Texas A&M HC Mike Elko provides update on 5-star freshman wide receiver
Texas A&M's annual Maroon & White spring game offered the same amount of information for the average Aggie fan as any scrimmage in the past, which isn't much, but that's the point. Spring games give coaches a general review of what players have worked on this spring, especially at quarterback, wide receiver, and pass rush on defense.
On Saturday, all three focus areas showed improvement, especially on the defensive line, as freshman Edge Marco Jones recorded five sacks and six tackles for loss. At the same time, transfer additions Dayon Hayes, T.J. Searcy, and Tyler Odyedem looked the part, getting in the backfield multiple times throughout the day.
The revamped wide receiver room showed off its speed, route running, and acceleration, led by the newly acquired KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, who looked like starting quarterback Marcel Reed's go-to targets, which will likely be the case next season.
However, one name that wasn't available is five-star wide receiver Jerome Myles, who sat out this month as he recovers from his recent injury. Head coach Mike Elko provided an update regarding his health.
"Jerome Myles was here today. He has all the physical characteristics to be a great player… He is coming back from a knee injury."
"Without question, he will add a lot of value to our program."
Jerome Myles enters the program as one of the top athletes in the 2025 class. If he is healthy and ready to contribute next season, he won't see a lot of time on the bench. Besides his downfield speed and large catch radius, Myles provides size to a wide receiver room, which is needed to replace Noah Thomas.

Top 2027 Pennsylvania offensive tackle Terrance Smith lists Notre Dame in top group

The top Class of 2027 Pennsylvania offensive tackle from Lansdale Catholic (Lansdale, PA) announced his finalists on X (formerly Twitter), and the Fighting Irish remain in the mix. Marcus Freeman and his staff may have a tough time landing a pledge from the 6-foot-6, 260-pounder, though, as Penn State has made him a priority target in its 2027 class. Smith picked up an offer from the Nittany Lions in early April and traveled to State College for the annual Blue-White spring game later in the month. He then attended PSU's annual Lasch Bash recruiting barbecue at the end of June. Joining Notre Dame and Penn State in Smith's top 12 are Ohio State, Missouri, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Rutgers, Oregon, NC State and Syracuse. Notre Dame and UConn set to renew women's basketball rivalry in 2025-26
The Notre Dame women's basketball schedule just became a little juicier. Defending national champion UConn announced its non-conference schedule for its 2025-26 slate on Friday morning, and it includes the Fighting Irish. The Huskies conclude their non-conference schedule by hosting two of their most historic rivals: Notre Dame on January 19 at Gampel Pavilion and Tennessee on February 1 at PeoplesBank Arena. Per a UConn spokesperson, the Huskies and Notre Dame have extended their current series (which ended last season in South Bend) for another two years with the Huskies planning on playing at ND in 2026-27. UConn is 39-16 all-time against Notre Dame but lost to the Irish last year on the road. Certainly this is a marquee matchup for defending ACC player of the year Hannah Hidalgo and the Irish, as big games like this one are great for the sport.
