Everything Ar'maj Reed-Adams and Taurean York said ahead of Texas A&M's spring game
It's a busy week for Texas A&M football. While working the 2025 spring transfer portal, they are also preparing for the annual spring football game on Saturday.
This is the first actual offseason under head coach Mike Elko, and while everything isn't perfect, they know the standard. They are now practicing more freely, which gives them more opportunities to focus on getting the small details right. Now that Marcel Reed is the No. 1 quarterback and with the addition of a few defensive staff members, everyone is hoping there is more consistency across the board.
Earlier in the week, coach Elko named Trey Zuhn III, Ar'maj Reed-Adams, and Taurean York as the captains for the 2025 football season. Having two offensive linemen as captains speaks volumes to the leadership in that room and the trust coach Elko has that group to set the tone this upcoming season.
Reed-Adams and York spoke to the media during their weekly press conference ahead of the 2025 spring football game.
Ar'maj Reed-Adams comments on being named a captain
"It means a lot, especially being voted on by the team after only being here a year."
"It took time to build genuine relationships with pretty much everyone on that team. ... I'm glad it's paying off and they respect me on and off the field."
Reed-Adams on the growth of the offensive line
"I've seen the growth for the whole offensive line and everybody improving on things we've been talking about."
"Eyes, communication and being one unit."
The offensive line has some lofty goals for the season
"Joe Moore and leading this team to a national championship. I think we've got the pieces behind the line and the defense to do it."
Reed-Adams speaks on the current roster
"We're at a very positive spot with our roster. Any additions will be welcome, but I think we can do it with the guys we've got right now."
"Our team rotates a lot, so we get a lot of players on the field... If you feel like you're good enough, this is the place you need to be."
Reed-Adams on Marcel Reed
"He has always been a pro. He has always been taking it like he was going to be a starter."
"Marcel is poised for a big season. Kid can spin the ball, put it wherever he wants it and throw it however far he wants it."
Taurean York comments on the spring game
"Let's just go get the ball, really. Do our job. Play physical, play downhill."
York speaks on the close the team has become
"It's a tight-knit team. I haven't really heard transfer portal talks, so I'm proud about that."
York comments on the leadership across the team
"It takes everybody on the team. Just because I have a C on my chest doesn't mean I should be the only leader on the team."
York talks about his fellow captain Ar-maj Reed-Adams
"He's a real Aggie. He has always wanted to be a Texas A&M Aggie."
"I knew he was really here for the right reasons."
York gives his thoughts on the defense for the 2025 season
"We're going to be good on defense. We've fine-tuned some things."
"I like where we're trending right now."
Taurean York speaks on where the needed to improve
"We had to get a whole lot better and finish a whole lot better."
"We're progressing every day, looking forward to the spring game and putting it on display for the fans."
York reveals his first pick in the spring game draft
"Cashius (Howell). He's a beast. He can put it on display. Trust me, he's really good."
The fans will be able to catch a glimpse of the team after being able to get a full off-season when they step on the field on April 19 for the spring game.

Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed explains recent Instagram post discussing lofty 2025 goals
Texas A&M's 2025 season won't just hinge on starting quarterback Marcel Reed's performance. Still, the redshirt sophomore must improve as a pocket passer for the Aggie offense to reach its full potential under OC Collin Klein. Still, the Tennessee native deserves grace after being thrown in the fire as the starter last season amid Conner Weigman's injury issues. With Weigman now at Houston, it has been Reed's job since the start of the offseason. From what we've seen and heard over the past six months, Marcel has put in the reps with various QB coaches to improve his release, accuracy, and touch before entering fall camp. After the Maroon & White spring game, the lack of blocking up front due to the O-line holdouts did not provide Reed a fair shot. Still, he did connect on several solid passes to new wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver and looked much more confident in the pocket. Reed does not need to play at an "elite" level for the Aggies to reach their goals due to the depth at running back and veteran offensive line, but that won't stop the former four-star prospect from chasing after his lofty goals. After signing an NIL deal with ENG Aviation, a private jet company dedicated to transporting life-saving organ transplants, Reed caught up with Texas-based journalist Chancellor Johnson, who asked the Aggie signal caller about his recent Instagram post where he posted a photo of himself in his jersey with the description "C-stat (arrow), New York (arrow), Miami," which may have not been obious to all who read it. 'C-Stat (A&M), New York (Heisman), Miami (CFB championship) y'all check the locations, I put them there for a reason." Most quarterbacks at the Power Four level have Heisman and National Championship hopes, which is what makes every game competitive, and why we all love college football. Reed isn't the last QB to speak in this similar vein, and who knows? Perhaps the upgraded wide receiver room, increased running back depth, and a full offseason as the starter will propel Marcel Reed into elite territory in 2025. Texas A&M's priority 2026 WR prospect predicted to land with USC
This Friday, Texas A&M Mike Elko and his staff won't just be celebrating Independence Day knowing that two of the program's priority 2026 prospects will announce their commitments back-to-back, as four-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster and four-star linebacker Tank King have been slight favorites to land with the Aggies since late last month. However, USC, which currently owns the No. 1-ranked 2026 class has been working hard on Feaster, and after fipping former five-star Texas A&M commit Husan Longstreet in the 2025 signing class, landing one of the top wide receiver prospects with a ton of untapped potential should help Longstreet's potentially elite career with the Trojans. While the Aggies were the clear favorites for Feaster, things have reportedly changed this week, leading to Wednesday's news that Rivals insiders Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman have logged their expert predictions for USC to land the standout receiver over Texas A&M. This is not a huge surprise given Texas A&M's three 2026 wide receiver commits, led by four-star Aaron Gregory, who looks like the best wideout in the cycle. If USC lands Feaster, Texas A&M is not out of the running, as no commitment is set in stone until Early Signing Day on December 4, unless the player shuts down his recruitment, as many of A&M's 2026 commits have done this summer. Feaster finished his junior season with a personal-best 57 receptions, 855 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Through two varsity seasons, the DeSoto product has 1,489 yards and 23 touchdowns. According to On3, Feaster is the 44th-ranked overall prospect and the fifth-ranked wide receiver in the 2026 class. He is the fifth-ranked prospect in Texas. Notre Dame could land Kaydon Finley, Devin Fitzgerald and Brayden Robinson this weekend
This weekend could be very prosperous for Notre Dame football, as three of its top targets have set their commitment dates on back-to-back-to-back days. Let's take a look at who is making their college choice along with the Irish's chances, starting with the first announcement on July 4th. Texas wide receiver Kaydon Finley will make his pick between Texas, Texas A&M and the Irish. He's one of the top prospects in the country, ranking as the No. 110 player according to the 247Sports Composite. This recruitment looks very promising for Notre Dame, as there are three crystal ball picks on 247Sports favoring the Irish. The next scheduled player to commit is another receiver in Arizona's Devin Fitzgerald on July 5th. The son of NFL legend Larry will pick one of four teams: Stanford, Clemson, UCLA or Notre Dame. At 6-foot, 2-inches and 205-pounds, the younger Fitzgerald is ranked as the No. 488 prospect by 247Sports. They also like the Irish's chances, but not quite as confident with just one crystal ball pick for the Blue and Gold. Lastly, Brayden Robinson, another receiver, will make his pick on July 6th. The Irish are battling Miami and Arizona for the nation's No. 340 prospect in the 247Sports rankings. Like Fitzgerald, there is just one crystal ball and while it does favor Notre Dame, it's not all that encouraging. It's hard to imagine that the Irish land all three, and while that is a possibility, they already have two other receivers committed in the 2026 class. Finley and Fitzgerald are at the top of my 'want' list, but that's just personal preference. It very well could be a big Fourth of July weekend for Notre Dame.
