Notre Dame OT Charles Jagusah broke his arm during an UTV accident over the holiday

USA Todaya day ago
It wasn't the news that Notre Dame football wanted to hear, as on Sunday it was announced by the official press release team that projected offensive tackle starter Charles Jagusah was injured during an UTV accident and has undergone surgery on his left humerus.
While the 'initial prognosis is favorable,' it remains to be seen how long he will miss as the season is rapidly approaching. It's the second-straight season that Jagusah won't be able to begin the season healthy, after injuring his shoulder last year.
The sophomore came into the program with plenty of hype, ranked as the nation's No. 51 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite. Jagusah was able to see the field last year, but only due to the Irish making it to the College Football Playoff championship game. He was viewed as a starter heading into the season, but now Notre Dame will have to find his replacement while he recovers from yet another injury.

Larry Fitzgerald's Son Has Heartfelt Reaction to Father's Emotional Social Media Post

Larry Fitzgerald's Son Has Heartfelt Reaction to Father's Emotional Social Media Post originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There's no doubt that throughout his 17-year career (2004 to 2020), Larry Fitzgerald established himself as one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history, accumulating 1,432 receptions, 17,492 yards and 121 touchdowns. Advertisement However, despite retiring following the 2020 season, he's still surrounded by football, as his son, Devin, a class of 2026 wide receiver for Brophy College Preparatory, announced on Saturday he will be committing to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. It became a special moment for Larry, who would later make an emotional Instagram post for his son, with part of the message saying, "I'm so proud of the young man you're becoming. Watching you grow, learn, and find your way has truly been one of the greatest blessings of my life." Of course, it drew a reaction from Devin, who acknowledged his father's kind words with a simple heart emoji. Advertisement Choosing Notre Dame certainly wasn't an easy decision for Devin, as he had a number of high-profile teams looking to land his services, including his father's college team, the Pittsburgh Panthers. However, they weren't even one of the finalists, because before making his decision on Saturday, he previously revealed he was choosing between the Fighting Irish, the Clemson Tigers, the UCLA Bruins and the Stanford Cardinal. Devin, a three-star prospect per On3 Industry Rankings, fits in nicely to an already impressive 2026 recruiting class for Notre Dame, which has a total of 25 commitments, ranking No. 4 in the nation. Brophy Prep wide receiver and Notre Dame commit Devin Breen/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Devin certainly isn't the only wide receiver in that group either, as he'll be joined by several four stars, including Kaydon Finley, Bubba Frazier and Brayden Robinson. 3-star DL Viliami Moala announces decommitment from Oregon Ducks

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks got some unfortunate news on the recruiting trail on Monday afternoon, with 3-star defensive lineman Viliami Moala announcing his decommitment from the 2026 class. Moala had been committed since October of 2024, but he announced this week that he wanted to open up his recruitment once again. Moala is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 451 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 51 DL, standing at 6-foot-3, 340 pounds. The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise, seeing as Moala was enrolled at Willamette High School in Eugene, teammates with fellow Oregon commit Tony Cumberland, a 4-star DL. Moala announced that he would be transferring to Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. With the decommitment, Oregon now has 13 members of the 2026 class, which now ranks No. 14 in the nation. That should improve in the near future, though, with 4-star WR Jalen Lott expected to announce his commitment on Tuesday, and potentially more big names to come in the near future. ongoing coverage of Oregon Ducks news, notes, and opinions.

Arizona State QB Leavitt and Texas Tech LB Rodriguez are preseason Big 12 players of year

Associated Press IRVING, Texas (AP) — Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt and Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez were named the preseason Big 12 Conference players of the year on Monday. The Big 12 announced the awards, which are determined by a vote of media members who cover the league, the day before the Big 12 Football Media Days started in Frisco, Texas. There was no preseason poll since the Big 12 discontinued that this year, joining the Big Ten as power conferences without one. The Big 12's move comes a year after then-newcomer Arizona State was picked to finish last in the 16-team league before going on to win the conference championship game. Leavitt completed 216 of 350 passes (61.7%) for 2,885 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions as a redshirt freshman last season when the Sun Devils made the 12-team College Football Playoff in their Big 12 debut. The former Michigan State transfer also ran for 443 yards and five TDs. Rodriguez was the Big 12's leading tackler with 126 total tackles, and his 77 solo stops were also the most in the league. He had 7 1/2 tackles for loss, and all five of his sacks came in Big 12 play. Utah quarterback Devon Dampier, a transfer from New Mexico, was selected as the Big 12's top newcomer. He was the Mountain West Conference leader last season with 3,934 total yards last season, 2,768 passing and 1,166 rushing. ___ AP college football: recommended
