South Korean actor Shin Seung-ho will not be serving his mandatory military duty. He has been granted an exemption due to a serious knee injury. The exemption was related to a health issue that occurred a few years ago and was treated with surgery.
The news of his exemption came to light on June 18 through local media reports. According to a report by TenAsia, Shin Seung-ho was diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in 2021. He later underwent surgery to repair the torn ligament. His military exemption was finalised towards the end of that year.
Following the report, his agency, KINGKONG by STARSHIP, also confirmed the development. 'In 2021, Shin Seung-ho sustained an ACL rupture during personal activities, underwent surgery, and was subsequently exempted from military service," it said in a statement as quoted by Soompi.
Shin Seung-ho began his career in a completely different field before transitioning into acting. For 11 years, he played soccer and trained in the sport. He later retired from football and chose a different path. In 2016, he entered the entertainment world as a model.
His acting career began in 2018 with the popular web drama A-Teen. Since then, he has taken on a variety of roles in different genres. He was part of several well-known shows, which included Do You Like Brahms?, D.P., Alchemy of Souls and Weak Hero Class 1.
He is currently seen on the tvN variety show Handsome Guys. The show also stars Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Dong Hyun, Lee Yi Kyung and Oh Sang Wook. In the series, the cast travels across South Korea and explores different regions. They search for unique local spots, hidden treasures and lesser-known experiences. The aim of the show is to highlight South Korea's culture, natural beauty and the everyday lives of people in various areas.
Next, Shin Seung-ho is set to return to the big screen with Omniscient Reader: The Prophet, directed by Kim Byung-woo. It is based on the famous webtoon Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and serves as the first film in the multi-part series.
Apart from Shin Seung-ho, the film will feature Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Min-ho, Chae Soo-bin and Nana. BLACKPINK's Jisoo will be seen in a special cameo role.
Omniscient Reader: The Prophet will be released on July 23. Shrishti Negi

A-list stars light up Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sánchez's star-studded final wedding bash in Venice with dance party

The wedding celebration of American tycoon and former journalist Lauren Sánchez Bezos in Venice culminated on Saturday, June 29, 2025, marking the third and final day of festivities. Athletes, celebrities, influencers, and business leaders converged to revel in the extravagant affair, attracting a high-profile crowd, including Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, NFL legend Tom Brady, and the Kardashians. The celebrity couple was seen enjoying one more special day with their guests amid an unforgettable wedding week. Billionaire Amazon founder, 61, and the Emmy Award-winning journalist, 55, tied the knot on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, Italy, on Friday, June 27. The nuptials, which were preceded by a star-studded welcome party, are being capped off with a final blowout bash on Saturday night, June 28. Ahead of the final day of the star-studded celebration, a source told PEOPLE that two of the newlyweds' friends and favorite musicians, Usher and DJ Cassidy, will perform at the party. "[They're] going to set the tone. Tonight is all about the music," PEOPLE quoted the source as saying about the musical performances. "It's the culmination, the final big party." "The first night was dinner, the second was the ceremony with Andrea Bocelli's son performing, and tonight's the full-on dance floor," the source further stated. Ahead of the final bash, many of the celebrity guests were photographed getting into water taxis en route to the venue. The list included Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kris Jenner, and Brooks Nader. Live Events Sánchez shared her first wedding photo on Instagram just hours after the ceremony. About half an hour after her first post, the former journalist shared a second post gushing over her wedding dress—a high-necked, hand-appliquéd Italian lace wedding dress designed by Dolce & Gabbana. "Not just a gown, a piece of poetry. Thank you @dolcegabbana for the magic you made," Lauren wrote. Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters marched through Venice's central streets on Saturday to say 'No' to billionaire Jeff Bezos , his bride, and their wedding extravaganza, which reached its third and final day amid celebrity-crowded parties and the outcries of tired residents. The couple's wedding, which took place at a private ceremony on the secluded island of San Giorgio, angered many Venetians, with some activists protesting it as an exploitation of the city by the billionaire Bezos, while ordinary residents suffer from overtourism, high housing costs, and the constant threat of climate-induced flooding. As the two newlyweds prepared for the final party Saturday evening, hundreds of Venetians and protesters from across Italy filled Venice's tiny streets with colorful banners reading 'Kisses Yes, Bezos No' and 'No Bezos, no War.' Venice has around 50,000 residents. The demonstration contrasted with the expensive wedding bonanza, seen by critics as an affront to the lagoon city's fragile environment and its citizens, overwhelmed by throngs of tourists. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez announced their relationship in 2019. Four years later, the Amazon founder proposed to the former journalist with a 30-carat engagement ring in May 2023. Following the engagement, the celebrity duo kept their wedding plans private, though they shared bits and pieces here and there.

Singer Paul Simon cancels shows in Philadelphia last minute due to back pain

Washington DC [US], June 29 (ANI): Fans of iconic singer-songwriter Paul Simon were left disappointed after the artist cancelled his scheduled performances in Philadelphia due to health issues. In a post shared on his official Instagram handle on Saturday, the 'Sounds of Silence' singer announced the cancellation of his Saturday and Sunday performances (June 29, 2026) at the Philadelphia Academy of Music, citing chronic and intense back pain. "Regretfully, Paul Simon must cancel two shows tonight, June 28 and tomorrow night, June 29, at Philadelphia's Academy of Music. Paul has been struggling with chronic and intense back pain. Today, it became unmanageable and demands immediate attention," read the post. The team of Paul Simon reassured that the singer would return to complete his music tour. "Unfortunately, we have to cancel these shows at this time, as we don't have the ability to reschedule them. However, we are hopeful that after this minor surgical procedure, which has been scheduled in the next few days, Paul will be able to complete the tour as well as look into returning to make up these dates," read Paul Simon's Instagram post. The post went on to say that full refunds will be provided to those who purchased tickets in advance for the show. The post read, "In the meantime, please go to your point of purchase or local ticket provider for a full refund." According to Variety, Simon, who is currently on his 'A Quiet Celebration Tour,' performed at the Philadelphia venue only two days prior on Thursday. It was the first of three shows to take place in the city. After the stint on the East Coast, the tour heads to the Terrace Theatre at the Long Beach Performing Arts Centre on July 7. Especially considering the surgery, it is unclear how Simon's health will affect the rest of the tour. After stopping in Long Beach, California, Simon is set to do a five-night stint at Los Angeles' Disney Hall, reported Variety. Paul Simon is known for his album 'Graceland', which was released in 1986. (ANI)
