CLAT PG 2025: Delhi High Court asks NLUs to amend key, declare results
The court, however, rejected the objection with respect to the declared answer to a third question, and asked the consortium of national law universities (NLUs) to accordingly award marks to the candidates.
The court passed the order while deciding three pleas seeking rectification of errors in the final answer key of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)-PG 2025.
The bench's verdict highlighted the issue of a high fee of Rs 1,000 charged by the consortium per question for raising the objection to the provisional answer key, observing there ought to be a 'fine balance' between the concerns of the candidates and the institutions.
While comparing the fee charged for objected questions by other organisations, the fees sought by the consortium 'appeared to be excessive and disproportionate' but the consortium's concern that it was required to keep frivolous individuals and coaching institutes at bay also did not appear to be 'fanciful or imaginative', it added.
The bench, however, expected the consortium to take heed of its observations and take appropriate steps to 'avoid such excessive fee in the next examinations'.
'It may be advisable for the consortium to place this issue before the committee headed by Justice G. Raghuram (retd) for his valuable opinion which may be adhered to by it,' the bench said.
The court ruled on the correctness of the answers in the answer key after considering each question and the submissions made by the counsel for the petitioners and the consortium.
CLAT determines admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate law courses in national law universities in the country. CLAT PG 2025 was held on December 1, 2024.
Multiple pleas were filed in different high courts alleging several questions in the exam were wrong.
On February 6, the Supreme Court transferred all the petitions over the issue to the Delhi High Court for a 'consistent adjudication'.
The top court passed the direction on the transfer petitions of the consortium.

Punjab's sacrilege Bill: activist on tower protest to climb down only after law enacted, says morcha
Hours after the Punjab government tabled a Bill, providing for enhanced penalties, including life imprisonment and Rs 10 lakh fine for those guilty of sacrilege, the Sarb Dharam Beadbi Rokko Morcha said that its member Gurjeet Singh Khalsa, on protest atop a 400-feet high telecom tower for last over 275 days, would climb down only after the proposed legislation is cleared by the House and gets President's assent. 'Khalsa ji will not come down. We will wait for the Governor to give his assent to the Bill,' said convener of the morcha, Bhai Gurpreet Singh. A source in the government, however, said that despite being a state-specific Bill, it will need Presidential assent before being notified as law. Gurpreet Singh said, 'Though the Bill provides for life imprisonment, it has been diluted. We had given them the draft. It also provided for trial of parents if a juvenile commits the crime of sacrilege. Even the previous government's Bill was about life imprisonment.' The Morcha had handed over a draft to the government. The government took a few days to get legal opinion and then tabled the Bill. 'The government thinks that it will be able to bring Khalsa ji down. He is not coming down,' added Gurpreet Singh. The government has only tabled the Bill. It will come up for debate on Tuesday. After the debate, it would be handed over to the select committee. Chief minister Bhagwant Mann had earlier said that the select committee will take a few weeks to consult various stakeholders before giving a report to the Vidhan Sabha. After that a final draft will be prepared and tabled in Vidhan Sabha once again. 'In that case, the protest will continue,' said Gurpreet Singh. He added, 'Khalsa ji is not alone. Today, at least 15 Sikhs have started fast unto death at the morcha in Samana. They are doing satyagraha for the enactment of the law'. Khalsa had climbed up the tower in October last year. His condition has been deteriorating. The CM had met the representatives of the morcha two weeks ago and promised to bring a law. After that he had announced to summon special session of Vidhan Sabha. How Mann and Capt govt Bills compare The Bill tabled in Vidhan Sabha on Monday and the one tabled by former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's government provide for life imprisonment for sacrilege. However, a government functionary said that Amarinder's Bill was about insertions of Sections in IPC and CrPC while incumbent government has opted for a State Bill. Amarinder government had passed The Indian Penal Code (Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2018 and The Code of Criminal Procedure (Punjab Amendment) Bill 2018, which stipulated punishment upto life imprisonment for injury, damage or sacrilege to Guru Granth Sahib, Bhagwat Gita, Holy Quran and Holy Bible with the intention to hurt the religious feelings of the people. The Indian Penal Code (Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2018, sought to amend Indian Penal Code (IPC) by inserting Section 295AA. Under the Section 295 A, a convict was subjected to punishment for a maximum of three years imprisonment with or without fine. Amarinder's Bill enhanced it. It also enhanced the punishment under section 295 IPC (Injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) from two to ten years of imprisonment. These Bills were returned by the Centre recently asking the government that these should be in line with BNS and BNSS. AAP government's Bill says that any person who commits an offence under this Act shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than 10 years and which may extend to life imprisonment, and shall also be liable to pay a fine of Rs 5 lakh which may extend upto Rs 10 lakh. It also says any person who attempts to commit an offence under this Act shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than three years and which may extend to five years, and shall also be liable to pay a fine which may extend upto Rs 3 lakhs. The offence(s) punishable under this Act shall be cognisable, non-bailable and non-compoundable, triable by a sessions court. The investigation of the offence (s) punishable under this Act shall be conducted by the police officer not below the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Union Minister highlights accelerating growth through BIMSTEC coordination
Visakhapatnam: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted that Prime Minister's Vision 2030 and 2047 aims at making India a global maritime leader. Inaugurating the second edition of the BIMSTEC Ports Conclave 2025 in Visakhapatnam on Monday, he emphasised accelerating growth through BIMSTEC cooperation, developing a maritime dashboard for project monitoring, promoting PPP models in port infrastructure, encouraging cruise tourism, and advancing coastal economic zones. 'Together, we sail towards a connected, resilient, and prosperous BIMSTEC maritime future,' he stressed. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shantanu Thakur underlined the importance of BIMSTEC in bridging south and Southeast Asia and opportunities it presents in realigning global supply chains. Addressing the gathering, Visakhapatnam MP M Sribharat stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, port-led development will accelerate in the state. He mentioned that the state is currently developing four new ports and proposed to establish a port every 50-km along the coastline. In his keynote address, secretary general, BIMSTEC Indra Mani Pandey presented the BIMSTEC Vision 2030, which provides a structured roadmap for cooperation. Not informed about bridge opening, CM Siddaramaiah writes to PM
BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, complaining about him not being informed about the inauguration of state's longest cable bridge at Sagar in Shivamogga that was opened by Union Minister for Highways and Transport Nitin Gadkari on Monday. The CM stated that the state government places on record its protest against such non-cooperative action. 'I do hope that all central ministers will be strongly advised to refrain from such discordant acts in the future,' he said. The CM stated that organising any programme in the state without consulting the state government violates the protocol. It is also unusual that the name of a former chief minister was mentioned before the names of deputy chief minister, Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and chairman of state Legislative Council. The programme was held in spite of the state government expressing its disagreement. This shows sheer arbitrariness and defies the very spirit of cooperative federalism, which has always steered the Centre and state relations as per the mandate of our Constitution, he added. The CM said the foundation stone laying function, dedicating five National Highway projects of 88 km with an investment of over Rs 2,000 crore, was held on Monday by the ministry of road transport and highways at Sagar in Shivamogga district. Work on bridge unfinished, CM tells PM 'After coming to know about this programme through other sources, I had personally written to the Union Minister on July 11, requesting him to postpone the event,' Siddaramaiah stated. The CM also complained that the programme in Sagar was arranged without consulting the state government and the chief minister's name too was mentioned in the invite. 'Though the minister agreed to postpone the programme on July 11, to our dismay, the function has taken place. Hence I am bringing the serious breach of protocol to your knowledge,' he told the PM. He also mentioned that this bridge was initially conceptualised by the state government in 2013 and subsequently implemented by the central government. He said as per the technical report, the work has not been completed and the inauguration should not have taken place.
