Four Bangladeshi Nationals Held From Delhi's Azadpur Sabzi Mandi
All four were involved in begging at traffic signals and were using a banned app to stay in touch with their families to avoid detection
Delhi Police has apprehended four allegedly illegal Bangladeshi nationals disguised as transgender people from the Azadpur Sabzi Mandi area in northwest Delhi, an official said on Sunday.
The arrests came following a surveillance operation on Saturday and they have been handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further deportation proceedings.
All four were involved in begging at traffic signals and were using a banned app to stay in touch with their families to avoid detection, the officials said.
Police revealed that they had undergone minor surgeries and hormonal treatments to alter their appearances and evade detection.
The accused were identified as Md Armaan (21), Md Arif (26), Md Jahid (21) and Md Babul (40), all residents of Narayanganj in Bangladesh.
During interrogation, they admitted to illegally crossing borders and entering India with the help of agents and later travelling to Delhi by train, police said.
Police recovered two smartphones from their possession, both of which had a banned app, which the suspects used to contact their families in Bangladesh.

Bangladeshi national held near India-Nepal border
Motihari: A Bangladeshi national, Syed Iqbal Ahmed (43), who was trying to illegally enter into India through Raxaul integrated checkpost (ICP) on India-Nepal border, was arrested on Friday near Maitri bridge by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). On Saturday, Ahmed was produced before the SDJM, Raxaul, and remanded to jail custody under Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. Acting commandant of 47 battalion of SSB, Sanjay Rawat, said the SSB jawan posted at Maitri bridge found that the Bangladeshi national did not have a valid visa for India. He had a Bangladesh passport and visa for Nepal only. He had come to Kathmandu from Dhaka by air last week. During search, 50 US dollars, Bangladeshi and Nepal currencies were recovered from his possession. During investigation, it was revealed that he had plans to enter different cities of the country after entering through Nepal. "This activity is being considered extremely serious and suspicious from the point of view of national security," Rawat said. The Immigration sources said from April 26 to July 4, four Chinese, one each US, Canadian, South Korean, Iraq and Bangladeshi nationals had attempted to enter into India without valid documents through Raxaul. However, they were arrested and jailed. After 'Operation Sindoor' there is a high alert in the border area and a temporary checkpost has recently been set up by the SSB at the Maitri bridge before the ICP. According to intelligence department sources, information has been received about the arrival of seven Pakistani and Bangladeshi associated with the Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, in Nepal and all these suspects have been active near the India-Nepal border since the first week of June 2025.

2 habeas pleas in HC over Bengal workers detained in Odisha
Kolkata: Two habeas corpus petitions were filed in Calcutta High Court on Friday against Odisha Police for "illegal detention" of migrant workers from Bengal. Trinamool MP and chairman of West Bengal Migrant Workers' Welfare Board Samirul Islam said the parents of two workers filed the petitions to bring the detainees before the HC. On Thursday, Bengal chief secretary Manoj Pant wrote to his Odisha counterpart, Manoj Ahuja, for release of the detained workers and to stop their harassment, urging immediate intervention. The chief secretary of Odisha, SP of Jagatsinghpur and OC of Balikuda police station have been made parties in the petition along with the Bengal CS and Murshidabad district magistrate. Nasima Mondal, mother of detained Rakhibul Islam Mondal, a resident of Hariharpara in Murshidabad, filed one of the petitions. She sought judicial intervention under Article 226 of the Constitution. Rakhibul, a migrant labourer working at Jagatsinghpur, was detained beyond 24 hours without being produced before any court of law, she claimed. This was against Supreme Court's guidelines and his fundamental rights were violated, Nasima's petition said. The police, while conducting an identity verification drive on June 25, detained Rakhibul and other Bengali-speaking people without any warrant. Nasima said though her son had valid documents — including Aadhaar, voter ID and ration card — these were not taken into consideration. Rakhibul was detained on suspicion of being a Bangladeshi for speaking Bengali, her petition claimed, adding that Odisha officials did not even cross-check his identity. Rajjak claimed his son had been detained by Jagatsinghpur police since June 30 during the identification drive of Bengali-speaking people. Sainur has not been given any legal support to seek bail, he said, seeking his son to be produced before the court and his "lost dignity restored". Islam posted on X: "We have moved court against the barbaric torture and atrocity on migrant workers in BJP-governed states like Odisha. The atrocity on Bengali-speaking people is a sheer violation of the Constitution."

Nashik: Women should not shy away from dialling the Damini Squad helpline numbers if faced with untoward incidents requiring police intervention, the city police said on Thursday. From Jan 1 this year, the squad has filed cases against 4,736 troublemakers under the Maharashtra Police Act, in addition to stop-and-search operations at 1,120 deserted spots and 860 surveillance visits to schools and colleges. These actions were taken under the guidance of CP Sandeep Karnik and DCP Monica Raut. Damini squad members work in the four units of Sarkarwada, Panchavati, Ambad and Nashik Road. Senior officers said constables Mamta Dhoom and Komal Avhad detained a Bangladeshi woman from Mumbai Naka area.
