From rejection to Big Winner: Mika Salamanca reintroduces herself after 'PBB' win

GMA Network2 days ago
Ten years after being rejected from "Pinoy Big Brother," Mika Salamanca has finally lived out her dream and reigned victorious in the reality TV series.
On Instagram, one-half of the Big Winner duo looked back on her "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" journey with a photo carousel of some of her memorable moments inside the house.
'Pumasok ako ng 'PBB' na may dalang konting damit at pangarap lang, kaya hindi ko in-expect na aabot ako sa dulo, 'cause [what do you mean] umabot talaga tayo sa dulo?! No way, legit?" she wrote in disbelief.
The "Sang'gre" actress revealed this wasn't her first try in "PBB," recalling how she didn't make the cut when she auditioned for the show 10 years ago.
'Ten years ago, 'di ako pinalad na makapasok sa 'PBB,' siguro dahil hindi pa ko ready,' she said.
"I'm a firm believer that when plans don't go your way, it's because God has a bigger one, at ito yun!" she added.
Mika also shared how she focused on staying true to herself throughout the season, which eventually led to her victory.
'Hanggang ngayon po, hindi ko pa rin po maintindihan kung ano ang ginawa kong tama sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya para maging 'Big Winner' dahil ang ginawa ko lang naman po ay ang bilin ng mga mahal ko sa buhay—ang maging ako,' she said.
"Thank you for letting me reintroduce myself," Mika said. 'Words are not enough to explain how overwhelmed I am sa lahat ng sumalubong na pagmamahal sa amin.'
She also gave emotional tributes to her fellow housemates, particularly Shuvee Etrata, Klarisse de Guzman, Dustin Yu, her final duo partner Brent Manalo, and Bianca De Vera, whom she called her "Immunity Queen."
Addressing her ka-duo Brent, Mika said, "from your manifestation sa first duo formation to being the final duo to being the first duo big winner! You really made this journey easier by carrying my emotions with me."
"You never made me feel na mabigat yung baggage ko kasi lagi kang ready na sumalo," she added.
Mika wrapped up her message by thanking the "PBB" production and management teams, her friends and family, and, of course, Kuya.
"For the last time, ako po si Mika, Ang Controversial Ca-Babe-Len Ng Pampanga," she said.
Mika and Brent, known as BreKa, emerged as the Big Winners of "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition," the first duo to share the title in the show's history.
"Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" is getting a second season later this year.
The 20 housemates of the first edition are set to reunite at an event titled "The Big ColLOVE" on August 10, 8 p.m., at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
More details, including ticket prices, will be revealed soon.

Juharra Asayo grateful for positive feedback on her portrayal of young Terra

Juharra Asayo is overjoyed and deeply grateful for the positive feedback she has received for her performance as young Terra in "Sang'gre." According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, aside from her acting prowess and her morena features, many have also noticed the child actress' striking resemblance to Bianca Umali. "Surprised ako kasi ang ganda po ni Ate Bianca. I mean, nakaka-shock po 'yung beauty niya. And nagpapasalamat po ako kasi ang dami pong nagsasabi na kamukha ko siya," Juharra said. Even Bianca had acknowledged their resemblance and expressed admiration for Juharra's performance. "Masaya ako kasi Ate Bianca, ang galing niya po umarte. Receiving na compliment galing sa kaniya, thankful po ko at tsaka nakakalambot po ng puso," Juharra said. The role has even made her popular among her classmates, who often playfully tease her. "Lagi po nila sinasabi, 'Ilabas mo 'yung brilyante mo, ilabas mo 'yung brilyante mo!' Kaya nakakatuwa lang din kasi ang dami din po talagang nagsu-support," she said. Will Ashley ready to help Jillian Ward, Sofia Pablo settle reported rift

Will Ashley is willing to be the instrument to help Jillian Ward and Sofia Pablo settle their reported rift. In his GMA Integrated News interview with Nelson Canlas, which aired in "24 Oras" Tuesday, Will shared he is not in a position to say the reason behind Jillian and Sofia's feud. "Kasi honestly hindi rin naman po ako 'yung makakapag-ayos nun kundi silang dalawa lang naman din po," he said. However, Will is ready to help Jillian and Sofia bury the hatchet if they are both open to talking to each other. "Kung mabibigyan ako ng pagkakataon at pareho po silang bukas para mag-usap or maayos kung ano man po talaga 'yung pinagmulan po talaga or ano po 'yung napakaraming rason po nun, gagawin ko po," he said. In January, Sofia opened up on the reported feud between her and Jillian in an interview with GMA Integrated News. According to Sofia, their conflict started in the first season of their GMA Afternoon Prime series "Prima Donnas," which started airing in 2019. However, she did not say the reason behind the rift. Sofia added that she does not want her and Jillian to have an issue since they are both at the peak of their careers. Following Sofia's remarks, Jillian gave her reaction, saying she does not have time to fight with anyone. She also said that she does not know where the narrative that she and Sofia are fighting came from. Will also confirmed in January this year that he had a rift with Sofia in the past, but they had already resolved it. Per Will, he and Sofia got to talk about their misunderstanding before they started taping "Prinsesa ng City Jail." "Kumbaga isang tinik ang nabunot after how many years. Totoo naman po 'yon kasi parang nagkaroon lang din ng misunderstanding. Kumbaga hindi kami nagkaroon ng chance makapag-usap nang gano'n katagal kasi nga pareho din kaming na-busy," he had said. Will is fresh from his "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" journey where he and his duo Ralph De Leon finished as second big placer on Big Night. The duo of Mika Salamanca and Brent Manalo were hailed the big winners. —CDC, GMA Integrated News
