Aamir Khan recalls refusing underworld party invite despite threats: I said no
Actor Aamir Khan has opened up about a tense encounter with the underworld during the peak of his stardom in the 90s. Sharing the experience in a recent interview, Aamir recalled being approached with an invitation to a party- reportedly hosted in the Middle East by underworld figures. Despite repeated pressure, monetary offers, and threats, the actor stood firm and refused to attend, fearing for the safety of his loved ones.advertisementSpeaking to India Today's sister channel, The Lallantop, Aamir recounted, 'I'd said no to the invite to attend their party in the Middle East, probably Dubai. Some people from the underworld had visited me to invite me to the party.'While he did not reveal who was behind the invite, he clarified, 'I don't take names, even of people from my industry. That's my nature.' He added that they tried hard to persuade him, 'They tried a lot. They offered me money and offered to get any work done of my choosing. I still refused to come. They quickly changed their tone and said I'd have to come now because my presence had already been announced, and it was a prestige issue.' advertisement View this post on Instagram A post shared by podvisions5 (@podvisions5)
Aamir said he made his stance clear in what would be their final meeting. 'I said, 'You've been meeting for a month and I've been telling you right from the start that I wouldn't come. You're very powerful so you can bash me up, hit me on the head, tie my hands and legs, and take me forcibly wherever you want, but I wouldn't come on my own.' So they stopped contacting me after that.'The actor admitted he was terrified during the ordeal, not just for himself but for his family. 'I had two small kids then. My parents were very concerned. They said, 'What are you doing? They're very dangerous.' So I had said only one thing to them then, 'I want to live my life the way I want. I don't want to go there.'' He added, 'I was more concerned for the ones close to me.'At the time, Aamir was married to Reena Dutta, with whom he had two children - Junaid (born in 1993) and Ira (born in 1997). The couple divorced in 2002 but remain on cordial terms.Interestingly, years later, Aamir was in talks to star in 'Mogul', a biopic of T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar, who was shot dead by the underworld in 1997. The film, produced by Bhushan Kumar and directed by Subhash Kapoor, saw Aamir exit the project, after which Akshay Kumar was considered for the role. The project has since seen no major updates.- EndsMust Watch

You don't need to be a billionaire to recreate this pasta alla nerano served at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding!
The Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding raised a lot of eyebrows, primarily owing to its $50 million price tag. Now if you're dropping 50-mil on a wedding, you won't be wrong to expect the best of the best. Golden details coming out about the billionaire's Venetian nuptials, reveal that the catering was handled by chef Fabrizio Mellino, one of the youngest cooks to ever achieve three Michelin stars. Part of this mouthwatering lineup reportedly, was also the Amalfi coast special pasta alla nerano. You don't need to be a billionaire to try this pasta alla nerano served at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's Venice wedding!(Photos: Marcellina in Cucina, Instagram/laurensachezbezos) Now you may not be able to afford a $50 million dollar wedding, but this pasta? That you can definitely whip up in your kitchen. So follow the recipe below. Ingredients: Spaghetti - 500gms, small to medium zucchini - 5 (sliced into 4mm bits), olive oil - 1/4 cup, salt - 2tsps (divided), extra virgin olive oil - 3tbsps, garlic cloves - 4, unsalted butter - 1tbsp, grated Caciocavallo cheese - 1.25 cups, black pepper to taste, chopped basil - 1/4 cup (packed), reserved pasta water - 2 cups Method: Fry the zucchini in olive oil until each side is golden brown for about 3 minutes per side. Transfer the cooked zucchini to a large pan lined with paper towels, and immediately sprinkle with salt. Do this for each batch. Side by side, boil the spaghetti in generously salted water (2 tablespoons of salt per 3.5 litres of water in a good estimate) until al dente. Once the spaghetti cooks through, heat a fresh pan over medium-low heat and sauté the garlic cloves in 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil until they start crisping up. Once golden, remove and discard the garlic — these can go on as a garnish for any other savoury dish you may have in the works. Now to the same pan, add the butter, a ladleful of pasta water, and half of the fried zucchini. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then use a wooden spoon to mash the zucchini against the side of the pan. This should give you a loose, pulpy sauce. Now toss in the spaghetti and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes. Turn off the heat and add the Caciocavallo cheese. Toss the spaghetti to melt the cheese and create a creamy, emulsified sauce. If the mixture seems too dry, gradually add a few tablespoons of pasta water at a time, tossing again until you get a silky smooth feel. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper to your taste. Stir in the fresh basil or parsley, then plate the pasta immediately, topping each portion with the remaining fried zucchini slices. Serve with some more grated Caciocavallo. Pecorino Romano also makes for a great choice for the final dusting of cheese on the pasta. The actor took to his Instagram to post that he was on a flight from Hyderabad to Kochi last week, which had to be diverted to Coimbatore due to a technical issue. Antony Varghese shared his experience of being on an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad that had to be diverted. Antony wrote on Instagram that he was still 'in awe' of what happened aboard IndiGo 6E 67070 from Hyderabad to Kochi last week. What seemed like a 'routine flight' turned into something 'straight out of a movie', he wrote. 'As we approached Kochi, the weather turned wild. The first landing attempt was aborted just a few feet above the runway. The second try was even more intense – we were right there, almost touching down, when the pilot made a split-second decision to pull up and not land. Without even brushing the runway, she lifted the aircraft back into the skies. Goosebumps,' he wrote. Antony praised the calm with which the pilot and crew handled it all, writing, 'With incredible calm and clarity, she diverted the flight to Coimbatore for refuelling. You could feel the tension in the cabin – people were panicked, shaken. But the way the crew, all women, handled the situation was nothing short of inspiring.' The flight eventually landed in Kochi after refuelling in Coimbatore. 'As soon as the wheels touched down, the cabin erupted into applause. To the phenomenal women in the cockpit and the cabin – your quick decision, and professionalism turned a terrifying situation into a moment of deep respect and gratitude. Thank you for showing us what true grace under pressure looks like,' he wrote. IndiGo left a comment under his post, thanking him for acknowledging their staff working well under pressure. Fans also commented under the post, happy that Antony was safe, given the recent Air India plane crash that left 241 people dead. Recent work Antony, also known by his screen name Pepe, debuted in Malayalam films with the 2017 film Angamaly Diaries, in which he played Vincent Pepe. He was most recently seen in Kondal and Daveed. He will soon star in Kattalan.
