SIA flight bound for Seoul returns to Singapore due to technical issues
SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN): A Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight from Singapore to Seoul returned to Changi Airport on Monday (Aug 4)after the aircraft experienced a technical issue while in the air.
Flight SQ600 had departed from Changi Airport's Terminal 2 at 8.15am on Monday (Aug 4, 2025), according to flight tracking website FlightAware. The flight returned to Singapore at around 9.55am, the data showed.
The Boeing 787-10 was originally scheduled to arrive at Incheon International Airport in South Korea at about 3.30pm local time (2.30pm Singapore time) on the same day.
Data from FlightAware showed that after the plane departed from Singapore, it turned towards the south-east shortly after entering Malaysian airspace.
It then circled over the South China Sea before returning to Changi Airport.
In response to queries from The Straits Times, an SIA spokesperson said the Boeing 787-10 turned back to Singapore shortly after take-off due to a technical issue.
The plane landed safely in Singapore at 9.54am on Monday (Aug 4). The 338 passengers on board were provided with food vouchers while they waited for a replacement aircraft, the spokesperson said.
At 12.55pm Singapore time on Aug 4, the replacement aircraft departed for Seoul, and is expected to arrive in Seoul at about 7.45pm South Korean time, SIA added.
The spokesperson said: 'SIA sincerely apologises to all affected customers for any inconvenience caused. The safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority.' -- The Straits Times/ANN

Visit Malaysia Year 2026 Has An Official Drink And It's A Fine Mix Of Local Flavours

Named the Bandung Pandan Spritz, its the creation of our local bartender Muhammad Nadzemi Norihan. Nadzemi from Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel & Convention Centre competed against 30 other bartenders to make the official ''welcome drink'' and emerged as a winner at the Grand Finals of the Signature Mocktail Championship for Visit Malaysia 2026. The competition was organised by the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and Mixology Alliance of MFBEA (MAM) with support from Tourism Malaysia. The mocktail Bandung Pandan Spritz impressed judges with its fusion of local flavours comprised of rose bandung, coconut, and lychee with added fizz. During the competition, Nadzemi paired the drink with kuih lapis, explaining that the kuih lapis and the drink flavours represent Malaysia's multiracial society. On 31 July, members of the media had a taste of Bandung Pandan Spritz at the media launch in R Bar, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel. Nadzemi demonstrated how he made the drink using clarified bandung, lemon concentrate, and coconut lychee cordial. The drink is also garnished with a lychee cradled in a pandan leaf. The mocktail is refreshingly smooth and it was fun to have the hints of flavours coming through as you drink it. Although bandung syrup is used, it's not sickly or overly sweet.
