Manchester City's Vitor Reis set to join CFG-owned Girona on loan deal
Manchester City defender Vitor Reis is set to join Girona on a loan deal. The arrangement between the sister clubs in the City Football Group (CFG) will see the centre-back join Michel's side for 2025-26. Girona have previously had loan agreements for former City full-back Yan Couto and current City winger Savinho, who was on loan at the Catalan club from CFG-owned Troyes, who went on to become senior internationals with Brazil. Advertisement Reis, 19, joined City in January from Palmeiras for an initial fee of €35million (£29.5m, $35.8m), signing a four-and-a-half contract through to the summer of 2029. The defender made four appearances for Pep Guardiola's side since his arrival, none of which coming in the Premier League. He played all 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over Wydad at the Club World Cup this summer. Manchester City have facilitated multiple loan deals to Girona in recent years, with City Football Group (CFG) owning a 30 per cent stake in the La Liga club. CFG had previously owned a 47 per cent stake, but it sold 17 per cent to an independent blind trust in order to comply with UEFA's multi-club ownership rules, allowing both teams to compete in the Champions League. Reis made 22 appearances for Palmeiras after coming through the youth system of the Brazilian side. He signed his first professional contract towards the end of the 2022 season and soon established himself as a regular starter in central defence for Abel Ferreira's side. He was one of a number of young Palmeiras players to earn moves to Europe. Reis came through Palmeiras' youth system as the same time as Endrick and Luis Guilherme, who moved on to Real Madrid and West Ham United respectively in 2024.
