2008 blast case: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis hints state may not appeal against acquittals
Maharashtra Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis has hinted that the state may not appeal against the
NIA court verdict
that exonerated all the accused in the
2008 blast case
as he claims that the case was a "conspiracy by the UPA government against Hindus".
"We will study the judgement in detail. Apparently, the way things are coming out...this was a conspiracy. We will not blame the police. The (then) UPA government had done this as part of a conspiracy. They had put pressure on the police (to implicate the accused). The UPA government coined 'Hindu terrorism- saffron terrorism'. This was a false narrative done during elections and to appease minorities," Fadnavis said.

"There were so many terror attacks happening in different parts of the country (during the UPA era) and after 9/11 the term Islamic terrorism (was coined)... So, as an answer to that and as an appeasement policy, the UPA government did a conspiracy of claiming there was saffron terrorism, and the police were brought under pressure," he said.

RSS leader for probe to find ‘real culprits' of Malegaon blast
1 2 3 Nagpur: Now, as all the accused in Malegaon blast have been acquitted, it is on the govt's probe agencies to investigate the truth and find out the real perpetrators, said national executive member of RSS, Suresh (Bhaiyyaji) Joshi, on Sunday. Joshi, former Sarkaryavaha (genereal secretary) of RSS, spoke with TOI on the sidelines of a function organised by Dharampeth Education Society. "It's a fact that the blast took place. So, an investigation has to take place to know who did it." Replying to a question, he confirmed that the acquitted persons were framed as part of a conspiracy. "Such conspiracies are not new, but it was finally proven by the court's verdict acquitting the accused," he said. While refusing to comment on recent allegations of accused being forced to name RSS leaders in the blast, Joshi said those who have made the statements may be speaking out of experience. The Society held a function to confer awards on Vansavi Seva Samiti and Kasturi Sanstha. The former, which is active in the Jamod Tehsil of Buldhana district, received the award for preventing religious conversions and bringing back tribals to the Hindu faith apart from other work. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Resmed AirSense 11 with flat 20% off ResMed Buy Now Undo Joshi said conversion is a deep-rooted problem in the country. "However, the RSS welcomes the recent proposal by the Kerala Council of Churches which has stood against forcible conversion. It is indeed encouraging to find some Christian bodies rising against conversion. The Sangh has been working on Ghar Wapsi to bring people back to their original faith. The efforts on preventing conversion are going well too," he said. Joshi said that neglect by a segment of society is also a driving force towards a change of faith, apart from poverty and lack of education. Earlier, a member of the Dharampeth Education Society, Kumarmukund Shastri, lauded the work by Vansavi Seva Samiti. Ganesh Nathani of the Seva Samiti said widespread conversions were happening among the tribals in the Jamod area for the last 40 years. "With Samiti's efforts, as many as 95% of the persons have come back to the Hindu faith," he said. "They were lured by offering healthcare and other help. However, another group silently worked on changing the tribals' food habits by even making them habitual to eating beef," Nathani told TOI. I was illegally detained, tortured to name PM Modi, others by Mumbai ATS: Pragya
Bhopal: The former BJP Member of Parliament from Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur criticised Param Bir Singh, the former Mumbai Police commissioner and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer, calling him "a depraved and disgraceful officer who broke every law," Pragya Thakur, who was recently acquitted in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, while talking to reporters in Bhopal alleged that she was illegally detained and tortured for refusing to name senior BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now During her interrogation, Thakur claimed she was pressured to implicate prominent figures including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indresh Kumar, and former BJP leader Ram Madhav. "They told me to say these leaders told me to do it. I refused—and that's why they tortured me," she said. The Bhopal MP further alleged that she was held illegally for 13 days, remained in police custody for 24 days, and was subjected to physical and mental harassment by ATS officers, including male personnel. "They crossed all limits. Every law was broken," Thakur added. She accused the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) govt of misusing investigative agencies to "create fear" and categorise Hindutva as terrorism. "The entire ecosystem was used to demonise Hindus, saints, and even the armed forces. They tried to erase our identity," she said. Without directly naming Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh, she remarked, "That man is not worth naming. Whoever takes his name in the morning will have a bad day." She also referred to co-accused individuals who allegedly died under suspicious circumstances. "One woman still doesn't know if she's a widow. That's the extent to which they went," she stated. "The court has now said those who presented false evidence must be investigated. I'm confident they will be punished," Thakur concluded, adding, "We work for rashtra neeti, not rajneeti."
