MSRDC to complete land acquisition for key infra projects by year-end
Pune: The state govt will disburse Rs17,000 crore to acquire land linked to major infrastructure projects being implemented by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC)
On Thursday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis held a high-level meeting with senior bureaucrats and MSRDC officials.
He directed them to expedite land acquisition across multiple big-ticket projects and ensure no delays occur because of administrative bottlenecks.
Nine critical MSRDC-led projects — including expressways and multimodal corridors — were reviewed.
The govt aims to complete all land acquisition for listed projects by the end of the year, paving the way for timely execution and seamless infrastructure development across the state.
Vice-chairman and managing director of MSRDC Anilkumar Gaikwad told TOI that land acquisition for the Pune Ring Road and the Jalna–Nanded expressway is nearing completion. "For the remaining projects — such as the multimodal Virar–Alibaug expressway, the Shaktipeeth expressway, three major roads in Vidarbha and the Navgaon–Morgaon and Vadhwan–Samruddhi connectors — land measurement is underway. All this is part of the acquisition process," he said.

Gaikwad said the state govt has approved Rs36,000 crore to acquire land and the additional Rs17,000 crore will be cleared in phases as the process progresses. "The CM has made it clear that acquisition delays will escalate project costs and should be avoided," he said.
Of the Rs36,000 crore approved — Rs 9,000 crore is allocated to the Pune Ring Road, Rs2,140 crore to Jalna–Nanded expressway and Rs22,000 crore to the Virar–Alibaug multimodal corridor.
The CM also stressed the importance of determining the implementation model — whether via Public-Private Partnership or Build-Operate-Transfer — once land acquisition is complete.
Land measurement for Shaktipeeth expressway is complete in 86 of the 300 villages involved, with joint measurement expected to finish by Aug. The expressway, dubbed the Golden Triangle, will connect key religious and economic zones across Nagpur, Mumbai and Goa.
"It will enhance north-to-east connectivity and function as a pilgrim circuit," said a senior MSRDC official.
Fadnavis directed that the Shaktipeeth expressway plan be finalised with minimal impact on forest land. He instructed the finance department to release Rs12,000 crore for land acquisition and ordered the forest department to begin the process of obtaining necessary clearances — particularly for the ecologically sensitive Morbe to Karanja section of the Virar–Alibaug corridor — without delaying parallel administrative work.
The CM said the Vadhwan–Igatpuri expressway plan should be finalised.
In Vidarbha, plans for the Bhandara–Gadchiroli, Nagpur–Chandrapur and Nagpur–Gondiya expressways are to be finalised on priority. Other key infrastructure projects discussed included the Navegaon (Mor)–Surjagad mineral corridor, as well as the Wardha–Nanded and Vadsa–Gadchiroli railway projects. The meeting also reviewed land acquisition for proposed airports at Kolhapur, Karad, Akola, Gadchiroli and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Fadnavis said, "Agencies must work on mission mode. Land acquisition should begin immediately and officials must follow the defined timelines strictly."

Indices trade sideways in early trade; breadth strong
The headline equity benchmarks traded sideways in early trade, weighed by a mix of global and domestic factors. The recent Israel-Iran truce helped ease geopolitical tensions, while growing optimism over a potential US-India trade deal lifted sentiment. Inflows from foreign institutional investors further supported the bullish mood. Even concerns around the July 9 U.S. tariff deadline took a backseat, as reports of a likely extension helped calm investor nerves. The Nifty traded above the 25,600 level. PSU bank, oil & gas and healthcare shares advanced while auto, private bank and financial services shares declined. At 09:28 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, shed 25.74 points or 0.03% to 84,042.11. The Nifty 50 index added 7.05 points or 0.03% to 25,644.85. In the broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.38% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index jumped 0.73%. The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,214 shares rose and 806 shares fell. A total of 163 shares were unchanged. The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of the market's expectation of volatility over the near term, rallied 3.43% to 12.81. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth 1,397.02 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers to the tune of Rs 588.93 crore in the Indian equity market on 27 June 2025, provisional data showed. Economy: Indias forex reserves dropped by USD 1.01 billion to USD 697.93 billion for the week ended June 20, the Reserve Bank of India said on Friday. For the week ended June 20, foreign currency assets, a major component of the reserves, dropped by USD 357 million to USD 589.06 billion, the data released on Friday showed. The gold reserves were down by USD 573 million to USD 85.74 billion during the week, the RBI said. The Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) declined by USD 85 million to USD 18.672 billion, the apex bank said. Indias reserve position with the IMF also declined by USD 1 million to USD 4.45 billion in the reporting week, the apex bank data showed. Stocks in Spotlight: Karnataka Bank dropped 4.19% to Rs 199 after the companys managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO), Srikrishnan Hari Hara Sarma has resigned with effect from 15 July 2025. The board has also appointed Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat as the chief operating officer (COO) with effect from 2 July 2025. The partially convertible rupee was hovering at 85.4700 compared with its close of 85.5050 during the previous trading session. MCX Gold futures for 5 August 2025 settlement rose 0.01% to Rs 95,480. The US Dollar Index (DXY), which tracks the greenback's value against a basket of currencies, was down 0.18% to 96.85. The United States 10-year bond yield added 0.68% to 4.287. In the commodities market, Brent crude for August 2025 settlement lost 18 cents or 0.27% to $66.62 a barrel. Global Markets: US Dow Jones futures surged over 247 points, signaling a strong start for Wall Street after last week's upbeat finish. Asian shares traded higher, riding a wave of optimism despite mixed economic signals. Investors were closely watching fresh data from across the region, including industrial output numbers from South Korea and Japan, and China's latest PMI readings. In China, manufacturing activity contracted for the third straight month in June. The official manufacturing PMI inched up to 49.7 from May's 49.5, still below the 50-mark that separates growth from contraction. Meanwhile, the non-manufacturing PMI, which captures activity in services and construction, ticked up to 50.5 from 50.3. With the economy continuing to lose steam, hopes are building for fresh stimulus measures from Beijing. Back in the US, Friday was a blockbuster session for equities. The S&P 500 closed at its highest level in over four months, gaining about 0.5%. The Nasdaq Composite also reached an all-time high, closing at a record after adding about 0.5%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose nearly 1%. All three indices have made a solid comeback this month after Aprils slump, which was triggered by escalating trade tensions. Adding a political twist to the mix, the US Senate on Saturday narrowly voted 51-49 to begin debate on President Trumps sweeping "One Big Beautiful Bill." This legislation rolls together tax cuts, spending shifts, and border security measures. While the bill still faces a turbulent legislative journey, the vote kicks off up to 20 hours of debate. However, the Congressional Budget Office estimates it could swell the federal deficit by a staggering $3.3 trillion over the next ten years.

IITEX 2025 concludes in Hyd; Minister Sridhar Babu calls for expansion to tier-2 and tier-3 cities
Hyderabad, June 30 (UNI) The second edition of the Industrial Innovation & Technology Expo (IITEX 2025), organised by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), concluded on a high note at the Hitex Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad yesterday. The three-day event attracted over 10,000 visitors and featured more than 110 exhibitors representing key sectors such as mobility, renewable energy, packaging, food processing, industrial automation, and smart technologies. Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, who attended the valedictory session as the Chief Guest, said Telangana's industrial success was no accident but the outcome of visionary policies and inclusive governance. He praised the innovations on display—from 3D printing to industrial robotics—stating that they made it clear that "the future is already here." He urged FTCCI to transform IITEX into an annual flagship event and take it beyond Hyderabad to tier-2 and tier-3 cities to ensure broader access to industrial innovation and technology. The Minister noted that Telangana's Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for the first quarter of FY25 recorded a Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) of 2.90 percent, which is nearly six times the national average of 0.52 percent. He attributed this exceptional performance to the state's robust, inclusive, and forward-looking policies. Emphasising the importance of the MSME sector, he said it had been neglected over the past decade. In response, the Telangana government had introduced a progressive and future-ready MSME policy designed to promote revival, resilience, and innovation. Sridhar Babu also shared that Telangana attracted Rs 3.25 lakh crore in new investments between 2021 and 2024, and completed industrial proposals worth nearly Rs 75,000 crore, as reported by the MSME Export Promotion Council. He highlighted the growth of the life sciences sector, which saw Rs 40,000 crore in investments and the launch of 150 new projects, generating 51,000 direct and 1.5 lakh indirect jobs. He further mentioned that aerospace and defence had emerged as another major focus area. He reiterated the government's commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by establishing dedicated MSME parks aimed at making them crorepati. FTCCI President Dr Suresh Kumar Singhal said the expo aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and empowered MSMEs by providing access to cutting-edge technologies. He expressed pride that the event commenced on World MSME Day, honouring the vital role played by MSMEs in India's economic development. The expo also featured special pavilions by T-Hub, T-Works, NASSCOM, CDSC, and others, with support from the Ministry of MSME (Government of India under the PMS Scheme), the Government of Telangana, NITI Aayog's Invest India, NSIC, TGREDCO, RICH, and AIC. Dedicated startup zones curated by T-Hub and NASSCOM showcased more than 40 emerging ventures. Expo convenor Vimlesh Gupta said IITEX 2025 served as a platform for transformation, connecting traditional industries with disruptive innovations from startups. While IITEX is currently a biennial event, FTCCI announced its intention to make it an annual flagship industrial expo, further strengthening Telangana's position as a hub for industrial innovation.
