Oklahoma attempting to get Bowe Bentley on campus for ChampU BBQ per report
The Oklahoma Sooners' 2026 quarterback recruiting took a turn late Thursday night when Jaden O'Neal decommitted from the Sooners. That leaves the Sooners to focus entirely on four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley.
In the wake of O'Neal's decommitment, the Sooners are looking to get Bentley back on campus this weekend, according to ESPN's Eli Lederman (formerly of Tulsa World). Bently just completed a strong showing in the Elite 11 finals in California this week.
Bentley was the top performer on night two of the Elite 11 finals after completing 18 of 20 passes and looking good in the Pro Day element of the drills. Analysts marveled at his accuracy and ability to throw on the move. It's that athleticism that's made him one of the more highly sought after quarterbacks over the last six months.
The four-star quarterback out of Celina, Texas has seen a meteoric rise in the rankings this offseason. In 247Sports rankings back in November, he was considered the No. 296 player in the class. In March, he shot up to No. 75 overall in the class.
Now Bentley is down to two schools, the Sooners and the LSU Tigers. According to Lederman, a decision could be coming sooner rather than later. If Oklahoma is able to get Bentley back on campus this weekend for the ChampU BBQ, just two weeks after his official visit at the beginning of June, it would be a significant development in his recruitment.

Ben Shelton left furious after ‘unbelievable' decision to suspend play at Wimbledon due to bad light
Ben Shelton and Rinky Hijikata were left furious after play was suspended late on day four at Wimbledon moments before the American was due to serve for the match. The second-round contest was approaching a conclusion, despite both players questioning whether the match should continue into the third set with light quickly fading. Advertisement The No 10 seed led 6-2, 7-5, 5-4 before the umpire announced on No 2 Court "play is suspended' at 9:29pm BST. Shelton then raced towards the umpire's chair, waving his finger to protest at the decision. The 22-year-old was held back by an official before hastily packing his bag and applauding the crowd. Shelton was in fine form and had failed to drop a service game all match. Shelton and Hijikata will resume their match, which has currently lasted two hours and 11 minutes, on No 2 Court at around 1:30pm, with the match due on second after Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova v Naomi Osaka in the women's singles third round. Advertisement The decision was met with frustration and anger from both broadcasters and fans. The ESPN commentary team called the decision 'unbelievable'. Ben Shelton of the U.S. reacts after the decision is made to suspend play due to low light (REUTERS) CoCo Vandeweghe sympathised with Shelton's frustration, stating: "If I'm Ben Shelton, I'm really furious right now that I'm not able to serve it out. 'Four points, four serves, it could be over. I would have preferred to play it out, but you have to think of both players. 'If you're Ben, I want my day off and want to properly prepare, and not have to feel like I'm getting ready for a match. If you're confident, to serve it out in four points, maybe five max. Ben Shelton of United States speaks with officials after play was suspended (Getty Images) 'I want that day's rest, it's a marathon, not a sprint, these are the days you count on, your days off, Ben is really looking forward to, more so than the later rounds." Advertisement While James Blake added: 'A bad decision forced another bad decision... They could've stopped at the end of the second set or at 4-2.' And another former US player Mardy Fish backed Shelton to finish the match in style on Friday: 'Ain't a doubt in my mind Ben will come out and bust four aces. Little hit and giggle tomorrow stud.'

Steelers countdown to kickoff — No. 65: a history of the number and who wore it best
The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we're at 65 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we're taking a look at the history of No. 65 and the players who wore it best. Current Steelers No. 65 wearer: N/A There is no player currently wearing No. 65 on the Steelers roster, but it was last worn by Dan Moore Jr., who signed with the Titans this offseason. Last five Steelers to wear No. 65: Best No. 65 in Steelers history: OT John Jackson Jackson stands out as the best Steeler to ever wear No. 65. Drafted by Pittsburgh with the 252nd overall pick in the 10th round of the 1988 NFL Draft, Jackson served as the Steelers' starting left tackle for nearly a decade, from 1988 to 1997. He played in 153 games for Pittsburgh, 130 of those coming as starts. He was tasked with protecting Steelers quarterbacks like Mark Malone, Bubby Brister, Neil O'Donnell, Mike Tomczak, and Kordell Stewart. Jackson's steady play and durability even led to a Super Bowl XXX appearance, where the Cowboys unfortunately defeated the Steelers 27-17. Jackson's impact in the '90s cannot be overlooked and he is arguably the greatest Steeler to ever don No. 65.
