4-star QB Bryson Beaver announces commitment to Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks have their quarterback in the class of 2026. On Wednesday, 4-star QB Bryson Beaver officially announced that he would be joining the Ducks this cycle, a commitment that comes less than a month after his decommitment from the Boise State Broncos. Beaver is a fast-rising prospect who has seen his recruitment blow up over the last month. Since receiving an offer from Oregon on June 11, Beaver has watched as several other offers poured in from the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, Colorado, LSU, and Auburn. He has also taken a handful of visits to SEC country, turned heads at the Elite 11 Finals, and ended up in Eugene for an official visit as well. Now his recruitment comes full circle with a commitment to the Ducks, taking over as their lone QB in the 2026 class. Beaver received a recruiting bump this week on 247Sports, jumping up from the No. 71-ranked QB in the class to No. 17, while also moving from a 3-star player to a 4-star. The Ducks were originally after players like 5-star QB Jared Curtis and 5-star QB Ryder Lyons. Still, they've done a great job of pivoting and identifying a fast-rising prospect midway through the cycle and getting him as a member of the program. Touted Playmaker Admits to Change of Heart Possibility on Georgia
Touted Playmaker Admits to Change of Heart Possibility on Georgia originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One Atlanta-based playmaker in the 2026 recruiting class is planning to begin his college football career for the Boise State Broncos. At least, that's his plan at the moment. Advertisement Three-star receiver Terrious Favors told On3's Jeremy Johnson that he is still communicating with the Bulldogs, who are pushing to convince the wideout to stay much closer to home for school. 'Coach Coley has been texting me every day, checking on me, sending me graphics about my track season because I just got out of track. So we've been communicating really well," Favors told Johnson. "They want me really bad. They've been saying that I need to come to Georgia. "There's nobody like Georgia.' Favors suggested a change in his commitment is possible. 'It would be a school I would consider if I were to decommit from Boise and pick somewhere else. They're really just a great program. They got Coach Kirby. He coached under Nick Saban, the best coach, probably of all time. He's got good experience with great players," added Favors. Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Considered an athlete on the 247Sports composite rankings, Favors sits outside the top 50 at his position and on the Georgia in-state rankings. The composite rankings have him rated as the No. 818 prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Advertisement But the Bulldogs are eyeing Favors likely because of his speed. "Favors' track speed grabbed Georgia's attention this spring. The Bulldogs' development of speedy players like Arian Smith has grabbed Favors' attention," wrote Johnson. Despite his love for Georgia, Favors concluded saying his commitment to Boise State is "locked in." The Bulldogs, though, will have another crack at changing Favors' mind this weekend. Rivals' Jed May reported Thursday Favors will take an official visit to Athens, Georgia this weekend. 2026 QB Bryson Beaver decommits from Boise State following Oregon Ducks offer
2026 QB Bryson Beaver decommits from Boise State following Oregon Ducks offer The Oregon Ducks extended an intriguing scholarship offer on Thursday night, reaching out to Boise State Broncos quarterback commit Bryson Beaver, a 3-star recruit in the 2026 class. After watching Beaver throw in a recruiting camp, the Ducks started courting him and extended the offer. Less than a day later, Beaver has reportedly decommitted from Boise State and opened up his recruitment once again. Beaver, who stands at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 1,092 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 72 quarterback. On3 rates his as the No. 22 QB, though. He had been committed to the Boise State Broncos since April of this year but has been picking up some interest from other schools. Per his 247Sports profile, Beaver was also visited by Ohio State Buckeyes' coach Billy Fessler last month. Beaver currently has offers from the likes of Boise State, Utah, Hawaii, Nevada, California, and UNLV, among others. The Ducks are in on 5-star QB Ryder Lyons, who is visiting this weekend in Eugene but are expected to try and get another 2026 QB as well since Lyons plans to take an LDS mission after high school and won't enroll until 2027; no matter where he commits. Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports/ File Photo Purchase Licensing Rights, opens new tab Boise State coach Spencer Danielson finalized a new five-year, $11 million contract after leading the Broncos to the College Football Playoff last season, ESPN reported Tuesday. The average annual value of $2.2 million reportedly doubles the salary Danielson earned in his first full season running the program in 2024. The Reuters Daily Briefing newsletter provides all the news you need to start your day. Sign up here. Danielson, 36, guided the Broncos to a Mountain West Conference title and finished 12-2 following a 31-14 loss in the CFP to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl on Dec. 31. He was named the MWC Coach of the Year. Danielson is 15-3 overall, including his tenure as Boise State's interim coach in late 2023 following the firing of Andy Avalos after a 5-5 start that season. His new deal will start at $2 million per year and increase by $100,000 each year during the five-year term. The only Mountain West coach who earns more annually is UNLV's Dan Mullen at $3.5 million for 2025. Danielson has been coaching at Boise State since 2017 when he arrived as a graduate assistant. He served as the defensive coordinator from 2021-23. --Field Level Media Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles., opens new tab

Will Bears Move Up In The Draft To Land A Cornerstone Player?
GLENDALE, ARIZONA - DECEMBER 31: Ashton Jeanty #2 of the Boise State Broncos runs the ball during ... More the fourth quarter against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the 2024 Vrbo Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium on December 31, 2024 in Glendale, Arizona. Penn State defeated Boise State 31-14. (Photo by) There's no way to know what the Bears are going to do with their first-round pick in Thursday night's draft. If you knew how the first nine were going to fall you could make an educated guess about Ryan Poles' thinking with No. 10, but even then it would be a guessing game. This much seems certain: Poles' focus is on improving the offense around second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, who was outplayed by Jayden Daniels as a rookie. The players of the highest interest for the Bears seem to be running back Ashton Jeanty, tackle Will Campbell and tight end Tyler Warren, with the perceived second-best tackle, Armand Membou, possibly also a major consideration. But if those standouts are flying off the board, Poles may have to make an uncomfortable decision to move up in the draft before they're all gone. The options are to stay put and take the best available player, regardless of position — most likely looking to a defensive player — or make trades to move down in the draft, where the price wouldn't be as high to take a less celebrated prospect. If Poles wanted to move downward, he could turn the seven picks he's holding into 10 or even 11 players. One projection compiled using Pro Football Focus' draft simulator showed the Bears with 11 players, including running back Omarion Hampton at 22, tackle Josh Conerly Jr at 31 and tight end Elijah Arroyo at 65. It's questionable whether those players will last that long, but you get the idea. But what if Poles covets Jeanty, Campbell, Membou and Warren so much he wants to move up in the draft? That would mean he'd have to be creative to have seven or more picks when the draft ends Saturday. The most realistic possibility might be the Charlotte Panthers, a familiar trade partner for Poles who this year are holding nine picks. The issue for General Manager Dan Morgan is that there's a gap of 49 picks between their first-rounder and their second-rounder, which started out with the Rams. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported the Panthers are looking for more picks. The Bears are holding two second-rounders (39, which came to the Bears in the swap of the first overall pick in 2023, and 41), which would make them a good fit if Poles has a chance to land Jeanty, Campbell, Membou or Warren. Trades during the draft come in a variety of ways but rarely stray too far from the chart NFL Hall of Famer Jimmy Johnson drew up. He assigned a value to each of the first 224 picks (although this year's draft runs 257 picks). The best fit for the Panthers and Bears has Chicago sending Carolina the 10th and 41st picks this year for the eighth this year and a second-rounder in 2026. Another combination that makes some sense is that the Bears send Carolina the 41st overall for the 74th overall after swapping picks in the first round. The Johnson chart says the Bears could also ask for the 114th overall but you wonder if Morgan would do a three-for-two swap in terms of picks. That answer lies in how badly he wants to add a pick in the second round rather than wait for his one in the third to come around. Jacksonville (No. 5), Las Vegas (No. 6), the Jets (No.7) and New Orleans (No. 9) are also candidates for potential upward moves by the Bears. The cost of doing such business is most expensive with the Jaguars and least with the Saints. The Johnson chart says the cost for the Bears to move into the fifth spot would be swapping the 41st overall — the second of Chicago's two second-rounders — for the 107th overall, which is the first of Jacksonville's two fourth-rounders. Poles would have to be awfully motivated to make this move but don't rule it out. Don't rule anything out, for that matter. The first two hours on Thursday night are going to be fascinating.
