‘Virasat se vikas ki ore': Delhi Assembly marks 100 days with Visionary Report Card
The event was graced by Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Corporate Affairs, Harsh Malhotra, who attended as the Chief Guest. Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, presided over the ceremony, joined on stage by Social Welfare Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh, Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, and Chief Whip Abhay Verma.
In his address, Malhotra praised the Delhi Assembly's functioning and commended the report card as a 'reflection of noteworthy accomplishments.' He lauded the report's theme, 'Virasat se Vikas ki Ore' and fondly recalled his early days in public service under the mentorship of Speaker Vijender Gupta, whose discipline and dedication, he said, continue to inspire his parliamentary work.
The Union Minister also noted a positive shift in the Assembly's proceedings over the past 100 days. 'The sessions have remained orderly and disruption-free, which was uncommon earlier. Gupta has strengthened democratic practices by ensuring equal opportunity for the opposition and maintaining the dignity of the House,' he said. He further described the Assembly building as a 'living heritage' that must be preserved for future generations.
Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasized the Assembly's commitment to transparency, sustainable growth, and cultural preservation, stating that the report card goes beyond legislative statistics to showcase a progressive and citizen-focused legislative culture.
Among the key accomplishments of the past 100 days was the successful implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which enabled the Assembly to transition to a completely paperless format—an important step toward digital governance. In support of environmental sustainability, the Assembly also laid the foundation for a 500-kilowatt solar power plant, reinforcing its move toward green energy practices.
Additionally, the traditional Assembly library was transformed into a Digital Knowledge Center, providing better access to legislative resources. A comprehensive plan has also been initiated for the conservation of the Assembly's architectural and historical heritage, ensuring that its legacy is preserved for future generations.
The report card also outlined several initiatives designed to promote engagement and excellence within and beyond the legislative environment. These included the introduction of the "Best Legislator Award" to recognize outstanding performance among MLAs, as well as orientation programs for newly elected legislators to help them understand procedural and policy matters.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that the threat of Naxalism is now confined to just five-six districts in the country. Speaking at an event in Hyderabad on Friday, Singh highlighted how former Naxal strongholds are transforming. 'Naxal hubs have become educational hubs today,' he noted. Referring to the infamous 'Red Corridor', Singh added that the region is now turning into a 'growth corridor'. His statement comes days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah made it clear that the central government has no intention of holding discussions with armed Naxal groups. 'Our policy is 'no talks' with those who hold arms. Give up weapons, surrender, and join the mainstream,' he said while addressing a rally after inaugurating the National Headquarters of the Turmeric Board. Shah added that in the last 18 months alone, over 2,000 Naxalites have surrendered, and more than 10,000 people in the Northeast have laid down arms and joined mainstream society. Some have even taken part in elections at various levels. Reaffirming the government's resolve, Shah said, 'We have decided that before 31 March 2026, Naxalism will be finished in this country.' He also pointed out the human cost of Naxal violence. 'Around 40,000 lives have been lost in four decades of Naxal violence in Adivasi areas,' he said.

MSMEs making significant contribution to India's GDP: Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi
Mumbai: Underlining that India is the fourth-largest economy in the world, Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday said that the MSMEs contribute 30.1 per cent to the country's GDP, 35.4 per cent to manufacturing and 45.73 per cent to exports, adding that along with the agriculture sector, MSMEs will play a significant role in India becoming the third-largest economy in the world by 2029. Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the MSME sector is playing an important role in providing employment to entrepreneurs who invest less than big industries and in making them entrepreneurs. It is also working to provide training to new entrepreneurs from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in rural and urban areas and provide them with loans by providing bank guarantees. 'Through the Udyam portal, new entrepreneurs who are employed by the MSME department, the registration is done. They are being helped in Udyam Assist by providing training, getting bank loans and starting a business. So far, the MSME department has done the process of providing employment to 34 crore unemployed people in the country. Due to this, the department has fulfilled the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide employment to 22 crore unemployed people,' said the minister. According to the minister, small businesses are helped through the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana. They are also given training through the MSME department and are given initial assistance of Rs 15,000 to set up their businesses. Depending on the nature of their work, the standard of work and the quality of their work, assistance ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4 lakh is provided. He also said that their financial self-reliance is being increased by starting businesses at the local level. 'The Prime Minister's Employment Guarantee Scheme is being implemented in urban and rural areas to provide opportunities for self-reliance to women and youth. Under this, loans are provided after providing training to those registered on the Udyam portal. So far, 80.33 lakh jobs have been provided under the Prime Minister's Employment Guarantee Scheme," the Union Minister said. He also said that 80 per cent of this has been provided in rural areas and 20 per cent in urban areas. The MSME department is constantly striving to empower women and make the youth self-reliant, and trained unemployed youth are guaranteed up to Rs 5 crore under the Credit Guarantee Scheme for large industries. Due to this, a large number of new entrepreneurs are coming forward in this industry, he said. The Minister said that the National SC-ST Hub is run under the Ministry of MSME to empower entrepreneurs from SC, ST communities for entrepreneurship. The goal is to provide procurement policies and market opportunities. They are supported by government schemes, financial aid and loans. Along with this, the government also purchases the goods produced by them when there is no demand in the market. So far, the government has purchased goods worth Rs 3,500 crore, he added. Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the MSME is also cooperating in tool rooms and technology. Such industries are operating in Mumbai and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. 'In this too, 22,440 unemployed people have been trained so far. The department will train 10 crore unemployed people by 2029 and make them employment-oriented,' he added.

Delhi Speaker sets up House panels for welfare of senior citizens
New Delhi: Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Friday announced the formation of Special Committees for the welfare of senior citizens and five other House panels, taking the number of such MLA groups to 35, an official said. The new panels announced by Gupta include those focused on critical areas such as the welfare of senior citizens, peace and harmony, and the welfare of transgenders and persons with disabilities, among others. These Special Committees have been constituted to strengthen institutional mechanisms and ensure focused attention on the concerns of marginalised and underrepresented communities, said an official of the Assembly Secretariat. The formation of 35 House Committees has taken place in four phases — 11 committees were formed in the first phase, seven in the second, 11 in the third, and the latest six in the fourth phase. Gupta stated that with the addition of these new Committees, the Assembly reinforces its commitment to responsive and equitable legislation. The six Special Committees announced for the financial year 2025-26 include the Special Committee on Salary and Other Allowances of Members of Delhi Legislative Assembly, headed by Abhay Kumar Verma. Its members include Gajender Singh Yadav, Poonam Sharma, Raj Kumar Chauhan, Sanjeev Jha, Surya Prakash Khatri, Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Vishesh Ravi, and Chaudhary Zubair Ahmad. Sanjay Goyal will head the Special House Committee on Violation of Protocol Norms and Contemptuous Behaviour by Government Officers with MLAs. Its members include Anil Goyal, Anil Jha, Anil Kumar Sharma, Jarnail Singh, Karnail Singh, Kulwant Rana, Om Prakash Sharma, and Surya Prakash Khatri. The Special Committee on the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will have Ravinder Singh Negi as its chairperson. Its members include Ajay Dutt, Aaley Mohammed Iqbal, Ashok Goel, Atishi, Kulwant Rana, Manoj Kumar Shokeen, Raj Kumar Bhatia, and Sandeep Sehrawat. Chandan Kumar Choudhary has been appointed the chairperson of the Special Committee on Peace and Harmony. Its members include Aaley Mohammed Iqbal, Ashok Goel, Kulwant Rana, Manoj Kumar Shokeen, Neelam Pahalwan, Punardeep Singh Sawhney, Shyam Sharma, and Surya Prakash Khatri. The Special Committee on Welfare of Senior Citizens will be headed by Tilak Ram Gupta. Its members include Jitender Mahajan, Kartar Singh Tanwar, Om Prakash Sharma, Pawan Sharma, Ram Singh Netaji, Satish Upadhyay, Umang Bajaj and Veer Singh Dhingan. The Special Committee on Welfare of Transgenders and Persons with Disability will be headed by Karnail Singh. Its members include Anil Goyal, Harish Khurana, Kailash Gahlot, Kailash Gangwal, Manoj Kumar Shokeen, Prem Chauhan, Shikha Roy, and Virender Singh Kadian. Speaker Gupta said that the formation of these Special Committees reflects the Assembly's evolving role in addressing emerging challenges. He emphasised that these Committees are not only institutional mechanisms but also instruments of social responsibility, created to ensure that concerns of senior citizens, transgenders, persons with disabilities, and other underserved communities receive focused legislative attention and timely redressal.
