But a peak of only 1.5m tuned in to watch the show's launch last week and then it scraped 1m on Monday.
Instead of July 14th's launch, more viewers - ironically - watched a rerun of Death In Paradise from series 11, which first aired in 2021.
The BBC's repeat of Ralf Little's gentle crime drama drew in 1.8m during the same 9pm to 10pm time slot.
And BBC2's stroll through the evolution of man, Human, attracted 1.6m.
Shark! fared no better this week either, when double - 2m - tuned in to BBC1's Fake or Fortune? antiques show.
Both weeks, the most watched show of the evening was Coronation Street, with 3.3m and 3m watching respectively.
It comes after David Tennant's gameshow The Genius Game was branded an "expensive flop" after the £2.5m series drew an average audience of 661,000 by the end.
In the five-part show, seven brave celebrities spent several weeks taking to dangerous waters in an effort to overcome their fears and also deliver an ecological message.
The line-up also included comedians Ross Noble and Lucy Punch as well as McFly star Dougie Poynter and athlete Ade Adepitan.
In the early episodes viewers have watched Helen battle with her fear of the sea after a childhood incident at an aqua park left her scared of even entering the water.

The actress, who plays Trixie in Call The Midwife, found even being lowered into the depths in a cage too much and begged to be released.
Mum-of-two Helen, 41, said: 'I was terrified of putting my head underwater.
'I have a real deep-rooted fear.
'My kids know that I am scared of the water, and my seven-year-old is more confident in the water than I am, and I realised I've got to do something about that as it's not safe.'
ITV say after seven days the first episode has now been watched by 2.8m viewers and the series has been popular with 25-54 year olds.

Emmerdale's Adam Thomas in 'advanced talks' for I'm A Celebrity All Stars return

I'm A Celebrity spin-off All Stars is rumoured to be coming back and the latest speculation is that Emmerdale's Adam Thomas is in 'advanced talks' to appear on the ITV show A former soap star is reportedly in discussions to appear on the next series of I'm A Celebrity spin-off All Stars. Adam Thomas is said to be in "advanced talks" with ITV about signing up for it after reaching the final of the main series. ‌ Adam, 36, known for his roles on shows like Waterloo Road and Emmerdale, was a campmate in the jungle in Australia in 2016. He placed third in the final, behind runner-up Joel Dommett and winner Scarlett Moffatt, that year. ‌ Three years later, Adam co-hosted I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp. He fronted the companion show with Emily Atack for one series in 2019 and his former campmate Joel also featured. ‌ It's now rumoured that Adam could take part in spin-off All Stars, which was filmed in South Africa for its debut series in 2022. A second series is reportedly due to be filmed in the country this autumn ahead of airing next year. A source told the Sun: "This will be a glorious return for Adam as he established himself as a true fan favourite through his series in camp and then on the spin-off show." They added that he's remained on TV since then though. ‌ They said: "He's stayed in the limelight, too, with Waterloo Road and then on ITV alongside brother Ryan with challenge show 99 To Beat. It's the perfect time for him to head back into the jungle and affirm his position as Mr Bushtucker Trial." Alongside his career on TV, Adam has also made headlines in recent years after being diagnosed with arthritis. The actor has raised awareness of the condition, having spoken about his experience, including in posts on social media. Former Strictly Come Dancing star Adam initially shared that he had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. He's since said that he has psoriatic arthritis - described by the NHS as a long-term condition that causes joint pain, swelling and stiffness. The NHS states that there's currently no cure for arthritis, but that treatments that can help slow it down. ‌ In an update posted on Instagram just last week, Adam spoke about taking medication but expressed hope that "this disease can be cured naturally". He told his followers that he would like to not have to take medication one day. Alongside a photo of himself injecting his thigh with medication, he wrote: "I lost hope ... I never thought I'd get my old life back ... I was wrong. To anyone struggling with arthritis and is lost and can't seem to find hope ... stay strong! It's a long and painful road but I promise you ... you will!" ‌ He went on to say that his medication has "changed" his life and promoted biologic injections, which he's said to take once every two weeks. Adam said: "No side effects no brain fog no throwing up, nothing! Nothing but pain free!" Adam continued: "I know this isn't going to heal the disease but it's given me a life I never thought I'd have again! Still putting in the work and focusing on diet and recovery as I'd like to think this disease can be cured naturally and one day I'd like to not have to take any meds but until then …" He concluded by telling fans that he wanted to "bring hope" to others with arthritis and to raise awareness. He said: "I feel like it's not talked about enough." He urged in his post: "Don't lose hope don't lose yourself to this disease." ‌ I'm a Celebrity... South Africa, often referred to as All Stars, featured a host of former campmates when it launched in 2022. Myleene Klass won the debut series of the spin-off after having been runner-up on I'm A Celebrity back in 2006. Adam is the latest former campmate rumoured for a potential return. Earlier this week, it was reported that comedian Seann Walsh, 39, has been in talks to appear on the spin-off after placing fifth on I'm A Celebrity in 2022. Harry Redkna pp and Gemma Collins had already been named as potential campmates. Former football manager Harry won I'm A Celebrity in 2018, whilst reality TV star Gemma quit after a few days when she did the show in 2014.

Yasmin Pettet, Ty Isherwood, Toni Laites and Cach Mercer were forced to make a big decision as Billykiss and Angel were up for the chop. This was as Yasmin and Toni were voted the top favourite girls, and Cach and Ty the top boys by a public vote. However, it's an incredibly hard decision for everyone to make for various reasons on Love Island. In the end, Angel was saved and Billykiss left the villa in emotional scenes. Yas was given the role of announcing the decision as the rest of the villa waited in anticipation. She said: "We've had to take into consideration existing connections, so with that being said the islander we've decided to dump is Billykiss." As Cach tried to explain the situation and how he enjoyed exploring two connections at the same time, Billykiss admitted that she was 'fine' with the decision. She remarked: "I'm grateful for everything. Everything happened the way it was supposed to happen. And I'm grateful for you." She later described that Cach was her "best friend in here," just as she exited the compound.
