Joey Lawrence reveals how he won back wife Samantha Cope after her divorce filing and THOSE affair rumors

Daily Mail6 days ago
Joey Lawrence shed light into his reconciliation with his wife Samantha Cope, five months after she filed for divorce in 2024.
When asked about his decision to repair his marriage, the Melissa and Joey star, 49, urged others not to 'give up' without a fight.
'I think it's too easy,' he explained of why they got back together. 'As much you don't want to take an easy way out, or you think this will be the fix—it's not always the case. I just didn't want to do that. And she didn't either.'
Ultimately, he said they both came to the realization: 'Wait a minute. There's something so special here.'
'Things take a lot of work and a lot of dedication and reworking and retooling,' the father-of-three continued. 'That's life, though.'
Lawrence went on to stress: 'That's life, though. As brothers, with your parents, with friends, in business, that's it. Everything takes so much work. Whatever it is, just don't give up, because you never know.'
Last August, it was revealed that Cope had filed for divorce from Lawrence.
She requested that both she and her estranged husband not receive any spousal support.
She cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for the split, and also asked for full custody of their daughter.
Cope stated in documents obtained by Us Weekly that she will allow Dylan to stay with Joey two nights a week when she turns three.
But in regards to Joey having extended visits with their daughter, Samantha stated that she wants to wait until Dylan is 'older and can consent to such visits.'
Not long after she filed, Lawrence was accused of having an affair with his co-star and fellow actress, Melina Alves. The pair are set to appear in the upcoming film, Socked In For Christmas.
In documents obtained by TMZ, Melina's estranged husband, Edward Rider - who filed for divorce in July - claimed that he discovered Alves and Lawrence were having an affair earlier this year in March.
The affair allegedly took place in California as well as 'at various other times and places,' Rider claimed.
At the time, a source told People that Lawrence 'love-bombed' Alves - which was something that he also did with Cope.
'Joey met Melina Alves on the set of their movie, where she was a producer,' the insider explained. Melina is also the writer and took on the role of Addy in the upcoming holiday flick,' the insider claimed.
They also alleged he 'continued to date Melina even after Samantha found out about it and confronted him.'
The source also expressed that Cope had wanted to attend marriage counseling, but Joey 'fooled their counselor' and would still 'get ready for dates with Melina while Sam watched, bawling her eyes out.'
Cope and Lawrence first crossed paths in 2020 while on set of the Lifetime movie titled, My Husband's Secret Brother.
The former couple became engaged in 2021, and said 'I do' the following year in 2022 during a ceremony held at the Temecula Creek Inn in California.
At the time, Cope told People that her courtship with Lawrence was speedy: 'From day one, it was such a safe place to be myself. Two weeks in, I was like, "I will be with you forever."'
She added, 'When you meet the right person, if you're lucky enough, it cuts to the chase so quick. I have somebody who is like-minded and has the same love language, and we communicate the same way. That's super important. And I am so thankful.'
In January 2023, the couple welcomed their daughter, Dylan Rose, to the world.
The Blossom actor was also previously married to Michelle Vella from 2002 through 2005.
He later tied the knot with Chandie Yawn-Nelson in 2005 but the pair's divorce was finalized in 2022. They share daughters Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14.

Batman and Rambo star Alon Aboutboul dies aged 60 after collapsing on beach

Actor Alon Aboutboul has died at the age of 60 after collapsing on an a beach in Israel. The star had been swimming in waters off the HaBonim beach strip in northern Israel before returning to shore and collapsing in front of horrified tourists. It's understood that Aboutboul, whose film credits included Rambo III and Batman epic The Dark Knight Rises, initially complained of feeling unwell after returning to the beach. A popular tourist destination because of its proximity to the Mediterranean, the HaBonim beach strip is considered to be one of the most rugged coastal areas in Israel. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the actor at the scene after a call was placed at 8.22am, but they were unable to save his life. Aboutboul is survived by his partner Shir Bilya, an Israeli writer and director, and their four children. Born in 1964 to a Sephardic Jewish family in Kiryat Ata, Aboutboul began his acting career as a teenager after graduating from Thelma Yellin High School of Arts in 1983. His first Hollywood break came just five years later, with the actor taking a small role as Nissem in Peter MacDonald's 1988 blockbuster Rambo III, starring alongside Sylvester Stallone. Further screen roles included that of a soldier in Steven Spielberg's critically acclaimed drama Munich, a 2005 rendering of Mossad's response to the 1972 Olympics massacre. He also featured alongside Joshua Jackson in cult science fiction show Fringe, before landing a pivotal role in Christopher Nolan's final Batman offering. Starring alongside Christian Bale and Tom Hardy, Aboutboul played Dr Leonid Pavel - the Russian nuclear physicist kidnapped by Batman nemesis Bane in 2012 blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises. After hijacking the CIA plane upon which Pavel is travelling in the film's opening scene, Bane - memorably played by Hardy - is heard telling his terrified captive: 'Calm down, doctor. Now is not the time for fear. That comes later.' In 2016 he played Pakistani arms trafficker Aamir Barkawi in London Has Fallen, a Babak Najafi directed political action thriller starring Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman. Recent TV credits include dramas Homeland, Body of Lies, Legends, NCIS Los Angeles, and SVU. Until 2022 he worked alongside Damson Idris in Showtime crime-drama Snowfall, playing Avi Drexler - an Israeli drug-lord with links to Mossad. He left the show after featuring in 25 episodes, across five seasons. During a 42-year career - much of it spent working in Israeli film and television - Aboutboul also won numerous accolades, among them the Ophir Award and an Israeli Television Academy Award. Leading the tributes to Aboutboul on social media platform X, Israeli Culture and Sport Minister Miki Zohar said it was 'deeply painful' to hear of his passing. He wrote: 'Last night I watched an interview with him, where he talked about filming a movie he recently participated in, and the passion for the profession that radiated from him was evident even after so many years in the field. 'Alon was an Ophir Award and Television Academy Award winner and over the years portrayed a wide range of characters to which he brought depth and emotion, leaving a deep mark on Israeli culture. May his memory be blessed.'

Alice Evans is left shocked as she visits her 'abandoned' old neighbourhood and shares sad post asking 'What is happening to our world?'

Alice Evans shared her sadness after returning to her old neighbourhood on Monday to find many of the old shops all boarded up. The actress, 56, is currently in the midst of a bitter legal battle with her ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd regarding child support payments for their two daughters. But earlier this week the star took a trip down memory lane after visiting her old neighbourhood in Melrose/Fairfax in Los Angeles with her daughter Elsie. Yet Alice confessed she was left shocked after returning to find 'the whole place abandoned' as she explained many shops were shut. Sharing snaps of the surroundings she penned: 'Sad feelings. What is happening to our world? 'Elsie and I made a trip back to our old neighborhood of Melrose/Fairfax yesterday because I had a meeting nearby. And so many things were boarded up!! 'This is Fred Segal Melrose, which housed Cafe Mauro, which was a central meeting point for so many Angelenos over the past 30 years. 'It was a celebrity hotspot. Guaranteed if you've ever checked out the paparazzi pics in one of those magazines we all used to guiltily buy at the airport you've seen pics from outside Fred Segal. 'But it was also a beloved local joint. We lived one minute's walk from it for 17 years and I never saw the car park less than ramming. Here we are, Elsie and me and the whole place is abandoned. The car behind us is ours. It felt very sad.' She continued: 'We went on a little drive after that and place after place had closed down. I think you don't notice so much when you're living there, but coming back after 6 months or so is a shock.' The star then asked her followers: 'What do people think? Are commercial rents too high? Are we moving to a buy online/order in lifestyle? 'Tell me about things you've noticed on your neighborhoods. Our world is changing so fast!' Alice also thanked fans for her support after she confirmed she is doing a Meet and Greet in Covington, Georgia as she took to Instagram to share the exciting news on Tuesday. She added: 'As always, love you all and THANK YOU for the love after my last post. A xxxxx'. Fred Segal pictured before its closure in 2006 It comes after Alice hit back after her appearance at a recent court hearing was savaged by an anonymous online troll. Her latest court appearance in Los Angeles on July 24, which was also attended by Ioan and his pregnant new wife Bianca Wallace, subsequently prompted hateful comments about her physical appearance. In a private message sent by a nameless follower, Alice was also attacked for wearing the same outfit - a black blouse and matching skirt - on more than one occasion. Sharing a post with Instagram followers on Sunday evening, she wrote: 'Just received a random DM telling me I am grossly overweight and 'looked like a freaking walrus walking into court on Wednesday'. 'It went on to say that my choice of outfit was 'horrible' because I had worn it before in public settings many times, ( the horror of wearing clothes twice!) that it was 'cheap' and 'badly fitting' and that I had 'clearly made no effort to understand proper court attire. 'Strangely, this message came from an account with no profile, which is odd, given that I would have loved to have taken hints from the person's own personal style, which obviously must be dazzling - and who doesn't t want a few tips from a dazzling dresser?' The actress, who accompanied her post with a shot of herself outside court day earlier, admitted she was already wracked with insecurity about what to wear for the hearing after spending months attempting to lose weight. She wrote: 'I attach one of the pics of me walking into court on that day because I have actually worked hard on losing weight in the past year, and silly me, I thought I looked ok! 'Also, in the two hours before leaving, I changed outfits several times in an ever increasing panic, realizing that nothing I loved fit me, and the things that fit me made me want to cry! 'But this is not a sad post. It's a strong post. I was terrified walking into court this week. I have been terrified to turn up to all the hearings I have been summoned to in the past 3 years - so much so that the first one in aug '22 I could not even bring myself to turn up to, such was my panic. ( I literally hid u see the bed shaking. How pathetic is that!) [sic] 'But I'm still here. I have two incredible girls to bring up. I live for them. And if that means I look fat or old or unfashionable then so be it. I am being as strong as I have ever been in my life.'

Meghan Markle's ex-BFF Jessica Mulroney 'splits from her husband after 16 years of marriage'

has split from her husband after 16 years of marriage, it was reported last night. The Canadian stylist - who was once known to be a close friend of Meghan Markle - has parted ways with her husband Ben, according to sources in PageSix. The couple share three children and were said to have separated 'some time ago', according to the news outlet. On Instagram, Jessica, 45, has been pictured without her wedding ring in recent weeks and is said to have broken the news to friends while attending a wedding last month - notably without her husband, 49. A source told PageSix: 'They're split. Jessica seemed sad, but also relieved to have some clarity.' Another insider added that they split 'some time ago'. The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Jessica for comment. Jessica last posted her husband in March in a gushing birthday tribute, writing: 'Happy belated Birthday Benny! Hope all your wishes come true as well as Bruce Wayne's dream to try my cheesecake. Xx.' As for Ben, he still describes himself as a 'husband' in his profile on Instagram, which reads: 'Husband, father, eater of cereal.' In addition, on Jessica's Facebook profile, it still reads as 'married to Ben Mulroney'. Ben is the eldest son of Brian Mulroney, the former Prime Minister of Canada. In November last year, in one of their final posts together, Jessica admitted they had 'forgotten' their anniversary. Posting a slew of loved-up snaps, she wrote: 'Ok so our wedding anniversary was a slight oversight this year ( ie… we forgot). But the love all year round makes up for it. Which reminds me, how many years has it been? I feel lucky everyday so what's a number?' But it appears she won't have one of the closest members of her inner circle as a shoulder to cry on, as her friendship with the Duchess of Sussex appears to have cooled off in recent years. Meghan - who herself has been curating a social media presence since January, with a whopping 3.9 million followers on Instagram, a Netflix lifestyle series and a new Montecito-aesthetics-inspired brand - hasn't been seen in public with Jessica in five years. The stylist hasn't featured in any of her TV shows or podcasts and they do not follow each other on social media. It's a far cry from the heyday of their friendship - as Jessica was once on FaceTime to her best friend as Prince Harry popped the question and stole the show on the big day as she posed on the steps of St George's Chapel alongside Kate Middleton. The rift in the friendship can be traced back to 2020 when Jessica was involved in a 'white privilege' row with influencer Sasha Exeter. She was swiftly dropped from her styling slot on Good Morning America - and apparently by Meghan too in the wake of the controversy. Despite their close relationship, insiders claimed that the Duchess had permanently cut ties with Jessica in 2020, after she became embroiled in a 'feud' with influencer Sasha Exeter. The clash, which occurred in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement and the death of George Floyd, saw Jessica 'take offence' to a 'generic call to action' post Sasha had shared about the movement. According to Sasha, she and Jessica then argued about the importance of 'speaking up'. Sasha said she felt Jessica 'threatened' her during the argument, claiming the mother-of-three had written to her: 'I have also spoken to companies and people about the way you have treated me unfairly. You think your voice matters. Well it only matters if you express it with kindness and without shaming people who are simply trying to learn. Good luck.' In a follow-up video, Sasha, also from Toronto, said: 'What happened next was a series of very problematic behaviour and antics. 'I'm by no means calling Jess a racist but what I will say is this: She is very well aware of her wealth, perceived power and privilege because of the colour of her skin and that, my friends, gave her the momentary confidence to come for my livelihood in writing. Textbook white privilege really, in my personal opinion.' In a comment posted on the video clip, Jessica said she was 'unequivocally sorry', writing: 'As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre. It was deeply educational.' Shortly after posting the clip about Jessica, Sasha claimed she had been targeted by trolls who were sending her death threats. Sharing an video to her Instagram stories in her dressing gown, Sasha said: 'I've been up since 4am responding to trolls. 'I was totally prepared to be bullied and I knew I was opening myself up to being criticized by people who don't really understand why I did what I did, but let me make clear that any threats to my personal safety will not be tolerated.' Jessica issued further public apologies but was dropped by a number of television networks, including Good Morning America. Following the backlash, sources claimed that Meghan had permanently cut ties with her former BFF. It may have been the final straw for the Duchess, as an insider told Page Six that the duo's relationship was already on the rocks because Meghan felt Jessica was trying to 'make a career out of the friendship'. 'The white privilege row has really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good,' the source said. 'I don't know what the tipping point was, but Jess has been on the outs for some time.' Canadian TV network CTV also cut off ties with the stylist, revealing that it would be pulling all episodes of her wedding-themed reality TV show I Do Redo from its platform. Jessica also also stepped down from the board of directors of The Shoebox Project, the charity she co-founded a decade ago to 'provide gifts to women living in shelters or accessing community support,' according to public records. 'In light of recent events, the charity supports Jessica's decision to step away from the Board of Directors,' read a statement from the organization at the time. Jessica took a two-month break from social media - but six months after the scandal, she shared what were understood to be DMs and text messages between herself and Sasha that the National Post's columnist Barbara Kay called 'a complete exoneration of Jessica from all the false allegations of racist bullying.' Kay concluded that Jessica 'is innocent of the moral crimes she has been so unjustly charged with'. In September 2020, Jessica addressed the rumours of rift between her and the Duchess. She wrote on her Instagram Stories: 'I'm going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. 'She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday.' Six months later, Jessica shared a photo of the flowers she received from Meghan on her 41st birthday, on which she wrote: 'LUCKIEST FRIEND XXXX, THX MM.' The following year however, it became increasingly evident that their friendship had soured. In June 2021, the mother-of-three posted a cryptic quote on her Instagram Story, which read: 'Life changes. You lose love. You lose friends. You lose pieces of yourself that you never imagined would be gone. Two months later, she told her followers: 'It can be lonely having the world, friends distance from you and not even ask how you are. But, thankfully, you find the things that truly matter…' The following year, Jessica posted a picture of a sign reading: 'You are not too sensitive. You are not overreacting. If it hurts you it hurts you.' She captioned the post: 'I wish I had a seen this a long time ago. I hope it makes a difference in your day too.' Since, Meghan seems to have kept a distance from her former pal - with no mention of her in Harry's book Spare or the couple's 2022 Netflix documentary. Jessica was also not invited to take part in the Duchess's most recent project - With Love, Meghan. Before she married Prince Harry, Meghan would often gush about Jessica online - with the pair often going on holidays together. In December 2015, the Duchess said that 'the room stops' whenever her friend 'shows up at an event'. Referencing the 1980s US sitcom Out of This World, Meghan compared Jessica to the show's heroine Evie (played by Maureen Flannigan) - who has the ability to freeze time. Gushing about the effect Jessica has on people, Meghan described her as 'savvy and fashionable and tres cool, and also va va va voom pritaaaay'. She continued: 'And here's the other thing - she also happens to be an incredible stylist, clothing the likes of Canada's First Lady, Sophie Trudeau.' In her 2022 Netflix documentary, Meghan shared footage of the night Prince Harry proposed in 2017 - where she FaceTimed her friend 'Jess' as she walked the grounds of Kensington Palace. The following year, Meghan then asked Jessica's three children John, Brian and Isabel to be in her wedding party - while the stylist was given a starring role as she entered St George's Chapel alongside the Princess of Wales.
