The New York Knicks will be heading into a completely new era of the franchise during the 2025-26 NBA season. Gone are the days of Tom Thibodeau leading the team. He was fired after the Knicks failed to defeat the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
To replace Thibodeau, New York went out and brought in Mike Brown. He will have a completely different philosophy than the one that the Knicks have seen in recent years.

While those two moves will help the second unit, New York still needs to bring in two more players.
Keeping that in mind, the Knicks have now been linked to two intriguing potential targets late in the free agency market. There are still some good players available for New York to take a look at.
During a segment of his "The Zach Lowe Show," Zach Lowe spoke out with two potential targets to watch for the team.
"They [Knicks] only have 12 players on the team right now... They literally, by law of the NBA, have to sign more players," Lowe said. "I would keep my eye out on [Landry] Shamet. I would keep my eye out on [Malcolm] Brogdon, who both could be helpful."
Brogdon would be the bigger addition of the two players. He played in 24 games and made 13 starts with the Washington Wizards last season, averaging 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds. If fully healthy, he can make a bigger impact than that.

Shamet, on the other hand, played the 2024-25 season with the Knicks. He appeared in 50 games, averaging 5.7 points and shooting 39.7 percent from the three-point line.
It will be interesting to see what New York chooses to do to round out its roster. Brogdon would be a very intriguing pickup who could make a major impact off of the bench. Shamet could add perimeter shooting.
Expect to hear more about the Knicks in the near future. With a need for at least two more players, both of these names are worth keeping an eye on.
