Portrait of last Battle of Britain pilot handed over at National Museum
He died in March this year, at the age of 105.
His portrait will find a permanent home at the Irish National Gallery.

The portrait, unveiled by Mr Hemingway at the British Embassy in Dublin last year marking his 105th birthday, was painted by Welsh artist Dan Llywelyn Hall, 44.
He was the last living pilot from the Battle of Britain and would have been 106 on July 17.
Mr Llywelyn Hall is known for numerous portraits, such as the Queen, Shane MacGowan, Amy Winehouse and other public figures.
Mr Llywelyn Hall said: 'I am pleased for the portrait of the Last of the Few, John Hemingway, to be a legacy for the public in John's native Ireland.
'It's especially meaningful this portrait will live in Dublin as it was John's home and held in great affection.
'This portrait serves as both a record of remarkable life and a testament to the rich personality beyond the uniform.'
Brenda Malone, curator of Irish Military History, said: 'We are delighted to accept this generous gift from Dan, and are particularly happy to record John Hemingway's story, through his portrait, with us.
'The National Museum collects and preserves the history of Irishmen and women's experience of military service around the world, especially in times of conflict.
'John's story stands as a representation for the many Irish people who served in the Royal Air Force during WWII.
'His portrait and history will form a valuable part of our collections which we hold in trust for the Irish people.'

The Spice Girl continued to tell the publication: "I've since had fittings in London and New York, so it's a perfect blend of my love for Britain and America." And speaking of the type of ceremony she has organised, she explained that it will be "regal." She said: "This will be a very formal, English wedding where I want to feel regal and very proper. " She added: "All the ladies will wear hats or fascinators. Then, I'm having a second ceremony abroad, which will be more informal, sexy, and beautiful." Mel went on to say: "It's so important to feel completely in control of myself, from the way I look, to the place I live, to the people I surround myself with and the clothes that I wear." She continued: "My clothes, paid for with my money and chosen by me."

Steve Coogan says ‘disappointing' Labour year will ‘pave the way' for Reform UK
The 59-year old actor and comedian, who recently starred in The Penguin Lessons, reportedly supported the Labour Party in previous elections until last year, where he backed the Green Party. Speaking to The Guardian, Coogan said the current Labour Government is 'no different from a Conservative government in neglecting ordinary people'. 'What they're doing is putting Band-Aids on the gash in the side of the Titanic,' he said. 'The success of Reform, I lay squarely at the feet of the neoliberal consensus, which has let down working people for the last 40 years and they're fed up. It doesn't matter who they vote for, nothing changes for them. 'They'll pave the way for the only alternative, which is a racist clown. Reform (UK) couldn't organise a p*** up in a brewery, but if there's no alternative, you understand why working people will make that choice.' This comes after the Labour Government marked one year since winning the 2024 general election. Coogan added: 'It's not just the fact that people are disempowered and feel like they have no autonomy. It's compounded by the fact that these people, these multinationals, are enabled and supported by the Government to keep their foot on the neck of working people. 'If any government wants to address that extremism, what they have to do is tackle the root cause…(which is) poverty and economic decline in the post-industrial landscape, especially in the North. 'If Labour addressed that problem, Reform would go away – all their support would dissipate.' Coogan also said he agreed 'wholeheartedly' with MP Zarah Sultana's statement shared on Thursday which said the Government had failed to 'improve people's lives' and that the 'two-party system offers nothing but managed decline and broken promises'. Ms Sultana also announced that she was quitting the Labour Party to co-lead a left-wing alternative with former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Coogan is best known for portraying Alan Partridge, a persona which pokes fun at British broadcasters, having appeared in several TV series as well as the 2013 feature film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. The Government has been contacted for comment.
