Touted Playmaker Admits to Change of Heart Possibility on Georgia
One Atlanta-based playmaker in the 2026 recruiting class is planning to begin his college football career for the Boise State Broncos. At least, that's his plan at the moment.

Three-star receiver Terrious Favors told On3's Jeremy Johnson that he is still communicating with the Bulldogs, who are pushing to convince the wideout to stay much closer to home for school.
'Coach Coley has been texting me every day, checking on me, sending me graphics about my track season because I just got out of track. So we've been communicating really well," Favors told Johnson. "They want me really bad. They've been saying that I need to come to Georgia.
"There's nobody like Georgia.'
Favors suggested a change in his commitment is possible.
'It would be a school I would consider if I were to decommit from Boise and pick somewhere else. They're really just a great program. They got Coach Kirby. He coached under Nick Saban, the best coach, probably of all time. He's got good experience with great players," added Favors.

Considered an athlete on the 247Sports composite rankings, Favors sits outside the top 50 at his position and on the Georgia in-state rankings. The composite rankings have him rated as the No. 818 prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

But the Bulldogs are eyeing Favors likely because of his speed.
"Favors' track speed grabbed Georgia's attention this spring. The Bulldogs' development of speedy players like Arian Smith has grabbed Favors' attention," wrote Johnson.
Despite his love for Georgia, Favors concluded saying his commitment to Boise State is "locked in." The Bulldogs, though, will have another crack at changing Favors' mind this weekend.
Rivals' Jed May reported Thursday Favors will take an official visit to Athens, Georgia this weekend.

Mavericks hire Ethan Casson in new role as president under CEO Rick Welts
DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks hired Ethan Casson in a new role as president Tuesday, giving CEO Rick Welts someone to handle daily operations on the business side while he focuses on the franchise's plans for a new arena. Casson was most recently CEO of the Minnesota Timberwolves along with the WNBA's Lynx and the G-League's Iowa Wolves. He served in that role for nine years. The addition of Casson comes seven months after Welts came out of retirement to replace Cynt Marshall, who was hired by then-owner Mark Cuban in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal in the business office of the Mavericks. Cuban sold his majority interest in the club to the Las Vegas-based Adelson and Dumont families in late 2023. Patrick Dumont took over as the team's governor, with Cuban keeping a minority stake and becoming alternate governor. 'The Mavericks are committed to being an elite professional sports franchise, and fundamental to that goal is adding top-tier executives like Ethan Casson to our senior management team,' Dumont said. Welts has said the club hopes to open a new arena in 2031. In his previous role with Golden State, Welts spearheaded the plan that moved the Warriors across the bay to San Francisco from Oakland. The Mavericks share American Airlines Center with the NHL's Dallas Stars, and Welts has said the NBA club anticipates going solo with a new arena. Welts has said the Mavs want the new arena to be in Dallas rather than one of the suburbs. Before joining the Timberwolves, Casson was CEO of the San Francisco 49ers when the NFL franchise made the move to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara from Candlestick Park. Casson struck the naming rights deal with Levi's. 'He will be my partner in charting the team into the future and will allow me to devote more time to our strategic priorities, including the building of our new arena and entertainment district in Dallas, and our transition from a basketball organization to a sports and entertainment company operating our own venue,' Welts said. ___ AP NBA:

Consortium 'ready' to buy ailing Morecambe
London-based sports investment company Panjab Warriors have released a statement to say they are "ready, willing and able" to buy Morecambe. The Shrimps were suspended by the National League until 20 August on Monday over failing to comply with the league's rules. Panjab Warriors have been in talks with the club's owner Jason Whittingham for over a year and a deal had looked set to be concluded earlier this summer. They have now said in a joint-statement with minority shareholders, the Shrimps Trust and Lizzi Collinge MP that the National League is ready to sanction the deal and "immediately lift the suspension and embargo should it be agreed". BBC investigates takeover turmoil behind Morecambe suspension Morecambe suspended from the National League Morecambe owner 'not heard from' potential bidder As it stands, Morecambe's fixture away to Boston United on 9 August, their first home game against Brackley Town on 16 August, and the trip to Scunthorpe United on 19 August, will no longer take place as scheduled. Whittingham, who has been looking to sell the club since 2022, announced a new buyer, named as a consortium led by Jonny Cato, had been found earlier in July, but it remains unclear where that bid also stands. Whittingham said on Sunday he had "not heard from" Panjab Warriors in the past week and talks with Cato were ongoing. The Lancashire side, who were promoted to League One in 2021, were relegated from League Two last season - their second relegation in the past three seasons.

Braves Blockbuster? Atlanta Ace Could Be Valuable Trade Deadline Piece
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Atlanta Braves should be very aggressive sellers at the trade deadline. With a few days to go, Atlanta could be looking to cut ties with more than a handful of its best players. FanSided's Christopher Kline recently suggested the Braves could cut ties with ace Chris Sale despite a lack of hard evidence that Atlanta is looking to do so. ATLANTA, GA - JULY 15: Jacob deGrom #48 of the Texas Rangers and Chris Sale #51 of the Atlanta Braves talk before the MLB All-Star Game at Truist Park on July 15, 2025 in Atlanta,... ATLANTA, GA - JULY 15: Jacob deGrom #48 of the Texas Rangers and Chris Sale #51 of the Atlanta Braves talk before the MLB All-Star Game at Truist Park on July 15, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia. More Matthew Grimes Jr./"All the reporting around Chris Sale suggests that Atlanta will pick up his $18 million club option for next season and run it back. That is reasonable. Sale won the NL Cy Young award in 2024 and he was a frontrunner yet again this season before an unfortunate rib injury," Kline wrote. "And yet, Sale is also 36 years old, with a long and troubling history of injuries far worse than a broken rib. It is more than fair to wonder if Atlanta is best served by selling high. "Sale, even hurt and even at his advanced age, would return a huge haul for the Braves. Contenders would line up around the block to add arguably the best left-handed arm in the National League. Sale's résumé has few equals in MLB and he's still throwing absolute gas in his 'old' age. He should be back for the playoffs in October, so this injury (in theory) is only a temporary setback." Let's be clear. The Braves haven't shown any indication that they're looking to trade Sale, but it's reasonable to speculate. Atlanta has all the pieces to compete next year if the right moves are made, but it would be very easy for their front office to be blown away by an offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox. These teams have solid farm systems and a huge need for an ace. At the end of the day, it's unlikely, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.
