Redmi Pad 2 goes official with 90Hz screen and 9,000mAh battery

GSM Arena05-06-2025
Xiaomi's Redmi Pad 2 is the latest addition to the brand's growing tablet lineup. As the name suggests, this is the successor to the entry-level Redmi Pad from 2022. The upgrades between the two are subtle, with the new model getting a higher resolution (2560 x 1600px) IPS LCD, which now comes in at an 11-inch size and a faster 90Hz refresh rate. It's also brighter, cranking out 600 nits max brightness.
The other major change is the chipset. While the Pad 2 boasts the newer Helio G100 Ultra – it's basically a repurposed Helio G99, which was used in the previous gen model. This means we should expect similar performance.
Redmi Pad 2 is available in Wi-Fi only and cellular trims, with both featuring 4/8GB RAM and 128/256GB onboard storage. You also get a microSD card slot, which can take up to 2TB memory cards. In terms of cameras, you get a 5MP front-facing shooter and an 8MP rear module.
The software side is handled by HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, while the battery now comes in at 9,000mAh (1,000 mAh more than the Redmi Pad) and supports 18W charging over USB-C.
Redmi Pad 2 comes in Graphite Gray, Mint Green, and Lavender Purple colors. The Wi-Fi only trim starts at £169 for the 4/128GB version and goes up to £219 for the 8/256GB. The version with 4G connectivity starts at £219 for the 4/128GB trim and goes up to £259 for the 8/256GB configuration.

UK might back down from its fight with Apple over iCloud encryption

Anonymous British official, Financial Times, 21 July, 2025 Receive the latest iOS news By subscribing you agree to our terms and conditions and privacy policy Do you use end-to-end encryption for your cloud storage? Yes, all my files are encrypted I don't know No, I don't use encryption Yes, all my files are encrypted 0% I don't know 0% No, I don't use encryption 0% The government of the United Kingdom might be looking for a way out of its battle with Apple to get backdoor access to encrypted iCloud user data. The change of direction might be the result of continuing pressure from the US during the trade talks between the two British officials told the Financial Times that the UK is likely to back off from its demands to avoid a further clash with the Trump administration. The order was a point of contention between the two countries, and one official says that Vice President JD Vance was strongly opposed to the UK's this year, the UK issued a secret order asking Apple to provide it with a backdoor, which would've given it access to the encrypted data and files of users worldwide. The demand was issued under the 2016 Investigatory Powers Act, which is also known as the Snoopers' Charter. Part of the order was that Apple couldn't notify users if their data security was weakened and couldn't publicly talk about Apple disabled the Advanced Data Protection option for users in the UK, effectively removing end-to-end encryption for British users. The company refused to provide the requested backdoor access, challenged the order in a secret hearing , and later won the right to publicly discuss the various reports claimed that the demand sparked bipartisan outrage in the US. The topic was also reportedly brought up during talks between the UK and the Advanced Data Protection feature isn't turned on by default, but it provides extra protection on iCloud-stored data. The feature activates end-to-end encryption, which means that even Apple couldn't access the files.I was never surprised by the UK government's push against Apple, but I am grateful that there is backlash against it, and I hope this issue could unite people across the political spectrum. The UK is certainly not the only country that would like to get rid of end-to-end encryption under the usual pretext of national security, so we'll need to continue pushing against such moves.

Apple iPad 11-inch A16 (2025) review

It's the most popular tablet in the whole world. It's the OG tablet reimagined. It's the 11th Gen iPad. We were unsure of the best way to refer to this model, as it goes by several names - the iPad 11-inch, the iPad (A16), or the iPad (2025) - so we ultimately opted to use all of these terms collectively and interchangeably. But regardless of the name you use, the new Apple iPad (2025) looks just like the previous one, only faster and with more storage. And that about sums this review. Thank you for your attention. Feel free to skip to other areas of our website. Okay, we're joking (clearly!), but this old joke still hasn't lost its appeal. The mainstream iPad models have never been about cutting-edge hardware, but about offering a nice overall experience at a lower price point (which is not that low in universal terms). But since we are dealing with an Apple device here, we'd say the new iPad is getting the best from Apple's iPad OS capabilities at a very reasonable price. There is support for Apple Pencil, Magic Keyboard, Center Stage calling, and just enough oomph for a good gaming experience on the go. The only differences between the new iPad and the previous 2022 iPad model are the chip and the memory – it's now the Apple A16 Bionic with 6GB RAM, up from the A14 Bionic with 4GB RAM. The base storage has now been doubled to 128 GB. Okay, technically, the screen has grown from 10.9 to 11 inches (hence one of the monikers) - it's still an IPS LCD screen with 1640 x 2360 pixels and 60Hz refresh rate. The rest of the hardware package hasn't budged this year – a 12MP rear camera, 12MP front camera, a large battery (about 29Wh) with charging that's supposed to be fast on paper. The slate ships with iPadOS 18 with multi-tasking and pencil support. Misc: Fingerprint reader (top-mounted); stereo speakers, DisplayPort output over USB‑C. And since we're living in Apple Intelligence times, we'll point out it's odd to see a brand new device release without any support for their AI system. Oh well, it is what it is. That has to be the only notable omission from the iPad's specs sheet. We don't suggest this tablet is perfect, but everything else is par for the course, so to speak. We admit we may be a bit late with this review, but better late than never, as they say. Unboxing the iPad Air 11 (2025) The iPad ships inside a thin white box that contains the tablet itself and a braided USB cable. That's it. There is no charger inside, at least not in Europe. Page 2

Redmi Note 15 Pro+ details leak

Redmi launched the Note 14 Pro+ back in September in China, and so obviously the brand is hard at work on its successor. Today, the first few details about the upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro+ have been leaked, so let's take a look. The phone is said to sport a screen with "1.5K" resolution and thin symmetrical bezels on all sides, a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP telephoto camera, and a battery capacity between 7,000 mAh and 7,999 mAh. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will allegedly be powered by the yet-unannounced Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, which makes perfect sense considering the fact that the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is using its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. So, compared to last year's handset, the new one will get the same screen resolution, and the same resolution for both the main and telephoto cameras, but a newer SoC and a much bigger battery. Whether these upgrades will be enough remains to be seen. Do note that the model we're comparing to here is the Chinese (and Indian) Redmi Note 14 Pro+, not the international one - Redmi sometimes likes to launch different devices under the same name in different markets, though in this case the differences aren't very many.
