2 Texas A&M players earn Walter Camp preseason All-America honors
Texas A&M's leaders in the 2025 locker room include senior right guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams and junior linebacker Taurean York, who coach Mike Elko and his staff will depend on throughout the season before heading to the 2026 NFL Draft. This offseason, both players have increased their size and strength in the weight room and are considered two of the best players nationally at their respective positions. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Reed-Adams (second-team) and York (first-team) were the lone Aggies to receive preseason All-America honors, according to Walter Camp. As the two 2025 team captains, coupled with senior left tackle Trey Zuhn III, head into the new campaign, they have high expectations to thrive on both sides of the ball. Last season, York struggled out of the gate, but ended the year leading the team in tackles (82), 2.5 sacks, four pass breakups, his first career interception, and finishing second on the team with 9.5 sacks. A starter since his 2023 freshman season, the former three-star prospect has more than surpassed his recruiting ranking and is currently seen as a potential first-round draft pick. After transferring from Kansas last season, Reed-Adams settled in at right guard, bringing in vast experience with 43 appearances and 27 starts, and finished his first season with the Aggies as the top run blocker nationally. Considered the best overall player on the roster, EA Sports' College Football 26 video game features Reed-Adams as the program's highest-rated overall player with a grade of 93. Texas A&M will open the 2025 season against UTSA on Saturday, August 30 at 6 p.m. CT., and will air on ESPN. Previewing the 2025 season for Texas A&M OL Ar'maj Reed-Adams with his player profile
As we gear up for the 2025 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, recruiting rankings out of high school, and projected role under head coach Mike Elko. Ar'maj Reed-Adams stepped into a starting role after transferring to Texas A&M following four seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks. He arrived in Aggieland as an extremely versatile lineman and provided first-year head coach Mike Elko with a veteran presence across an offensive line that experienced frequent quarterback changes until Marcel Reed eventually took over. After weighing whether to enter the NFL Draft or return to A&M, Reed-Adams officially announced his decision to stay in Aggieland for his senior season. It's a gamble as he was projected as a Day 2 or Day 3 draft pick, but with another solid year, he could elevate his stock into early Day 2 territory. Preseason Player Profile Recruiting Rankings (Class of 2020) The former three-star prospect signed with Kansas out of high school after finishing his senior year at DeSoto High School. He was a late bloomer, but standing at 6-5, over 300 lbs., he made for an intriguing prospect with a high upside. Depth Chart Outlook Reed-Adams started every game at right guard during the 2024 season and is expected to return to the same role, anchoring a strong offensive line that helped Texas A&M become one of the premier rushing teams in the nation. Everything Ar'maj Reed-Adams and Taurean York said ahead of Texas A&M's spring game
Everything Ar'maj Reed-Adams and Taurean York said ahead of Texas A&M's spring game It's a busy week for Texas A&M football. While working the 2025 spring transfer portal, they are also preparing for the annual spring football game on Saturday. This is the first actual offseason under head coach Mike Elko, and while everything isn't perfect, they know the standard. They are now practicing more freely, which gives them more opportunities to focus on getting the small details right. Now that Marcel Reed is the No. 1 quarterback and with the addition of a few defensive staff members, everyone is hoping there is more consistency across the board. Earlier in the week, coach Elko named Trey Zuhn III, Ar'maj Reed-Adams, and Taurean York as the captains for the 2025 football season. Having two offensive linemen as captains speaks volumes to the leadership in that room and the trust coach Elko has that group to set the tone this upcoming season. Reed-Adams and York spoke to the media during their weekly press conference ahead of the 2025 spring football game. Ar'maj Reed-Adams comments on being named a captain "It means a lot, especially being voted on by the team after only being here a year." "It took time to build genuine relationships with pretty much everyone on that team. ... I'm glad it's paying off and they respect me on and off the field." Reed-Adams on the growth of the offensive line "I've seen the growth for the whole offensive line and everybody improving on things we've been talking about." "Eyes, communication and being one unit." The offensive line has some lofty goals for the season "Joe Moore and leading this team to a national championship. I think we've got the pieces behind the line and the defense to do it." Reed-Adams speaks on the current roster "We're at a very positive spot with our roster. Any additions will be welcome, but I think we can do it with the guys we've got right now." "Our team rotates a lot, so we get a lot of players on the field... If you feel like you're good enough, this is the place you need to be." Reed-Adams on Marcel Reed "He has always been a pro. He has always been taking it like he was going to be a starter." "Marcel is poised for a big season. Kid can spin the ball, put it wherever he wants it and throw it however far he wants it." Taurean York comments on the spring game "Let's just go get the ball, really. Do our job. Play physical, play downhill." York speaks on the close the team has become "It's a tight-knit team. I haven't really heard transfer portal talks, so I'm proud about that." York comments on the leadership across the team "It takes everybody on the team. Just because I have a C on my chest doesn't mean I should be the only leader on the team." York talks about his fellow captain Ar-maj Reed-Adams "He's a real Aggie. He has always wanted to be a Texas A&M Aggie." "I knew he was really here for the right reasons." York gives his thoughts on the defense for the 2025 season "We're going to be good on defense. We've fine-tuned some things." "I like where we're trending right now." Taurean York speaks on where the needed to improve "We had to get a whole lot better and finish a whole lot better." "We're progressing every day, looking forward to the spring game and putting it on display for the fans." York reveals his first pick in the spring game draft "Cashius (Howell). He's a beast. He can put it on display. Trust me, he's really good." The fans will be able to catch a glimpse of the team after being able to get a full off-season when they step on the field on April 19 for the spring game. 'He has always been a pro' Texas A&M OL discusses QB Marcel Reed's progress this spring
'He has always been a pro' Texas A&M OL discusses QB Marcel Reed's progress this spring Texas A&M's 2025 spring football season ends after Saturday's annual Maroon & White spring game. On Wednesday, two of the program's three team captains joined head coach Mike Elko at the podium, as junior linebacker Taurean York and senior offensive lineman Ar'maj Reed-Adams provided various updates regarding how the offense and defense have progressed this month. Reed-Adams could have entered the 2025 NFL Draft this offseason, but opted to return for a final season to play alongside what should be one of the best offensive lines in the country, as every 2024 starter is back in the lineup, including left tackle Trey Zuhn III, who is the third team captain for the 2025 season. Starting quarterback Marcel Reed is Texas A&M's offensive catalyst. OC Collin Klein needs his redshirt sophomore signal caller to improve his accuracy, play with more confidence in the pocket, and, most importantly, connect on his deep balls at a more consistent rate. This offseason, Elko and Klein have kept it simple when discussing Reed's progress, but according to Reed-Adams, who spoke about Reed's positive mindset, which should lead to notable improvement this coming season. "He has always been a pro. He has always been taking it like he was going to be a starter." "Marcel is poised for a big season. Kid can spin the ball, put it wherever he wants it and throw it however far he wants it." Aggie fans know what Marcel Reed can do on the field after watching him start eight games last season, including his impressive passing performance in the 4 OT, where he threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns. The Tennessee native is talented enough to become a dependable passer, while he has already proven his ability as a runner. Yes, players, especially offensive linemen, will hype their quarterbacks. Still, Reed-Adams is just echoing the coaching staff and every other player on the roster who has discussed his progress this spring. Texas A&M's Maroon & White spring game is set for Saturday, April 19, at 2:00 p.m. CT. It will be streamed on SEC Network+. Texas A&M senior OL finished the 2024 season as the country top run blocker
Texas A&M's 2024 offensive line didn't receive the praise it deserved compared to what we witnessed the season prior, as first-year OL coach Adam Cushing's immediate impact in the trenches is a great sign for the program's future. Offensively, Texas A&M produced 2,734 passing yards and 19 touchdowns, combined with 2,734 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns, aided by the run blocking from senior offensive lineman Ar'maj Reed-Adams, who started at right guard for most of the 2024 season. In late December, just weeks after the conclusion of the season, Reed-Adams announced his return for a final season with the Aggies amid rumors that he would declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, as every 2024 starter, including left tackle Trey Zuhn, left guard Chase Bisontis, injured center Mark Nabou, and right tackle duo Dametreious Crownover and Reuben Fatheree. According to Pro Football Focus, Reed-Adams finished the season with the highest run-blocking grade in the nation (86.1) and a 79.8 overall defensive grade, while 18 offensive linemen earned at least 60 grades for the season. With the return of star running back Le'Veon Moss, paired with Reuben Owens, Amari Daniels, and two freshmen additions, Texas A&M's running game will be the focus under OC Collin Klein, making Reed-Adam's return more critical.
