'It shows anything is possible' - Hibs go from relegation worries to Europe
From relegation candidates to the Europa League. It was some journey and one of the best runs by a team outside of the big two in Glasgow that we have seen."I've spoken to the players to remind them of the size of the achievement," Gray said."But also because of where we'd been and how the season started, the adversity at the start and when you think back to just before Christmas, we were still bottom of the league."So, to then turn it round and finish third shows an incredible run of form and it shows anything is possible and anything is achievable."The players deserve all the credit for that. That togetherness throughout the whole piece and the magnitude of the achievement."Due to Aberdeen's Scottish Cup win, Hibs will start in the second qualifying round of the Europa League with a place in the third qualifying round of the Conference League as a safety net."It's not something this club has done enough," he added."Finishing third, with the power of the big two in Scottish Football is almost like winning the league."European football is a genuine opportunity which will have its own challenges but it's brilliant, it's what everyone wants."You have to have a squad that is able to deal with that. But, it's brilliant for the football club."Next season, as the club celebrates its 150th year, could be another special one for Gray personally with the tantalising prospect of managing Hibs to the Scottish Cup on the 10th anniversary of his greatest moment."I'd certainly take it," he said."It would be a brilliant achievement. Top six, European football, but can you win a trophy?"I've been very fortunate to experience it. It is a genuine opportunity and ambition. Taylor didn't 'shirk' Tierney competition with Celtic exit
Greg Taylor says it would be unfair to suggest the return of Kieran Tierney forced him to leace Celtic and join Brendan Rodgers wanted to retain the 27-year-old's services despite agreeing in January the return of fellow Scotland defender Tierney once his contract ran out this summer with had been widely speculated that the possibility of Tierney becoming Celtic's first choice left-back led Taylor to reject the chance to extend his six-year stay with the Scottish champions."I would certainly not say that's fair," Taylor told Sky Sports. "I think there's been competition for my place at Celtic in the whole six years I was there and it was not something I ever shirked from. "I loved that, it drove me on, it helped me find my best level. So, no, I wouldn't say it was particularly Kieran coming back. It was just that I felt that it was probably the right time for me to try something different."Taylor, who won 11 trophies and made more than 200 appearances for Celtic, said leaving was "the biggest decision" of his career."When I left Kilmarnock back in 2019, it was that bit easier because I was progressing," he said."I wanted to go and try and play for the biggest team in Scotland and I think at that time there probably weren't many who believed I would play as many games as I did, but the one person that really did was myself."I was lucky to go and play 200-plus games for Celtic, which was unbelievable. It wasn't easy, there was a million things to weigh up, but I just felt it was the right time to do it. I wanted to play regularly and that's probably the big factor."Taylor admitted he had to give consideration to the fact he was walking away from the prospect of Champions League football this season."Yeah, it is," he said when asked if that was something he thought about."But I think in Greece that's one thing that was attractive about going to play was you've got those atmospheres, that intensity in the games, there's many big clubs in the league that are all competing for the title."Taylor revealed that he had other options but was impressed "to be shown that love" by PAOK, who were keen for him to become part of their 100-year anniversary next year."It was clear it was a big club and an important season," he said. "I thought it was the time to take the jump."It's going to be a real special season. The best way to make it special is by winning something and that something being the league. We're excited for that challenge."

Thelo Aasgaard to Rangers transfer fee 'revealed' as striker target makes decision on next destination
A former Rangers loan star is on his way back to Germany for big money as more arrivals expected at Ibrox Thelo Aasgaard is set to join Rangers in a £5million move from Luton Town. A deal to sign Leicester City defender Conor Coady is also being worked on. One player who won't be heading to Glasgow is Matija Frigan. The Croatian striker had been linked with a switch to Ibrox this summer, although the required fee to land him was a potential stumbling block. Now the Westerlo front man has chosen to link up with former boss Sergei Jakirovic at Hull City, according to reports in Croatia. The Tigers will pay the Belgians a fee of €7million to sign Frigan. meanwhile, former Rangers loan star Malik Tillman is on the move back to Germany. The USA international is set to join Bayer Leverkusen from PSV Eindhoven, with the Bundesliga side meeting his €35million release clause. Former club Bayern Munich - where Gers loaned Tillman from and who bought out the option to make the move permanent - had a buy back clauseinserted in the deal that took Tillman to PSV, but that has now passed. McColgan prodigy Tait sets sights on Olympics
Not only does Scottish track athlete Sarah Tait boast Eilish McColgan as one of her mentors but she also has taken one of her 24-year-old broke McColgan's 12-year Scottish record in the 3000m steeplechase at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition in Oregon last form earned her a place on the Great Britain team for the European Athletics Team Championships, where she finished second in the same event on her international Tait, who came through at Lasswade Athletics Club but is based in the United States, has set her sights on next year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a first Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028."I went to watch some of my teammates in Paris last year and I thought it was absolutely amazing what they were doing," Tait told BBC Scotland."I would love to be there one day, but I didn't think quite how realistic it would be and then just this year I am like: 'Do you know what, I am actually really close'."In a few year's time, I definitely believe that will be possible.""I have this new found belief in myself and that is definitely credit to my training group in the US and my training partners as well." McColgan 'always there for me' Tait was the first recipient of McColgan's 'Giving Back to Track' programme, which was set up three years ago to help young women make their way in plenty of support and encouragement, Tait says breaking her mentor's record was something she had targeted for a while."Eilish has supported and mentored me for a good few years now and she always said she thought I would be the one who would take her record down," she revealed."Eilish really took me under her wing. I am still in touch with her now, we still go back and forth. She always sends me a congratulations message, she is always there to support me and I am really grateful for everything she has done for me."Having just completed her studies at West Virginia University, Tait admits she is "still figuring things out" in terms of where she is going to base herself as she prepares for next summer's Commonwealth Games, which she says is her "priority".As a 13-year-old, Tait went to watch the athletics at Hampden Park when the games last visited the city in 2014."I just can't wait to hopefully be a part of it and be part of inspiring the next generation because that was me sitting in the stands watching - so I really hope that can be me on the start line this time," she added.
