After Seeing ‘F1,' Here's What to Stream Next

New York Times12 hours ago

For racing fans, Brad Pitt fans and those in between, the drama 'F1' has made its way to theaters. Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, an aging driver enlisted to save a failing team fronted by a young hot shot (Damson Idris). The fast-paced movie aims for authenticity with help from a notable pro: Lewis Hamilton — the face of Formula One and a seven-time world champion — advised on technical details and has a producer credit. For those who have seen 'F1,' and are looking to get their next full-throttle fix, these movies and shows, all available to stream, are worth a spin.
'Grand Prix' (1966)

Heralded as the lead car to which all racing films follow, John Frankenheimer's movie broke ground with its innovative use of vehicle-mounted cameras, jarring real-life footage and quick-jump editing (now a staple in the genre). 'Grand Prix' throws viewers into the action with first-person driver perspective; the camera cars reached nearly 200 miles per hour during shoots. The film's star, James Garner, drove in every race and even caught fire during a filmed crash. Viewers would be forgiven for fast-forwarding through the sleepy love stories to skip right to the action, which earned 'Grand Prix' three Oscars in technical categories. This racing-movie primer checks many boxes: speed, glamour, drama and a slick opening sequence in Monaco, F1's undisputed Valhalla.
'Senna: No Fear. No Limits. No Equal.' (2011)
Stream it on Netflix.
No documentary captures the heart of F1 better than 'Senna,' which won two BAFTAs and masterfully weaves the story of Ayrton Senna da Silva, the Brazilian racer who figures prominently on F1's Mt. Rushmore. Including never-before-seen footage from the Formula One archive, along with personal footage, the doc follows young Ayrton, seemingly born to race, as he relocates to Europe, battles discrimination and later, battles Formula One itself for driver safety. The model-handsome Senna typified the daring nature of F1 as he quickly became unstoppable in the rain, which can debilitate drivers. His three world championship wins made him a one-word brand and put Brazil on the racing map. Sadly, Senna's determination to keep drivers safe was marked by his own tragic death in a 1994 crash. Poignant and powerful, 'Senna' transcends racing as it documents a worldwide icon gone too soon.

Jeff Bezos Reportedly Spoils New Wife Lauren Sanchez With Multi-Million Dollar Jewelry As Wedding Gift

As Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez celebrate their long-awaited wedding in Venice, new reports have emerged claiming that the Amazon founder gifted his bride a multimillion-dollar piece of jewelry to mark the occasion. The jewelry is said to feature a diamond necklace with a large center stone, accompanied by matching earrings to complement the set. This comes amid reports that Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez have actually been "secretly married" for over a month, with an ironclad prenuptial agreement in place. Tying the knot with billionaire Jeff Bezos was always going to be a grand affair, and now, insiders say Lauren Sánchez has been spoiled with a jaw-dropping gift fit for a queen. The gift is said to be a diamond necklace from a high-profile jeweler valued at a whopping $3 million to $5 million. "It's a diamond necklace that circles her neck with a large center stone and matching earrings," a source told Page Six. While pictures of the gift have yet to be seen, guests at the wedding may get a first glimpse of it, as the insider claimed that Sánchez will wear the "dazzling new gems" for the ceremony. "You won't be able to miss this elegant diamond necklace as it's almost as massive as Jeff's superyacht," the source added about the expensive piece. "Lauren is thrilled with her blinding new necklace and earrings that take her already impressive collection up several notches." Should Sánchez choose not to wear the new piece during her wedding festivities, she is expected to wear several others, whose total cost is said to be worth four to six times more. "It's said Lauren will wear a long list of precious jewels throughout the festivities that could easily be worth up to $20 or $30-plus million." This may include her $2.5 million ring, which the tech mogul gave her in 2023 when he popped the question. "I'm also told Lauren has her jewels and looks photographed days before she goes out in public so she knows what the photos will look like, and can change them if she's not absolutely thrilled with the way everything looks," the insider also said about Sanchez's jewelry. Previously, a Florida-based attorney claimed that Bezos and Sanchez had already tied the knot in the U.S. "Often, a marriage in foreign country is not valid in the USA, or creates other issues, so yes, it is likely they are already married," said the source, hinting at the reason behind the decision, per Page Six. Seemingly supporting the claim, an Italian official also revealed that Bezos and Sanchez did not file any documents to conduct a civil ceremony in Venice. If the couple's marriage is to be recognized as legal in Venice, they are required under Italian law to file these documents, including a "Dichiarazione Giurata" and an "Atto Notorio." "I can totally rule out that they will have a civil ceremony in Venice under Italian law," the official confirmed to The Times of London. A separate source confirmed the rumor of a secret wedding to the Daily Mail, telling the news outlet that Bezos and Sanchez have been married for over a month now. "They have been married for at least a month, more than a month. The marriage is fully legal and took place in America under American law," the source said. They continued, "When they were planning the wedding, they were clear about the fact that they were already secretly married." "There is no application for a wedding licence from the couple because it was not required," the source added. "Whatever happens at the wedding on Friday, it will not be a wedding. Under Italian law, it will not be a wedding celebration; any vows said or rings exchanged will have no legal meaning." Another rumor that has circulated is that Bezos and Sanchez have already signed a prenuptial agreement to secure the billionaire's $226.7 billion fortune. Although the details of its contents remain under wraps, sources say it will be enforceable despite the couple having their big wedding overseas. "They can get married anywhere as their prenup would generally be drafted to include its enforceability everywhere," a source said.

'The song was written initially about my grandmother going through serious injury and trauma, leading her to become a different person to who she was before,' he said. 'It's about the feeling of deterioration and ugliness; shutting out the world and the people we love out of the fear of becoming a burden or an embarrassment.' The artist added, 'We all want someone or something to comfort us no matter how we are right now or who we become in the future. But it's f—ing scary.' The song will feature on the British rocker's upcoming double album Idols, which will be released in two parts. The first half will drop on June 20, a day before his headline set at his own festival Bludfest in Milton Keynes, England. Chase Atlantic, Rachel Chinouriri and Denzel Curry all feature on the lineup. Harrison kicked off the Idols era back in March with the nine-minute LP opener 'Hello Heaven, Hello' showcasing his intent. In an accompanying press release, he said of the song: 'It's a journey of self-reclamation, a goodbye to the past and how you may have known or perceived me before, and a hello to the future and where I'm going. It sets the precedent for what this album is.' His past two albums under the Yungblud moniker — Weird! (2020) and Yungblud (2022) — both reached No. 1 on the U.K.'s Official Albums Chart. £45m deal solves Liverpool's BIGGEST problem

Liverpool have a gigantic problem in their squad. One £45m deal fixes it, however. Liverpool's summer so far has been all about moving the squad forwards under Arne Slot. They've spent a year seeing how fits in with the ideas and style, now they want to fine-tune things around the head coach. Advertisement But they've also moved to solve upcoming problems. Trent Alexander-Arnold left, so a new right-back had to come in. Jeremie Frimpong is exactly that - problem solved. Andy Robertson is entering the final year of his contract and may move on. Milos Kerkez comes in as his successor and one of the best young players in the Premier League. Mo Salah is now 33 years old and we're almost certainly in the final two years of his time at Liverpool. The club needs someone new to build their attack around and Florian Wirtz is absolutely perfect for it. Another problem is brewing, however. Liverpool aren't sure what the future looks like at centre-back, with Jarell Quansah moving on and Ibrahima Konate facing a very uncertain future. Advertisement The Frenchman is in the final year of his contract and it appears unlikely he'll sign a new one, given his demands. The Reds are set to lose a key defender and the player they hoped would lead the defence after Virgil van Dijk. So what should they do? Marc Guehi is the answer Liverpool reportedly want to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. Like Konate, he's in the final year of his contract there and won't be renewing. It means Palace either sell this summer or lose him for free. That's a complicated one, though, as Chelsea retain a 20 per cent sell-on clause on any sale. Palace, then, won't get the full fee and may see more value in another year of Guehi than any amount they can receive right now. Advertisement The BBC reports that £45m is the going price for Guehi. Now, Liverpool may decide to wait a year and sign him for free and no one could begrudge them that. But simply paying the money to guarantee Guehi would fix their biggest problem right now. They'd get a homegrown talent to replace Quansah - something that's a secondary problem for the squad - and they'd also get that leader to replace Konate. Guehi is a fantastic and accomplished Premier League defender, one who just helped lead Palace to glory for the first time in their history as they won the FA Cup. He's exactly what the Reds are looking for and £45m is a wonderful price for that. Unless, of course, Liverpool feel they can wait. If they're certain Guehi will join in 2026 and can't sell Konate this summer, then waiting it out makes the most sense.
