3-star DL Viliami Moala announces decommitment from Oregon Ducks
Moala had been committed since October of 2024, but he announced this week that he wanted to open up his recruitment once again. Moala is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 451 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 51 DL, standing at 6-foot-3, 340 pounds.
The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise, seeing as Moala was enrolled at Willamette High School in Eugene, teammates with fellow Oregon commit Tony Cumberland, a 4-star DL. Moala announced that he would be transferring to Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama.
With the decommitment, Oregon now has 13 members of the 2026 class, which now ranks No. 14 in the nation. That should improve in the near future, though, with 4-star WR Jalen Lott expected to announce his commitment on Tuesday, and potentially more big names to come in the near future.

Tennessee football lands in-state athlete Javonte Smith in 2026 recruiting class
Jackson North Side athlete Javonte Smith committed to Tennessee football in the 2026 class, choosing the in-state Vols over Arkansas, Missouri and West Virginia. On July 8, Smith made his announcement alongside coaches and teammates at North Side. Advertisement He also received scholarship offers from SEC schools Mississippi State, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. His last official visit was to UT on June 20. Smith is a 6-foot-1, 175-pounder rated a three-star prospect. He is ranked the No. 80 cornerback and No. 964 prospect overall, according to 247Sports Composite. Smith is a standout receiver, defensive back and kick returner for North Side. He was recruited by UT secondary coach Willie Martinez and likely projects as a defensive back for the Vols. As a junior in the 2024 season, Smith had five interceptions, including three returned for touchdowns, and two kickoff return TDs. Offensively, he had 1,027 yards receiving and was named second team All-West Tennessee. Oregon Ducks land commitment from 4-star WR Jalen Lott
Since Dan Lanning came to Eugene and took over the Oregon Ducks, the recruiting at the wide receiver position has risen to another level. A lot of that was thanks to former WR coach Junior Adams and his prowess in the sport, but it has continued this past year under new WR coach Ross Douglas, who picked up his second major victory on the trail this week. On Tuesday, 4-star WR Jalen Lott announced his commitment to Oregon. Lott is rated as the No. 49 player and No. 5 ATH in the 2026 class, and he chose Lanning and his squad over the Texas Longhorns and USC Trojans. Lott stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds, and is considered one of the top pass-catchers in the class, and has been among Oregon's top prospects this cycle. This was a heated recruiting battle between the Ducks, Longhorns, and Trojans, and with Jalen being the son of James Lott, a Texas legacy, it was felt that he would likely stay close to home and go with the Longhorns. Ultimately, though, he sided with the Ducks, and now becomes the second WR in the class, joining 4-star WR Messiah Hampton, who committed in June. Before the addition of Lott, Oregon had the No. 14 class in the 2026 cycle, but they have now moved up to No. 9 in the nation.
