Gabbi Garcia says joining Miss Universe PH not the smartest thing to do right now for her

GMA Network23-05-2025
Gabbi Garcia has been open about entering the world of beauty pageants through Miss Universe Philippines, but she thinks that now is not the right time to do so.
In Friday's 'Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,' the Sparkle star said that her current career commitments present significant hurdles to going after this goal.
'I'm turning 27 this year so it would have been the perfect time to join, right? Pero nga kasi, I've been saying I've been open about this, there are a lot of factors to consider if I could join or not,' Gabbi said.
Foremost among these factors are her existing contracts and brand endorsements.
'You know, relationships with brands na baka hindi ma-i-push kung sumali ako because I would have to drop everything or pause everything. [In] short, I would be jobless for maybe a year or two if I continue to join. So I don't think it's the smartest thing to do right now,' she said.
The actress and host is aware that many people are urging her to compete, believing that the time is now.
'Kung ako lang talaga and wala akong iba i-sa-sacrifice, I would have joined. Maybe I could have tried and tried already until I reached the crown, right? But as of now, you know, there are different priorities that I have to weigh as well now that I'm in the industry for 11 years. So until now it's still an unanswered thing in my head,' she said.
While her immediate focus is on her current career path and commitments, Gabbi made it clear that she is not entirely closing the door on the possibility of competing in the future.
'May mga bagay na kahit na gustong-gusto natin para sa sarili natin, sinasabi na ni Lord at sinasabi ng destiny na hindi siya muna para sa 'yo. So, I'm not closing my doors, definitely. I'm still open. But as of now, I have different things to prioritize,' she said.
In 2020, Gabbi revealed that joining a beauty pageant was her childhood dream.
Four years later, there were rumors that she was joining Miss Universe Philippines 2024, but while she was flattered, she said that it was not true.
Gabbi renewed her contract with GMA Network on Friday.
She currently stars in GMA Network's first Viu Original series 'Slay' and hosts 'Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition.'

‘Beyond 75: The GMA Network 75th Anniversary Special' to air on July 12

GMA Network's diamond anniversary event, 'Beyond 75: The GMA Anniversary Special,' is set to make its television airing on July 12! According to Nelson Canlas' report on '24 Oras,' Friday, the event was filled with major milestone throwbacks and was graced by Kapuso personalities, including David Licauco. 'That moment na I stepped in GMA, dahil siyempre I was a, you know, like fresh graduate from college, and to be in that, you know, like building na malaki, and I knew na that was the real world. It was something for me,' David said. Derrick Monasterio said that his most important GMA milestone was meeting Elle Villanueva. 'Kasi 'yun 'yung pinaka-permanent na decision na gagawin mo, 'di ba? 'Yung pipiliin mo 'yung partner mo,' he said. 'Marami pa po akong gustong gawin. Marami pa akong gustong gawin at maraming-marami na ring ginawa ang GMA na tinupad 'yung mga pangarap ko,' Buboy Villar said. The event featured captivating performances, including electrifying production numbers from the Sang'gres of 'Encantadia Chronicles' and powerful collaborations featuring the network's brightest stars. 'Beyond 75: The GMA Anniversary Special' will air on GMA and GMA Pinoy TV on Saturday, July 12, at 7:15 p.m. Additionally, the special will be accessible via live streams on the GMA Network YouTube channel and other GMA online platforms. —Carby Rose Basina/CDC, GMA Integrated News

GMA Gala 2025 preparations now in full swing

As the countdown begins, the GMA Gala 2025 is already deep into preparations, promising an unforgettable event that will celebrate GMA Network's 75th anniversary. According to Nelson Canlas' report in '24 Oras' Friday, among the event's organizers are GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes and Sparkle GMA Artist Center First Vice President Joy Marcelo. 'Ako, I'm excited personally to see how our stars will level up what they're wearing, their styling. So I'm very excited to see that. And every Gala, I see them just mingling, enjoying each other's company, and sana ito talagang maging opportunity again for them to just be themselves and enjoy. Enjoy friendship, enjoy the feeling of family,' Gozon-Valdes said. The event will be styled by Gideon Hermosa. 'Since we are celebrating, I mean, GMA is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year, yes, diamond anniversary, so it's going to be bigger, and I would say more unique and siyempre mas bongga,' he said. Guests will be served a three-course meal made with imported ingredients. 'It's all about glamour, it's all about quality, it's all about GMA,' Marriott Hotel Manila Executive Chef Meik Brammer said. Stars are already finalizing their looks for the momentous occasion, each bringing a unique vision to their attire. 'Yes, may gown na po. May theme ulit siya. And 'yun lang po. May theme kasi every time I do a gala, may kwento 'yung ginagawa ko, may kwento 'yung gown,' Kylie Padilla said. 'Meron na akong vision na sana. Maganda kasi 'yung gusto kong gown,' Kazel Kinouchi said. Jak Roberto says he wants to go simple. 'Suit and tie lang naman eh. Ang mahalaga lang sa amin mag-sharpen 'yung dating namin, maging dapper talaga pag dating sa Gala,' he said. Michael Sager said that he is excited to reunite with his fellow "PBB" housemates at the event. 'We'll go classic again, but lagyan natin ng konting twist para special,' he said. 'Gusto ko, class. May iba din tayong atake 'ba gano'n. Pakitaan ko sila na puwede tayong mag-high fashion,' Shuvee Etrata said. The GMA Gala is returning for its fourth year, and it will be held on August 2. The event is a star-studded gathering of Kapuso stars and other showbiz personalities. They walk down the red carpet in fashionable outfits and enjoy an evening of camaraderie and celebration. Proceeds of the event go to a charitable cause. Last year, the funds were donated to the GMA Kapuso Foundation for the benefit of Typhoon Carina victims. —Carby Rose Basina/CDC, GMA Integrated News
