Freddie Prinze Jr. reveals the secret behind his 23-year marriage with Sarah Michelle Gellar
Freddie Prinze Jr. reflected on the secret behind his 23-year marriage to actress Sarah Michelle Gellar. During a recent interview with Variety, the 49-year-old actor candidly opened up about how he and Gellar, 48, have kept their relationship strong in Hollywood. "Marriage is hard no matter what business you're in," the "She's All That" star said. "What works for us might not work for everyone else." He continued, "We work at it. I'm not perfect. She's not perfect. We piss each other off, but we respect one another. We were friends first." "Maybe that's the secret? It wasn't just "Oh, she's hot, he's hot — let's hook up," he added. "But I know people who've done it the other way, and their relationships are just as strong as mine." Gellar and Prinze Jr. first met while filming the hit 1997 horror movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer." However, sparks didn't immediately fly between the two. In a 2001 interview with People, Prinze Jr. admitted that the future couple "really didn't dig each other" at first. "Then one day I gave her a ride to the gym," he said. "We talked on the way up, and she was a cool chick." The pair became friends, but their relationship didn't turn romantic until three years later. During a joint interview with People Now in 2020, Gellar and Prinze Jr. explained how they accidentally went on a first date. "We were friends for a very long time. We'd had many dinners before. And we were supposed to go with someone else, and the third person didn't make it out and we decided to still go," the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum recalled. "We were just two people at dinner catching up," Gellar continued. "We had a long car ride and a long dinner and things just happened." Prinze Jr. told the outlet that he completely lost interest in seeing other women after his first date with Gellar. "I didn't go on dates with other girls, nor did I even want to pursue dates with other girls," he said. The couple announced their engagement in 2001 and tied the knot a year later in Mexico when Gellar was 24 and Prinze was 26. Prinze Jr. and Gellar, who also co-starred in 2002's "Scooby-Doo" and the 2004 sequel "Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed," welcomed their first child, daughter Charlotte Grace, in 2009. In 2012, Gellar gave birth to their son, Rocky James. While speaking with Variety, Prinze Jr. explained how he treasured his family life with Gellar and their children. "I just love my kids," he said. "My daughter is away for the summer, and I hate it. I like hanging out with my son — he's really funny. I love my wife, man. I married her for a reason." During a December 2024 interview with Fox News Digital, Gellar weighed in on the key to an enduring union. She also expressed her view that changes in societal values had led to the decline of long-lasting relationships. "I think everything takes work in you, whether it's a friendship or a work relationship or a marriage," the "Dexter: Original Sin" star said. "You have to put the work in," she continued. "And we live in an extremely disposable society now." "Your phone breaks, you don't fix it. You get a new one," Gellar added. "And I think that's a lot of the attitude toward relationships." "And I don't know, maybe separate bathrooms," the actress joked. Prinze Jr. is currently starring in the 2025 version of "I Know What You Did Last Summer," which was released on Friday. The actor reprised his role as Ray Bronson in the legacy sequel to the first movie in the four-part franchise. The couple's former co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt also returned to play the original film's protagonist, Julie James. Hewitt and Prinze Jr. previously reunited in the 1998 sequel "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." Gellar, whose character Helen Shivers was killed off in the first film, made a cameo appearance in the new installment during a dream sequence. "I Know What You Did Last Summer" was released on June 18.

All That's Known About Alexander Skarsgård and Girlfriend Tuva Novotny's Very Private Love Story
THE RUNDOWN Alexander Skarsgård is known for playing enigmatic, unpredictable characters—from Eric Northman in True Blood to Lukas Matsson in Succession. When it comes to his real life, the award-winning actor prefers to keep things quiet. That discretion extends to his relationship with Swedish actress and director Tuva Novotny. While it's unclear when exactly they started dated, the pair was first romantically linked in 2022 and have since welcomed a child. Skarsgård confirmed the news of his baby in March 2023 after he was seen out with his firstborn in November 2022. Below, everything to know about Novotny, Skarsgård's partner and mother of his child. Novotny, 45, began acting professionally at age 16 , but her exposure to the arts started far earlier. 'I wasn't pushed; I was inspired,' she told Vogue Scandinavia in 2024, recalling how she directed plays with her siblings and grew up immersed in music, painting, and theater. Since then, she has racked up an extensive list of acting credits, including roles in Eat Pray Love, Annihilation, and more. She's also made a name for herself behind the camera. Her film Blind Spot (2018) explored mental health and family trauma. The project—the first film she has directed—earned her the New Talent Grand Prix at Copenhagen's CPH PIX Festival that year. 'Blind Spot refers to what we don't see in our everyday life,' Novotny said in a 2018 interview with the Golden Globes. 'Where we can be surprised about what is going on in people's lives, where they go around smiling and pretending that everything is fine, and they are actually having a very difficult time. That is the blind spot that I am referring to.' Novotny had built up directing experience before doing the project, working in TV: 'I always knew I wanted to direct, but I wanted to make sure that I was [ready] for it,' she explained. 'Ten years ago, some friends of mine asked if I could direct a few episodes of a Norwegian TV series, and they brought me onto their next project. This was very good as a self-esteem enhancer. And after those TV series, I decided that either I do TV for the rest of my life or it is now that I decide to do my own things. I took a year off and started writing a couple of scripts. [I] wrote a series for a Norwegian channel so it kind of happened organically but also at a point where I felt it was the right moment.' She went on to direct more films: Britt-Marie Was Here (2019) and Diorama (2022). 'After Blind Spot and Britt Marie Was Here, I felt safer about directing small or bigger-budget movies and taking on new creative challenges,' Novotny told Variety in 2019. Novotny is the daughter of Czech director and writer David Jan Novotný and Swedish actress and artist Barbro Hedström. Though Novotny's early exposure to the creative world was significant, she told Vogue Scandinavia that her career path felt natural. 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree,' she said. In April 2022, Novotny appeared pregnant at the Swedish ELLE Fashion Awards, though she did not publicly confirm the news at the time. Months later in November, the couple was photographed in New York City pushing a stroller, adding fuel to speculation they welcomed their first child. While at the Succession season 4 premiere in March 2023, Skarsgård confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight, saying, 'Thank you very much,' when congratulated. He then held up a stuffed animal he had just been gifted, adding, 'I got this on the red carpet.' A few days later, he offered a more specific confirmation to Swedish outlet Aftonbladet, revealing that they had a baby boy. 'We have a son who is eight months old now,' Skarsgård said. In a May 2025 interview with The Times, Skarsgård reflected on how parenthood changed his lifestyle. 'It's been an adjustment for someone who's a selfish asshole like myself,' he said. ''I'm so used to being able to go somewhere on a whim, take a job, like, 'Oh, seven months in the Kalahari Desert? No problem.' Now your priorities obviously change, and you have to take other people's needs into consideration. It takes a lot more planning to make it work because I still love to work, but it's about finding that balance.'' He also referenced his role in helping to raise Novotny's children from a previous relationship: 'I have two teenage stepdaughters, so it's not like they can come with me and be out of school for six months.' Despite her extensive resumé, Novotny tends to avoid media attention. 'I don't see myself as a public person,' she said in her 2024 Vogue Scandinavia profile. 'For many years, I wouldn't do interviews; I wouldn't watch my own stuff.' She added, 'My job is public and then what I do outside of work is super private.' Vogue Scandinavia wrote that Novotny previously had an Instagram account for work but has since deleted it. Novotny has spoken about balancing her creative ambitions with motherhood. 'It's super important that you keep yourself intact, and that's difficult being a parent,' she told Vogue Scandinavia. Noting that she has 'always worked through parenthood,' Novotny added, 'Work for me is a place where I feel inspired and I meet people—there's that social aspect. Bringing that back home is a good thing for parenting—for me, at least. Only being a parent sometimes can be claustrophobic.' She also acknowledged the changes in the industry since she began acting as a teenager in the '90s. 'It was a different time,' she said. 'It was sexy times, and they wanted me to be sexy.'

'Untamed' Season 2: Plot, Characters, Release Date, Location
Hands up if you wandered on Netflix this weekend, saw something moody-looking called "Untamed" lurking in the top ten (it's currently #1, for what it's worth), binged it, and then made it your entire personality. SAME, happy to be here. While the Eric Bana-led crime thriller was pretty much tied up in a bow, there's definitely room for more unsolved National Parks mysteries. And considering how popular season one has been, the chances of Netflix green-lighting a second season of Untamed seems extremely high. Here's what we know so far! STREAM UNTAMED Not yet, but the show literally just dropped so give them time. Just keep in mind that Untamed is technically a limited series, meaning Netflix initially positioned it as a one-off. But things change! Not a ton, but there's been some teasing. Eric Bana told Variety, "We spoke about what would happen to Kyle after this, in theory. So you never know." Meanwhile, Lily Santiago was slightly more direct to TV Insider, saying "In a season 2, I want more solving of murders. Honestly, I would love for her to get called up to go to a different place, like bring me to a mountain in Hawaii. I'm hoping that it's new murder, new location, wilderness challenges, and new things to learn. Because I really love Naya's mind. I love watching how she figures out new terrain." Probably not Yosemite National Park. For starters, Turner has officially moved out of his home there, and he's also been suspended from the force. But showrunner Elle Smith noted in TV Insider that she'd like the show to "go to different national parks and they do travel from park to park and case to case and things like that. So I think that's what was interesting to us, and if we got the opportunity to do it again, it would be getting to explore a different park, a different case. We would do this forever if they let us, but we'll see. We'll see how many adventures Turner has left in him." Obviously Eric Bana would return as Turner, and it would be great to see Lily Santiago come back as Nay (she seems pretty settled in Yosemite, but could always move!). However, assuming the show's second season does take place in a different National Park, it doesn't seem likely that the rest of the supporting cast would show up. Season one started filming in June 2024, and premiered in July 2025. Meaning, it took about a year from start to finish. Assuming a second season starts production this year, we could be looking at a Summer/Fall 2026 premiere date. After exposing a casual drug ring inside the caves of Yosemite National Park, Turner has a gut feeling that something still isn't right about Lucy Cook's death. So he takes it upon himself to do some investigating (despite being suspended) and discovers that Lucy's real dad is Chief Paul Souter—who placed her in an abusive foster home when she was a kid. Turner also discovers that Lucy started bribing Chief Souter once she returned to Yosemite as an adult, and that Souter shot her in the leg before she jumped off El Capitan. On top of all that, Chief Souter takes his own life in the final moments of the show, AND we find out that Turner's ex-wife secretly arranged to have their son's killer murdered. Some pretty major twists, so next season can't come soon enough.
