Raja Chaudhary On How Controversies Cost Him Work Opportunities: ‘Suffered As A Result Of…'
Trending Desk
Raja Chaudhary has always been in the news due to several controversies, including his separation from ex-wife Shweta Tiwari and battle with alcoholism.
Raja Chaudhary, known for his stint in Bigg Boss 2, is all set to embark on a new journey soon. The actor has bagged the role of Chaudapa Raya in the popular historical comedy-drama show Tenali Rama. Initially, Raja has always been in the news due to several controversies, including his separation from ex-wife Shweta Tiwari, and his battle with alcoholism. Recently, during an interview, he opened up about how his past controversies have cost him work opportunities.
He said, 'I don't think I've received the amount of work I deserve, probably because of the negative publicity surrounding me. People who have never met me assume that I am always causing difficulties. If I truly caused difficulties, why would the creators of Tenali Rama bring me back? Yes, I suffered professionally as a result of how people perceived me," as quoted by ETimesTV.
Further talking about his alcohol addiction, the actor shared that he has been sober for quite some time now. 'Alcoholism was a big issue in my life, but I only realised it later. I was able to overcome that by focusing on something positive, like pickleball. I engaged myself in the sport, which kept me occupied and helped me overcome my addiction. Thankfully, I've overcome it, though it's still a daily challenge. I need to push myself to stay on track. I've been sober since 2021, and I can now think clearly, stay calmer and be happy," said Raja.
The actor credited his family members for offering him support during his recovery period. 'My parents were uncomfortable with my drinking. Ultimately, you live for your family, and when they have a problem with you, you understand you need to change. I was able to work on myself after accepting my mistakes and deciding to surrender. My family has been there for me through it all, supplying moral support. If I could change one thing about my past, I would never have consumed alcohol. It disturbed my life, and I didn't handle the situations I should have," he added.
Speaking about his daughter, Palak Tiwari, whom he shares with his first wife, Shweta Tiwari, Raja said, 'We remain in touch. She contacts me anytime she has free time from her hectic schedule, and I do the same. I'm very proud of her."
