Kia India has announced the appointment of Atul Sood as its new Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, effective June 11, 2025. He will report to Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer at Kia India, and will be responsible for leading the company's nationwide sales strategy and marketing operations.
Sood brings nearly 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. Before joining Kia, he was serving as the President and Director at Toyota Mobility Solutions and Services India (TMSS). He has further held key leadership positions at Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Toyota Motor Asia Pacific, with a focus on dealer network expansion, pan-India growth, and customer-centric initiatives. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from SCMHRD, Pune, and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology.

Kia India currently operates with an annual production capacity of 300,000 units at its Anantapur facility and has launched eight models in the Indian market. Kia Carens Clavis EV to launch in India on July 15 as an all-electric avatar of the ICE-powered Carens Clavis MPV.
The Kia Carens Clavis EV is the brand's first mass-market electric vehicle in India and is set to launch on July 15, 2025. Based on the ICE-powered Clavis MPV, the EV retains the same three-row practicality while integrating a host of EV-specific changes. It is expected to be priced around the ₹ 20 lakh mark (ex-showroom), positioning it as one of the most accessible electric MPVs in the Indian market.
Kia has confirmed that the Clavis EV will offer a claimed range of up to 490 km on a full charge. It is expected to be equipped with the same front-mounted electric motor and battery configurations as the Hyundai Creta Electric. Battery options will include a 42 kWh standard battery and a 51.4 kWh long-range option.
The electric MPV will bring a feature-rich interior, sharing much of its equipment with the ICE model. Expected features include a dual-screen setup for the infotainment and digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ambient lighting, electric parking brake, air purifier, and a six-way powered driver seat. Kia is also likely to introduce ventilated seats, vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging capabilities, and a dashcam setup.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India is rapidly moving towards becoming the world's third-largest economy, adding that the country has made progress across every sector in the last 11 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke about the rapid growth in defence production, especially after Operation Sindoor.(DD) Speaking at the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela, the Prime Minister said that India's manufacturing sector is one of its "greatest strength" and that the government has taken steps to boost employment in the private sector. "The focus of the Indian government is also on creating new employment opportunities in the private sector. Recently, the government has approved a new scheme - the Employment Linked Incentive scheme. Under this scheme, the government will provide ₹15,000 to youth securing their first job in the private sector, meaning the government will contribute to the first salary of their first job. For this, the government has allocated a budget of about ₹1 lakh crore, and this scheme will help in creating approximately 3.5 crore jobs," he said. A large number of new jobs are being created in manufacturing... To boost the manufacturing sector, Mission Manufacturing has been announced in this year Budget. In recent years, we have strengthened the Make in India campaign." The Prime Minister said that two sectors in particular, electronics and mobile phone manufacturing, and defence manufacturing, have seen massive growth. "From PLI scheme, 11 lakh jobs were created. In the recent years, mobile phones and electronic sectors saw unprecedented expansion. Today, electronics worth ₹11 lakh crores are being manufactured. This sector has witnessed growth of more than 5 times in the last 11 years. Earlier, there were only 2-4 units of mobile phone manufacturing. Now, the number has increased to 300 units where lakhs of youth are working..." He also spoke about the rapid growth in defence production, especially after Operation Sindoor: "There is one more such sector and after Operation Sindoor, it has been widely discussed. It is defence manufacturing. India is making new records in defence manufacturing. Our defence production has reached beyond ₹1.25 lakh crores... Today, our country is rapidly moving towards becoming the world's third-largest economy. This is the marvel of the hard work of my youth. In the past 11 years, India has made progress across every sector," he said. Quoting a report by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Prime Minister said that government welfare schemes have also helped boost employment. "Recently, a report by the International Labour Organisation stated that in the past decade, over 90 crore citizens in India have been brought under the coverage of welfare schemes. The impact of these schemes goes beyond welfare -- they have also contributed significantly to employment generation. For instance, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, over 4 crore houses have been built so far. And it's not just about providing homes. The process of building these houses has created countless job opportunities across the country. In this, most of the jobs were created in villages," PM Modi added. (ANI)

The Centre is trying to make available technology in three to four months to different private factories to ramp up rare earth magnets production in India, said Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy . "We used to be 100% dependent on China for permanent magnets of the rare earths. But recently, China has refused to supply. With this view, the Indian government is making efforts for permanent magnet manufacturing," Kishan Reddy told ANI. "Our mining ministry's institute in Hyderabad has made efforts and prepared a permanent magnet processing unit with equipment. After three to four months, we will try to manufacture permanent magnets by giving the technology to different private factories. For this, the Indian government has also started some PLI schemes to encourage it. We are paying attention to this subject," he added. He said that PM Modi has continuously discussed the production of magnets in India. "Recently, during his (PM Modi) visit to 5 countries, discussions were held with different countries on this subject. The raw material of rare earth is also available in less quantity in India. Importing that raw material, processing it, making permanent magnets for it, which is used from cell phones to space technology, including defence, there is a huge demand for this. The Indian government is working seriously for this. This scheme has also been brought under it," he said. Live Events The central government has earmarked Rs 1,345 crore to incentivise rare earth magnets production in India, aimed at building domestic capacity when there are reports of global short supply. Early this April, China announced a decision to implement export controls on certain rare earth-related items, pushing a supply shortage across the world, including India. India was in touch with the Chinese side, seeking predictability in the supply of rare earth metals -- which had been put under the export controls regime by the Xi administration. China's overwhelming control of global rare earth processing - commanding over 90 per cent of the world's magnet production capacity - has created significant vulnerabilities for industries worldwide. These materials are critical across multiple sectors, including automobiles, home appliances, and clean energy systems. Beyond China, there are only a few alternative suppliers of critical minerals. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the setting up of the Critical Mineral Mission in the Union Budget for 2024-25 on July 23, 2024. The Union Cabinet in January 2025 approved the launch of the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM) with an expenditure of Rs 16,300 crore and an expected investment of Rs 18,000 crore by Public Sector Undertakings.
