Colorado football added another defensive commit to its 2026 recruiting class.
Three-star linebacker Colby Johnson committed to the Buffaloes on Tuesday. He chose Colorado over his other top schools, San Diego State, Washington State and the Arizona Wildcats. Colorado hosted the linebacker from Sammamish, Washington, on June 13 for an official visit.
247Sports Composite had Johnson ranked as the No. 104 overall linebacker nationally and No. 11 player out of Washington. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker announced his commitment on social media.
"I am extremely blessed to announce my official commitment to the University of Colorado! I want to thank god for all of the blessings along this journey," Johnson said in his announcement. "Lets go build something special, Go Buffs!!!"
Head coach Deion Sanders and Colorado now add their fifth recruit to their 2026 class. The Buffs have mostly wrapped up their official visits, with a class ranking of No. 100 in the nation before Johnson's commitment.
According to Rivals, the Buffaloes narrowly beat out San Diego State for his commitment. Colorado had 50.5% of his commitment, beating out the Aztecs' 44.2%.

Blue-chip OL sets commitment date, Longhorns in top four

Texas has multiple offensive linemen committed for the 2026 cycle. On July 4, they have a great opportunity to add one of the top players not only at his position but in the entire country. That's when five-star Felix Ojo will make his decision between Texas, Ohio State, Florida, and Michigan per Hayes Fawcett. Back in May, Texas got the only crystal ball prediction for Ojo. As things currently stand, the Longhorns have the No. 12 recruiting class. However, with five-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright as a high possibility also, snagging Ojo as well would likely get them into the top 10. Florida and Ohio State hosted Ojo for official visits in May. He took one to Michigan in June, but his final visit from his list of top contenders went to Texas a week later on June 13. Ojo is the nation's No. 7 overall player and the No. 2 offensive tackle according to 247Sports composite rankings. They also have the 6-foot-6, 275-pounder as the No. 1 prospect in the state of Texas. The Longhorns were both last month adding commitments with seven. They haven't had one since June 22 when four-star edge Richard Wesley made his pledge. Being able to get Ojo would get the recruitment trail rolling again.
