman and another person present also beat up the victim's was arrested on July 14 and during the investigation, the name of his neighbour, Nazakat, also surfaced in this crime.
