Way-too-early Seahawks 53-man roster projection: offense
The Seattle Seahawks will begin their first of nine Organized Team Activities (OTA) practices on Tuesday. Though this portion of the offseason remains voluntary, roster battles will begin taking shape. With the Seahawks officially on the practice field, we've delivered our way-too-early 53-man roster projection for the offense.
Quarterbacks (3): Sam Darnold, Drew Lock, Jalen Milroe
The Seahawks are one of few teams that should carry three quarterbacks. They signed Drew Lock to be the veteran backup to Sam Darnold. Rookie third-round pick Jalen Milroe will be afforded an opportunity to slowly develop behind the scenes.
Running backs (4): Kenneth Walker III, Zach Charbonnet, Robbie Ouzts, Damien Martinez
The need for a fullback in Klint Kubiak's offense will probably prevent the Seahawks from keeping more than three natural running backs. Damien Martinez, Kenny McIntosh, and George Holani will compete for one spot. Rookie fifth-rounder Robbie Ouzts is the favorite to be the fullback.
Wide receivers (6): Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Tory Horton, Jake Bobo, Ricky White III
The Seahawks could go even lighter here with five wide receivers. If so, Jake Bobo and rookie draft-pick Ricky White III would compete with a slew of back-end players for the final gig. Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp are expected to do heavy lifting at wide receiver.
Tight ends (3): Noah Fant, Elijah Arroyo, AJ Barner
Noah Fant, Elijah Arroyo, and AJ Barner project as a solid trio at tight end. Brady Russell is converting to fullback and will battle Ouzts for the backfield blocking role. Fant, Arroyo, and Barner should make-up a high quality TE room in Seattle.
Offensive line (9): Charles Cross, Grey Zabel, Olu Oluwatimi, Christian Haynes, Abraham Lucas, Josh Jones, Jalen Sundell, Bryce Cabeldue, Mason Richman
There's plenty of competition for offensive line spots. This projection leaves guards Anthony Bradford and Sataoa Laumea off the roster. That means both rookies, Mason Richman and Bryce Cabeldue, make it. Veteran free-agent addition Josh Jones is the swing tackle in this scenario.

Steelers linked to another tight end trade target — Seahawks' Noah Fant
It must be Groundhog Day in the Steel City — as the Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked to another tight end trade target. As Pittsburgh's rumored interest in Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith and Falcons TE Kyle Pitts has begun to simmer down, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin predicted the Seahawks to trade TE Noah Fant to the Steelers. Here's how Benjamin justified the proposal: "Even after securing Metcalf as their new No. 1 wideout, the Steelers have reportedly been sniffing around for pass catchers, in part to replace the gifted but volatile Pickens. And Fant — more so than, say, the Atlanta Falcons' Kyle Pitts — would seem to be readily available in Seattle. The Seahawks spent a second-round draft pick on fellow tight end Elijah Arroyo, whose athleticism could quickly vault him into a starting role, and trading Fant would save the team close to $9 million in 2025, the last year of the veteran's deal. As a bonus, Fant previously spent three years working alongside current Steelers assistant Zach Azzanni in Denver." Benjamin acknowledged that the Seahawks would be hesitant to send their only proven tight end option to Pittsburgh, while also arguing that the Steelers could have too many mouths to feed in their own tight end room. Although trade predictions have been piling up as NFL news slows down — especially with nearly a month remaining until training camp — this speculative proposal is far more feasible than the viral Najee Harris trade report. Could Pittsburgh ultimately pull off a trade before camp? And if they do, will the Steelers address their defense with a star corner like Jalen Ramsey — or perhaps reunite Aaron Rodgers with a former teammate in WR Allen Lazard? Steelers Behind-The-Scenes Look At 'Aggressive' Trade And Metcalf's View On Rodgers
Steelers Behind-The-Scenes Look At 'Aggressive' Trade And Metcalf's View On Rodgers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. D.K. Metcalf is saying goodbye to the Seattle Seahawks ... And saying hello to Aaron Rodgers. Advertisement he Pittsburgh Steelers have jettisoned Russell Wilson and Justin Fields and Najee Harris and George Pickens, turning over their offense to QB Rodgers (on the wrong side of 40) and Metcalf (who needed a divorce from the Seattle Seahawks). The newly acquired Metcalf - filling in here after Pittsburgh shipped Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2026 third-round pick - could be part of an upgrade with Rodgers over the 2024 duo of Russell Wilson and Pickens. Whether that's enough to win a playoff game for the first time since 2016, though, is the point. What does Metcalf think the Steelers' new quarterback brings? Advertisement 'Just how cerebral he is and how he views the game,' Metcalf said, via Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh. 'I like the way he views the game from a receiver's standpoint, but also from a quarterback's standpoint. I think I can gain a lot of knowledge just from being around him because he's seen a lot of football. Just trying to soak up as much information as I can.' By the way, Metcalf also suggests that he didn't see Pickens as the problem that some in Pittsburgh do. 'I would've loved to play with George Pickens,' Metcalf said. 'Being here, just to see how he was as a teammate, just to see what I could learn from him. It was a decision the team made and it was out of my hands.' Another decision? Metcalf, who signed an extension here, being sent away by Seattle. Why did they give up on their freakishly massive wideout? Advertisement On the "3 & Out Podcast," Seahawks general manager John Schneider explained. "Pittsburgh (and Steelers general manager Omar Khan), those guys were really aggressive," Schneider said, as shared by Tim Benz of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "It just happened, and again, you can't change the way people think. As much as we love him and want to have him here, when people want to leave, it's difficult to try to convince them to stay. "Once we got back from the combine, we had another real open talk. Then we told him we would concede to his wishes." So this was mostly D.K.'s idea? And he gets a five-year, $150 million contract extension as part of the Steelers trade? Great. Advertisement Now D.K. and Aaron just need to say hello to a playoff win or two. Shaquill Griffin addition makes young Seahawks CB expendable
The Seattle Seahawks signed veteran cornerback Shaquill Griffin to a one-year contract earlier this week, reuniting with one of their 2017 draft picks. Griffin's addition pushes several cornerbacks further down the depth chart. It could spell bad news for sophomore corner Nehemiah Pritchett, who will enter training camp on the roster bubble. Pritchett was selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round (No. 136) of the 2024 NFL draft. The former Auburn standout struggled in limited action as a rookie. Occasionally thrown into the fire due to injuries, Pritchett wasn't ready to cover NFL-caliber wide receivers. As a rookie, Pro Football Focus assigned him a brutal coverage grade of 35.6. Opposing quarterbacks enjoyed a strong passer rating of 115.6 when throwing the football in his direction. Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, and Josh Jobe will be the Seahawks' primary three cornerbacks. The recently added Griffin should be the top rotational reserve option off the bench. The Seahawks also added veteran corner Shemar Jean-Charles to their offseason roster. Pritchett struggled mightily as a rookie. The Seahawks have made moves this offseason that push the sophomore defender further down the depth chart. Pritchett will enter training camp at risk of being released following Griffin's addition.
