East Kilbride promoted to League Two with victory over Bonnyrigg Rose
Bonnyrigg goalkeeper Paddy Martin did well to keep out a Joao Balde strike in the 24th minute, before Aaron Arnott fired over at the other end.
Kerr Young was unable to make the most of two chances for the hosts midway through the second half, with one header coming off the crossbar and a second being saved by Chris Truesdale.
East Kilbride forward John Robertson subsequently missed with a shot late on as Mick Kennedy's Lowland League champions sealed their ascension and condemned Jonny Stewart's Bonnyrigg to relegation.
While the Kilby make a first entry into the SPFL, the Rose drop out after three seasons.

Caledonian Gladiators appoint club legend as head coach
The East Kilbride basketball franchise have made a permanent appointment Caledonia Gladiators has appointed club legend Jonny Bunyan as its men's head coach for the 2025/26 season. Jonny, 33, who captained the East Kilbride side to their first silverware in two decades when they won the Super League Basketball Trophy final in 2022/23, had been interim head coach at the national club since stepping into the position in January. The team enjoyed an uplift in performances during the ex-Scotland point guard's time in charge, despite it being a challenging campaign, and he has now been appointed into the role as the club seeks to turnaround its fortunes in season 2025/26. Jonny, who played more than 400 times for the club, said: 'I'm really honoured to be taking on the role of head coach at the Caledonia Gladiators - a team I've had such a huge connection with over the years. 'The club means a lot to me and my family – my brother Keith played for the club for six years and also lifted silverware here – and we've supported the club my whole life. It's like a second home for me. 'It was a tough season for our men's team last season, but I'm determined to improve results and see us perform to the levels I know we're capable of. 'The aim now is to get the club back to where it should be – fighting for championships and back up towards the top of the league, putting in good performances in front of our home crowd.' Jonny has been associated with the Gladiators for nearly 15 years and recently enjoyed his testimonial season. The club veteran is second in the all-time standings for club appearances with 424 games. The highlight of his time at the club was winning the Super League Basketball Trophy final in 2022/23 when they defeated Cheshire Phoenix 73-70. His brother Keith, 47, previously won the Super League Basketball Playoffs with the club in 2002/3. Jonny finished his playing career at the Gladiators in January 2024 to move into a community development role with the club as part of their community outreach programme, which he combined with playing for his hometown club Falkirk Fury. Jonny has played for Scotland at every age level, representing his country as they finished fourth at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2018, and he has also been picked for Great Britain squads at under 20 level. Delighted Jonny added: 'We want to fly the banner for basketball in Scotland here. 'It was obviously challenging stepping into the role of head coach for the first time, but I felt like I really grew into the role and got some good performances from the team towards the end of the season. 'I believe I can put my own stamp on the team for the new season and make it into an exciting team our fans can be proud of.' The new head coach hopes to announce new signings within the coming weeks, with recruitment well-underway, and the club will provide updates on those in due course. Tony McDaid, Caledonia Gladiators chief executive, said: 'Everybody at the club has been hugely impressed by Jonny since he stepped into the head coach role earlier this year. 'He has a real command of the dressing room, and we view Jonny as a natural fit for this role longer term. 'We know Jonny is a real fan favourite, and we hope this news will be well received by fans as we look forward to the new season.'

Six-goal Stirling run riot in warm-up test as boss prepares for punishing season
The new-look Binos produced a slick second-half display as they ran in six goals against Bo'ness United - with some of the fresh faces getting on the scoresheet. There was fun in the Bo'ness sun for the Stirling Albion fans as they watched their side romp to an easy win in their latest pre-season test. But boss Alan Maybury says it's all hard work for his players ahead of a season which could bring an extra punishing workload. The Binos headed to Newtown Park to take on Bo'ness United from the Lowland League and after a sticky start where both sides traded goals inside the opening 11 minutes, Albion streaked away to a comfortable 6-1 win. The weekend fixture was part of a pre-season schedule which will continue with matches against Glenrothes and Broxburn in the next week, all as part of plans to be firing for the League Cup group phase and the start of the League Two season on August 2. Maybury told the club's YouTube channel: 'It was a worthwhile exercise. We probably found it a little difficult early on, they pressed high and we had to find a solution in terms of getting out, but it was important that we went through that and found some solutions. 'We played some better football as the first half went on and scored a couple of good goals; the second half the wind really helped us and the plan was always to go 60/30 with the team. 'It's all building in for the season and we have a couple of friendlies before the League Cup, then four matches there and it's still another week after that so it's a long build up to the league. 'With the new SPFL Trust groups as well, if you get through the first phase, you're talking close to 50 games in a season which is a big ask for part-time players so we're just trying to get everyone in the squad up to speed.' An extensive summer revamp at Forthbank has led to excitement in the Binos support about possibly success in the season ahead, with a potent-looking forward line among the areas offering real hope. New arrivals Russell McLean and Ross Cunningham were among those on the scoresheet on Saturday - the latter with a stunning long-range free kick - and Dale Carrick also continued his strong early form with a goal. Maybury admits the strength in depth in the forward areas could present a headache, but admits he doesn't mind the sleepless nights. 'There is a good competition for places in those forward positions and most of them getting on the scoresheet is a really pleasing thing', the Irishman added. 'The summer so far has been good, I think this time last year we had eight players signed, so first thing we wanted to keep the majority of our squad and then we've gone out to recruit a certain type of player which I think we've managed well. '[Kyle] Banner has now come in and played today, there are still one or two coming back from injury and we have [Ross] Cunningham and Russell [McLean] up there who will make a difference. 'Goalscoring wasn't our problem last year but we did lose some goals out the door, so those players will help with that.'

Clyde boss takes 'plenty of positives' from sinking Queen's Park in Glasgow Cup clash
The Bully Wee ran out narrow winners at the Hamilton Community Stadium on Saturday Darren Young reckons there are plenty of positives to take after Clyde made it back-to-back pre-season wins with Saturday's Glasgow Cup victory over Queen's Park. Clyde beat Championship side Spiders 1-0, courtesy of a strike from former Queen's Park man Scott Williamson at the Hamilton Community Stadium. That followed on from a 2-0 win at Lowland League club Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill, with Redfern and a trialist on target. Clyde will continue their programme at Kelty Hearts on Tuesday, ahead of their Premier Sports Cup kick-off. On Saturday's win, boss Young said: 'It was a worthwhile run-out. We were struggling for bodies – we've got a few boys away, a few with wee niggles that we're not taking any chances with, but for the boys who played it was a really good, strong performance. 'I thought the shape was really good, the work-rate and desire from the boys is exactly what you're needing. 'The bonus is that we get the clean sheet at the 1-0 win. We had a couple of other wee chances that we could have done better with, but with rustiness that will happen, and by the time the League Cup section an the league come around, that will be out the system. 'There were a lot of positives to take, and from [last] Wednesday night's game against Albion Rovers as well, a 2-0 win there, and it's a case of getting boys game-time. 'The boys have come back in good shape, they've got the bit between their teeth, which is good to see, and there were a few trialists in who have shown up well, too. 'It has been a good week, a strong week, and the main thing is getting minutes into the boys' legs and making sure niggles don't become strains or pulls or anything, so it's positive.' With Hamilton Accies having moved to Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld, Clyde will train at the Hamilton Community Stadium, which was formerly known as New Douglas Park. Young said: 'It's always good to be able to train on the park that you're playing on. I've had that with a few different teams, and it does make a difference. 'It's good to be here, that we have a base, as such, and that we're not chopping and changing, and it's good for players for that wee bit of stability. 'Under the circumstances that have happened, we've managed to profit from it, being able to play and train here. It just gives you that wee bit of security.' Meanwhile, Queen's Park boss Sean Crighton was disappointed with his side's 1-0 defeat against Clyde, but happy with their attitude. Crighton got 90 minutes in captain Euan Murray, vice-captain Charlie Fox, who missed nine months of last season, and Louis Longridge. But he was annoyed as a Scott Williamson strike gave Clyde the pre-season Glasgow Cup win. That followed a 2-0 win over Annan Athletic at the City Stadium the previous Tuesday, and Crighton said: 'I'm obviously disappointed in the result. There was a lot of good stuff in the game, but also stuff that we'll look back at and try and make it better. 'I thought it was a really poor goal that we lost. 'The big thing for me is results in pre-season, you can look at what you want,but the most important thing is that you get minutes in the legs. 'I've had Euan Murray and Charlie Fox getting 90 minutes, Louis Longridge got 90 minutes. 'There are ones that got good minutes in their legs that I'm going to need to get good minutes, so it was a good exercise again. 'But I'm really disappointed with the result. 'We had a couple of chances, but nothing really clear-cut, and poor decision making in the final third and all over is stuff that we need to tidy up on. 'We gave Clyde something to hang onto, we lost a poor goal. In the final third we need to be better with our decisions, but it's basically a new group. 'On Tuesday night there were a lot of things I was happy with, and [on Saturday] there was a lot of stuff that I was happy with as well. 'It's going to come, it's just that we need to make sure the guys are getting fitness in their legs and getting what they need out of pre-season as well.'
