Kuwait Flour Mills to add new food and beverage options across sales outlets
During the committee's meeting yesterday, the recommendation was made to authorize the company to operate additional food and beverage-related activities within its designated bakery sites.
According to the committee's technical opinion, the following were approved under the company's request:
Retail sale of all food products produced by the companyn
Serving of both cold and hot beveragesn
Sale of pies, pastries, and sweetsn
Operation of oven-based bakeriesn
Operation of tandoor-style bakeriesn
In addition, the company has been granted permission to utilize designated locations for the manufacturing and storage of industrial products related to its operations. However, this is contingent upon obtaining the necessary approvals from the Ministry of Finance, the Public Authority for Industry, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
The committee outlined several general conditions that the company must meet:
Submission of detailed layout plans for activities, to be approved by the Urban Planning Departmentn
Authorization for technical staff to adjust activity names in accordance with the Ministry of Commerce codes and the nomenclature of the Public Authority for Industryn
Compliance with all contractual obligations established with the Ministry of Finance and the State Property Departmentn
Cancellation of any previous decisions that may contradict the newly approved activitiesn
Engineer Munira Al-Amir also confirmed that the committee approved a proposal by member Engineer Alia Al-Farsi to conduct an awareness campaign on Kuwait's Fourth Master Plan. The campaign will be carried out in coordination with relevant departments within the municipality to educate the public and stakeholders about the plan's objectives and implementation phases.

KUWAIT CITY, July 26: Municipal Council member Alia Al-Farsi has submitted a question to the executive body of Kuwait Municipality regarding tyre landfills and dumping sites, pointing out that Kuwait has scarce and undiversified natural resources, while it has large quantities of waste that can be utilised in the economic sector. Al-Farsi said the Environmental Affairs Committee in the council discussed this issue in its first workshop -- held on June 26, 2024 -- under the title, 'Tyre Landfills and Dumping Sites and their Impact on Public Health and Environmental Safety - Current Situation and Sustainable Solutions,' which resulted in the issuance of a set of urgent and long-term recommendations. She included in her question the most important recommendations presented at the workshop -- the need for coordination between the Municipality, Environment Public Authority (EPA) and Public Authority for Industry (PAI) to gradually eliminate tyre accumulation, particularly at the Kilometer 65 site in Salmi, with the participation of factories licensed by PAI and Kuwaiti entrepreneurs approved by the Municipality. She said this should be part of a comprehensive plan that includes studying the specifications of the accumulated tyres (both new and old) and the mechanism for distributing them to treatment facilities, under the supervision of the Municipality and according to a clear timetable. She added that the plan must also include meeting the requirements of the Kuwait Fire Force (KFF) at tyre collection sites, such as establishing temporary water basins, developing a comprehensive plan to manage tyre disposal in line with sustainable development goals, and rehabilitating waste transporters in light of the new regulations for municipal waste management and public hygiene. Private sector in Kuwait shows upturn
KUWAIT CITY, July 21: Official statistics from the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) revealed that the number of private companies reached 175,673 in the first half of 2025 -- 57,408 of which operate as sole proprietorships and 82,948 operate as headquarters. The newspaper obtained a copy of the statistics, stating that the number of company branches reached 35,360 while the number of service providers in the private sector totaled 371. The statistics also confirmed that 25,840 companies are under investigation, 6,613 have expired licenses; one company was closed and three are unlicensed. The total number of companies -- including those operating, under study, closed, and unlicensed -- reached 208,220. A source from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) confirmed that the increase in the number of private companies in recent years is the fruit of governmental efforts to support the private sector. The source stressed that the ministry is intensifying efforts, in coordination with other ministries, to diversify sources of income by allowing the private sector to contribute to the realization of development objectives. The source indicated that the ministry provides numerous services to the private sector; such as supporting the salaries of national workers, removing companies that demonstrate good faith from the blacklist, and continuing to amend laws to better serve the private companies, encourage investment and attract foreign capital. The source added that one of the most important policies of the ministry at present is opening doors for the private sector to be a partner in economic development, in line with Kuwait Vision 2035 and as per the directive of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Al-Sabah to push the private sector forward.
