Historic College Football Rivalry Gets Major Update
Texas will enter the season as one of the highest ranked teams in the country. While several starters from last year departed for the NFL, the Longhorns are confident in the many new faces poised to break out in 2025.

Quarterback Arch Manning is preparing for his first season as the full-time starter and the hype surrounding him is at an all-time high. Steve Sarkisian's staff also landed a few immediate impact starters via the transfer portal, including former Cal tight end Jack Endris.
While all eyes will be on the Longhorns to see if they can live up to the hype, many Texas players have one primary game in mind. Texas A&M will be traveling to Austin in November to face Texas.
On Thursday, schedule details were released for this historic Lone Star Showdown. The Longhorns will host the Aggies on Friday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. CT. This is a slight change from last season where the two teams played on Saturday.
However, many fans are ecstatic that the game will be on Friday as it was typically always played on the day after Thanksgiving in the past. This matchup will also mark the first time that the Aggies will travel to Austin for a college football game since 2010. It has the potential to break an attendance record.

The Longhorns defeated the Aggies at Kyle Field last season, 17-7. Texas will likely enter the matchup as the favorite, but we're all aware that anything can happen in rivalry games. For now, fans can rejoice in the game taking place on Friday evening.

Astros GM Dana Brown says Isaac Paredes' injury is ‘more severe than we projected'
HOUSTON — The right hamstring strain suffered by Houston Astros All-Star third baseman Isaac Paredes 'is a little bit more severe than we projected,' general manager Dana Brown said on Sunday afternoon, accentuating the team's need for more offense at Thursday's trade deadline. Brown said Paredes is seeking a second opinion and the team should know more about his prognosis within the week. Paredes has not been spotted at Daikin Park since he suffered the injury on July 19 against the Seattle Mariners. Advertisement 'It's tough to be optimistic when you know it's more severe,' Brown told the team's pregame radio show on Sunday. Paredes is one of a major-league high nine Astros position players currently on the injured list. Five of them, including Paredes, were in Houston's Opening Day lineup. Paredes has perhaps the most serious injury of that quintet. Brown's comments on Sunday must prompt serious concern whether Paredes will return this season — a reality that could alter Brown's approach as Thursday's trade deadline approaches. Earlier this week, Brown said the team is 'prioritizing the bats' while also remaining in the market for a starting pitcher. Acquiring both would be an ideal deadline, but Houston's lack of top-end prospect capital will make it difficult to win any bidding wars against other buyers. Few available players would be able to offset Paredes' absence. The pull-happy third baseman leads the Astros' lineup with 19 home runs and trails only injured shortstop Jeremy Peña for the team lead in both on-base percentage and slugging percentage. 'We're still looking for a left-handed bat, so that didn't change,' Brown told the team's pregame radio show on Sunday. 'If it's an infielder, great. If it's an outfielder, we'll take that as well. It really didn't change much, it's just more of a preference to be an infielder now.' Utilityman Mauricio Dubón has started six of the Astros' eight games at third base since Paredes' injury. Second base also remains in flux after Jose Altuve accepted a position change to left field this winter, though Brown has intimated the club could move Altuve back to second base if it acquires an outfielder at the deadline.

Chiefs scouting report: Notre Dame Fighting Irish G Charles Jagusah
Play of the Day No. 153: Zane Durant gets the unblocked TFL, but watch the violence right guard Charles Jagusah inflicts on Jaylen Reed (Notre Dame vs. Penn State, 2024). #POTD The Kansas City Chiefs found a temporary solution to replace left guard Joe Thuney when they decided to kick former second round pick Kingsley Suamataia inside. Suamataia's physical tools and upside give him immense potential, but the Chiefs might be forced to revisit the position in the 2026 NFL draft if things go poorly this year. The 2026 NFL draft features a deep pool of college offensive tackles who project as guards at the professional level. Notre Dame Fighting Irish redshirt sophomore Charles Jagusah falls into that category. Jagusah spent some time at left tackle in 2024, but his best long-term fit is at guard. Jagusah suffered a fractured left humerus in a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) accident in July, which might impact his availability early in the season. However, Notre Dame faces a favorable schedule after clearing early hurdles against Miami and Texas A&M, meaning Jagusah should see action in the College Football Playoff for the second consecutive year. Jagusah is an imposing 6'7", 333 lb. lineman and displays surprisingly light footwork that expands his range in pass protection and helps him easily move and adjust trajectory in space. He's an elite athlete with insane burst and top speed for a player his size. Ordinarily, Jagusah's height would prevent him from playing guard, but he's very flexible and maintains a low pad level while on the interior. Jagusah sets a wide base and drops his hips to anchor against bull rushers. He fits his hands into the defender's pads and drives upward, forcing the pass rusher to lose the leverage battle. Jagusah freely bends through his hips and core, allowing him to contort his upper body to absorb the initial contact before sinking down in his anchor. Jagusah must focus on developing his hand usage. He played left tackle against Ohio State in the College Football Playoff and suffered significant losses against savvy veterans Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau because of poor strike timing and hand placement. Jagusah's explosiveness and movement skills shine in the run game. His frame needs to become denser to generate more displacement at the point of attack. Jagusah's height causes him to overextend in the run game, but more experience should help limit this issue. Jagusah could return to school in 2026 since he's only a redshirt sophomore. If he declares, he projects as a top 64 selection with first round upside.

Joc Pederson returns to Rangers lineup after missing 52 games with a broken hand
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Joc Pederson returned to the Texas Rangers' lineup Sunday after missing 52 games because of a broken right hand. Pederson, who joined Texas on a $37 million, two-year contract during free agency in December, was set to bat fifth as the designated hitter in the series finale against the Atlanta Braves. 'We signed Joc to be part of this offense, a big part of this offense, a guy that can hit in the heart of the order, drive in runs,' Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said before Sunday's game. 'He should make us a better offense." Pederson hit .131 with two home runs and six RBIs in his first 46 games with the Rangers. The two-time World Series champion was at .052 through 19 games after a 0-for-41 slump. The 33-year-old suffered the broken hand on May 24 when he was hit by a pitch, an 87.5 mph cutter from Chicago White Sox right-hander Bryse Wilson. Pederson was to make his 39th start, his 37th at DH, with two at first base. Bochy said Pederson again will primarily be a DH. After being part of the Los Angeles Dodgers' World Series title played at Globe Life Field to end the pandemic-impacted 2020 season, Pederson was with the Braves for their championship the following year. To make room for Pederson on the active roster, infielder/outfielder Michael Helman was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. ___ AP MLB:
