Coronation Street lines up dramatic exit for character
As James packs his bags and prepares to leave for America, will he take baby Laila with him for good this time?
Whilst looking after baby Laila, James is forced to make a huge decision about his future when his phone rings with news about a job back in America.
Confirming that he's still interested in the role, James packs his bags and gets ready to leave.
Friends again 🥺 ❤️ #Corrie pic.twitter.com/t6g3rBWlod
"James' return to Weatherfield hasn't quite been as smooth as he'd hoped," our Corrie insider says.
"With so much drama and bad blood now between him and his sister, and the rest of the Bailey family stuck in the middle, he's eager to get away and back to his life in the States. The question is, will he take baby Laila with him and rip her away from her family and birth mother?"
Leading up to James' decision to leave, there's conflict among the Baileys after Dee-Dee and James meet with a family facilitator.
"After Dee-Dee had Laila christened behind James' back, he's gunning for legal custody," Digital Spy reports.
"At the meeting for the Special Guardianship Order, James is nervous, despite the fact that Dee-Dee has been adamant that she doesn't want to be a mum to Laila.
"It remains to be seen whether James' conflicted sister will actually turn up to their meeting or not – but Ed has to plead with his kids to clear the air at breakfast the following morning."
It's not all doom and gloom for Dee-Dee, though, as later in the week she takes on a new client at work, only to discover that it is in fact, Ollie.

"When Dee-Dee sees Ollie again, she can't help but smile," says our insider.
"There's an undeniable spark between them, and now that they'll be getting closer at Barlow Legal Services, there could be a well-deserved romance on the cards for Dee-Dee with her mysterious new client."
As James says, see you later on the Street once again. Will Dee-Dee's daughter be taken far away from her before she has the chance to fight for her?
Oh we just love the drama!
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.

What is wrong with Mary's hand in Emmerdale? Mystery bandage sparks concern
Emmerdale's Mary Goskirk appeared on screen on the ITV soap on Friday night with a bandage across her hand and wrist, sparking concern with characters about her injury Mary Goskirk on Emmerdale, played by actress Louise Jameson, sparked concern on Friday night after appearing onscreen for the first time in a while. As she appeared, it was noticeable that she had a bandage wrapped around her hand and lower arm. Mary kept holding her hand up and was fiddling with the bandage, not really able to use the hand while serving behind the bar of The Woolpack. It was while serving customer Jacob Gallagher that he got concerned for the character. The medical student asked Mary what had happened to her hand, and how she had injured herself. Mary explained that she'd fallen down the last couple of steps of the staircase at home, no doubt hitting or landing on the arm. She didn't say specially what the injury was or if it was broken or sprained. What she did say though was that she was fine after the fall, and would need a few weeks of rest before she could get the bandages off. Jacob appeared alarmed though, offering to take a look at the injury. READ MORE: Emmerdale John Sugden clues tease villain will finally be exposed very soon Mary downplayed it all though and declined his offer saying it was not necessary. She said it was "alright" and just needed a few weeks to heal, before thanking him. She seemed keen to brush it under the carpet while it was clear Jacob was worried. It wasn't made clear if Mary went to hospital or a doctor to get it checked out, or if she bandaged it up herself. It's likely nothing to worry about and not part of a storyline, but fans will no doubt be questioning the random scene. Perhaps actress Louise sustained an injury away from the show and it was written into the episode. This often happens, and just recently on Coronation Street Kit Green actor Jacob Roberts had surgery on his leg and it was seemingly written into the show. There have been many other instances over the years where an injury or something else is written in. Not too long ago recently murdered character Nate Robinson was shown wearing a sling on his arm after an injury, while it was actually linked to a real-life injury or operation. Mary's scenes in the pub saw the moment Jacob Gallagher and Sarah Sugden's engagement was announced. Mary was quick to congratulate the couple, while Victoria Sugden was surprised by her ex and her niece's big news. Victoria admitted she was stunned given Sarah was recently with Kammy and they'd not been back together long, leading to Jacob saying it felt right as he knew he was with the right person. "I'm in a hospice. I probably won't be here next week. I'm fine. I've got so many drugs in me, I can't feel a thing." He reassured listeners on his website that he was comfortable and being treated well. Though his voice sounded sore, James insisted that there was no pain and that it simply "wouldn't work" as it once did. "A lot of people get really upset when someone is going to die," continued James. "I'm the person who's going to die and I'm quite relaxed about it." The couple admitted they have been crying a lot, reading messages and voice notes from people that have praised James' contribution to their lives. He admitted he was "very upset and worried about Nadine", but she told him that she would seek comfort in all the brilliant memories they made together, such as trips to Cornwall and Antigua, and breakfast at London's five-star Savoy hotel. James' humour certainly hasn't deserted him. While explaining that there is a bathtub at the hospice that he is craned in and out of, he said the staff explained how Nadine can join him if she wanted to and that the lights can be dimmed, leading him to joke: "I began to wonder what sort of place this is." When it was time to say goodbye for a final time, James said to Nadine: "We've had the best time together haven't we. I love you." He added: "Thank you for being a listener I hope it helps in some way. Who knows what is next so I can only say au revoir." James Whale reveals he's got weeks to live in emotional update on cancer battle, saying 'I spend a lot of time crying' James has been courageously battling stage 4 kidney cancer since 2020. He and Nadine, who James has been married to since 2021, have been keeping his fans up to date with his health on his Tales of the Whales podcast. In his previous upload, James told how he was struggling to breathe, talk and think - and couldn't hear very well. He also admitted his speech has become very slow and he is forgetful, while suffering with painful pressure sores. On the emotional recording, he said: "The most tiring thing I found… I still can't hear very well, which is more frustrating than anything else. "I've become very slow in my speech and then forgetful and everything else." Talking about his sores, he said: 'I'm tootling along, which is all you can do really, trying to get my breathing sorted and the mark on my bum.' He humbly asked: "People have to go through a lot worse, don't they? Do they?" The poignant conversation concluded: "Anyway. I don't feel I can go on much more... "The other thing is, my energy levels have gone completely. "So I wish everybody well, and let us hope we go through these phases as quickly as we can." The star recently celebrated his "last birthday" surrounded by loved ones after stopping his cancer treatment. Back in May, the TALK radio host revealed his long-running programme could be coming to an end as he reached the final stage of his battle. One of the country's most revered radio personalities, James has been in the business for 50 years and, in 2023, received the first ever TRIC Recognition Award for his outstanding work. He's helped countless others too, having launched the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer in 2006 - now known as Kidney Cancer UK - the nation's leading specialist charity of its kind, after beating the illness two decades ago. 4 The TalkTV presenter - who starred on Celeb BB - shared an emotional health update on his podcast Credit: Getty

Inside Jack P. Shepherd's wedding: Coronation Street star 'will have no expense spared as he prepares to tie the knot with Hanni Treweek at Manchester Cathedral'
Jack P. Shepherd and his fiancée Hanni Treweek are set to marry this week and it will reportedly be a 'no expense spared' affair. The actor and his partner, who was a colleague of Jack's as a storyline writer and researcher on Coronation Street, will reportedly die the knot at Manchester Cathedral. According to The Sun, many of Jake's Corrie co-stars will be in attendance at the wedding on Saturday. 'Jack and Hanni are having their big white wedding at Manchester Cathedral on Saturday,' a source said. 'They have gone all out to make sure it's their dream day and there has been no expensed spared.' 'It's a very grand setting getting wed at the cathedral, and it will be packed with guests, including many of Jack's Corrie co-stars. 'They have hired top Manchester security service Capricorn to make sure everything goes smoothly on the day and after the ceremony, everyone will head to the five-star Lowry hotel for a lavish after party.' Jack, who won Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, previously revealed he took part in the show in order to pay for the wedding. It comes after Hanni got wedding ready during a girls' day out at The Ivy restaurant for her hen party earlier this month. Hanni looked stunning in a high-neck white lace mini-dress as she danced the night away to live music. It came after she enjoyed lunch and cocktails at The Ivy, where she posed for snaps with her pals and drank from a giant 'Bride' straw - with her hens all wearing Jack masks. Taking to her Instagram Story on Sunday, Hanni also revealed that she and Jack had been at a lesson for their first dance, as she shared a mirror selfie of the pair in a studio captioned: 'Hungover but dancing through as Mrs Shepherd to be.' She captioned her hen party snaps: 'The non hen party party, two weeks before the wedding. 25 years of a special friendship with these beautiful girlies, how lucky are we. 'I love you all so much, thank you for throwing me a non hen party party it was perfect. The next time I see you I'll be walking down the aisle.' Back in June, Hanni shared a sweet post about her husband-to-be as they celebrated a year since getting engaged. Hanni shared a sweet tribute to her husband as she counted down the days to the nuptials. Sharing a collection of throwback snaps from their trip to the Serengeti where he asked her to be his wife, Hanni wrote: '365 days of being your Fiancée. 51 days until we become Husband & Wife. 'Looking back at the most special memories with you, Tanzania will always hold a special place in my heart ⛺️❤️ Happy one year anniversary. What a magical year it's been ✨.' Resharing the post on his Instagram Story, Jack wrote: 'Happy one year anniversary @hannitreweek. I'm so lucky to call you my future wife.' At the time, the couple posed for loved-up snaps in their safari getups to announce the happy news on social media. Flashing her sparkling engagement ring, Hannah beamed for the camera before kissing her new fiancé. Captioning the snaps, she gushed: '05.06.24 I said YES to forever!!!' Jack and Hanni have been dating since 2017, after meeting on the soap when she worked in the press office. She later became a storyliner on the ITV show, before quitting to work as a fashion influencer. Despite being colleagues, their romance actually began when Jack impressed Hanni at a mutual friend's wedding. Speaking to OK! Magazine in 2020, Jack recalled: 'Then our mutual friends got married and we were both guests at the wedding. 'We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it.' The duo then later bumped into each other once again in a Sainsbury's, which led to an exchange of texts and a blossoming romance. He told The Daily Star: 'I texted her afterwards and said 'that was awkward' and she told me she thought she looked a mess and then we started texting from there. 'I actually thought she looked fit – I just saw the girl I fancy wearing Lycra! We quickly went on our first date and we just clicked.'
