INDIANAPOLIS – The stars came out for the 2025 Rivals Five-Star event at the Indianapolis Colts' facility this week. Here we break down the top running backs from the event.

Cooper came away with positional MVP honors in Indianapolis. The five-star shined in the 1-on-1 portion of Tuesday's camp, then took it to a different level as the most productive pass-catcher out of the backfield in 7-on-7 play.
Miami is working toward inking the No. 1 class in the country and intends to keep Cooper in South Florida. Georgia and Ohio State are working feverishly to buck the Canes' momentum on the recruiting trail.
Osborne will be playing a lot of football inside the state of Indiana over the next few years. The Texas-based blue-chipper pledged to Notre Dame last month and showcased his three-down skill-set this week at the Rivals Five-Star.
Osborne was fantastic as a pass-catcher, an area of his game less utilized on Friday nights. The Irish verbal is a three-down back that can bash between the tackles and be a workhorse on early downs and also contribute in the passing game.

Cowley stood out as one of the backs with the best top-end speed in Indianapolis. The 2027 four-star out of Alabama was smooth in and out of breaks, had soft hands and fantastic wiggle and acceleration with the ball in his hands between various positional drills, 1-on-1 competition and in the 7-on-7 setting.
Auburn is trending up with the in-state blue-chipper, who returned to The Plains earlier this month. Hugh Freeze has been superb keeping top-end talent such as Cowley in-state since arriving at Auburn and has a strong chance to repeat in this one, too.
Robinson is another blue-chip running back in the 2027 class. The bruiser from Mississippi is a force in the running game – able to eat up chunk yardage and run downhill at a high clip. During the week in Indy, Robinson also showcased another aspect of his game – his pass-catching skills and ability to separate in coverage.
We love the three-down skill-set for Robinson and so does Tennessee. The Vols are setting the pace in the 2027 four-star back's recruitment ahead of Oklahoma State and Mississippi State.

British and Irish Lions dominate Force in the opening game of their Australian tour
PERTH, Australia — Dan Sheehan made the perfect start on debut for the British and Irish Lions. The Ireland hooker led the Lions for the first game of their Australian tour, scored in the second minute and steered the team to a commanding 54-7 win over the Perth-based Western Force in front of a crowd of 46,656 on Saturday. 'It's all sinking in now. All week I've been focused on the game and making sure I don't lose the plot in my head,' said Sheehan, who was captain while Maro Itoje was rested. 'I've grown up wanting to play in this jersey, never mind captaining. There's a lot of lads who've worn the jersey for the first time — we need to enjoy this.' After an arm-wrestle of a first half where the Lions led 21-7 despite having only 40% of possession and spending most of the time in their own half, the bigger, more polished British and Irish lineup opened up and put five unanswered tries on a tiring defense in the second. Scrumhalf Tomos Williams scored a pair of tries before limping off with a left hamstring problem, fullback Elliot Daly scored two tries and No. 10 Finn Russell created two tries with his spur-of-the-moment judgement. He also kicked five goals. Henry Pollock, the 20-year-old England No. 8, played an integral hand in two tries and also spent 10 minutes in the sin-bin in his eventful starting debut for the Lions. 'We have a few things to fix, mainly our discipline,' Lions head coach Andy Farrell said. 'Once we gained a little bit of composure, I thought the second half was a little bit better. 'I was happy how we stayed in the fight,' he added, 'it was a tough old start to the game.' Early exchanges The Lions made changes after a 28-24 loss to Argentina in a warmup last week in Dublin, putting more emphasis on short, sharp passing. The Lions had the ball for 11 phases until Russell kicked wide to the right touchline where Sheehan took the ball high and tapped infield for winger James Lowe, who flicked an inside pass back to him to score. The Force equalized quickly with veteran Wallabies scrumhalf Nic White sniping over from the base of a ruck in the fifth. The Force opted against taking penalty goals in order to keep up attacking intensity but the Lions held firm and relieved pressure with some crucial turnovers. Flyhalf Russell set up the first try with his pinpoint kick wide and the third with a quick penalty tap and go in the 35th, scooting up to the five-yard line before popping up a ball off the ground for fullback Daly to score. In between, Pollock was instrumental in the Lions' second try, bursting onto a sharp inside ball from openside flanker Josh van der Flier, stepping inside and out and going to ground before popping a ball up to scrumhalf Williams to score. The tourists went into halftime with a man down after Pollock was yellow carded for a ruck infringement deep inside his own quarter. The Force crossed the line from the resulting penalty but were held up. A key moment Williams finished off an 80-meter counter-attacking try seven minutes into the second half. He limped off after scoring, and was replaced by Alex Mitchell. Garry Ringrose scored soon after and Pollock, the youngest member of the Lions squad, was back in the attack quickly, chipping over the defense, regathering and almost scoring himself before the Lions shifted it quickly for lock and player-of-the-match Joe McCarthy to cross out wide in the 55th. Daly scored in the 71st and Mitchell extended the final margin to 47 points when he scored after the siren, taking the last pass from Australian-born Ireland winger Mack Hansen. 'The score didn't reflect that game at all,' Force scrumhalf White said. 'Certainly, that first 50 minutes, we go stuck right into them. One turnover — they go the length and the game kind of blew out from there.' The Lions are playing nine games in their first tour to Australia since 2013, including tests in Brisbane on July 19, in Melbourne on July 26 and in Sydney on Aug. 2. Their next match is against Queensland next Wednesday in Brisbane.

Kyrie Irving has reportedly declined his contract option but plans to sign a new three-year, $119 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. The decision makes sense for Irving, who will miss the first portion of the 2025-26 season while recovering from ACL surgery. This new contract provides the Mavs star with security. However, the 2027-28 player option gives him flexibility as well. The decision is also crucial for the team. It goes without saying, but keeping Irving on the roster is the most important element of the situation. According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, though, it provides Dallas with another pivotal factor to consider. 'The new Kyrie Irving contract will likely will give Dallas the flexibility to use their $5.7M tax midlevel exception. If Irving opted-in, Dallas was a second apron team and the exception would not be available unless a trade,' Marks wrote on X. Advertisement The Mavericks are currently preparing for the 2025 NBA Draft, where they are expected to select Cooper Flagg. Irving and Flagg both attended Duke, so there may already be a connection between the two. Learning from a veteran star such as Irving will give Flagg a tremendous advantage at the NBA level. This is a Mavs team that wants to win a championship sooner rather than later. That motivation was clearly evidenced by their decision to trade a franchise superstar in Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package led by 31-year-old Anthony Davis. Dallas' core of stars isn't getting any younger, so getting the job done within the next couple of years is the goal. Cooper Flagg represents the future, but Irving — once he returns from injury — and Davis will attempt to lead the Mavs to the NBA Finals as soon as possible. 'Lord, have mercy, she's a problem,' Williams began with a smile. She then bantered with Collier a bit as she recalled a conversation they had on the bench. 'I said, 'You that one.' She sat down and I said, 'I can't believe you really that one,'' she said and chuckled along with the rest of the room. 'I mean, sometimes, just seeing what she do out there, bruh, it's like damn, I'm a part of this! I'm really seeing this girl go crazy, and I'm a teammate,' Williams continued. 'I'ma keep campaigning for her, man, numbers don't lie. Obviously, our team's not as good … if she don't show up the way she shows up every game, every practice, every day. 'Come on, man, everybody's gotta see it. It ain't rocket science.' Collier definitely has the stats to back up Williams' opinion. The former UConn standout threw down 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, and two blocks on the Sparks while going 13-for-16 from the field. Those insane numbers rightfully made her the first player in the W to put up at least a 30/5/5/2/2 game on 80% shooting. Collier's impressive showing also happened to link her with this season's other WNBA MVP favorite, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. Both Clark and Collier coincidentally topped the 25-point mark in one half on the same day, 25 and 26 tallies, respectively. Advertisement The two marked their names in the history books as only the second pair to accomplish the feat in league history. The first, the Dallas Wings' Arike Ogunbowale and the then-Seattle Storm's Jewell Loyd, did it two years earlier, almost to the exact day, on June 17, 2023.
