Kaizer Chiefs' Gaston Sirino faces SARS trouble over R6. 1 million unpaid taxes
Sirino, who won nine trophies with Sundowns in six years with the club before joining Chiefs last year, will now have to fork out a massive sum.
SARS Tax Debt Notice for Sirino: Urgent Payment Required Within 10 Days
'According to the records of the South African Revenue Service, you have failed to pay your tax debt for one or more tax years and tax periods," read a letter to the player from SARS as quoted by the Sunday World.
'You are requested to make full payment within 10 days from the date of this letter of demand.
'Failure to make full payment or use the above remedies may result in the following actions and possibly others: SARS may appoint any third party who presently or in the future will owe you money or hold money for you to settle your tax debt with this money.
'A civil judgment is being entered against you, in which case a warrant of execution may be issued for the sheriff of the court to attach and sell your assets.
'If you are a natural person, you may apply for a reduction of the amount to be paid to SARS based on you and your dependents' basic living expenses.
'If you are a non-natural person, you may apply for a reduction of the amount to be paid to SARS based on serious financial hardship.'
Though Chiefs did win their first piece of silverware in a decade when they beat Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final last month, it did not hide the fact that the AmaKhosi finished outside the top eight for a second season in a row.
Since the end of the season, the rumour mills have begun to swirl about high-profile transfers with Percy Tau even linked with a possible move to Chiefs. This comes after Ranga Chivaviro already left the club earlier in June.

Kaizer Chiefs news: New season, doubts grow, deal delayed
As the new season edges closer, uncertainty is growing around Kaizer Chiefs' transfer dealings and overall squad readiness. After a trophy-winning campaign that ended a decade-long drought, expectations are (as always) high for Amakhosi, but recent developments have left fans and insiders uneasy. One of the club's most talked-about potential signings, Etiosa Ighodaro, has yet to be finalised, with the deal reportedly delayed due to last-minute negotiations and administrative holdups. While Chiefs remain interested, sources close to the matter say there is no confirmed contract on the table. 'The talks are still ongoing,' a club insider revealed. 'There is optimism, but no guarantee yet. It's taking longer than expected, and that's causing some frustration.' Despite lifting the Nedbank Cup recently, Kaizer Chiefs' cohesion and tactical sharpness remain a work in progress, sparking questions about whether the team is ready to challenge for major honours again. Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has been vocal about his ambitions but also about the challenges facing the club. 'We need the right players to strengthen the squad. Without that, it will be difficult to sustain success,' Nabi stated after winning the Nedbank Cup. 'My focus is on preparing the team, but the management must deliver on promises made regarding reinforcements.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Jessica Motaung promises more big-name signings for Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs, led by marketing director Jessica Motaung, are set to make more high-profile signings and leverage their youth talent as they aim to improve their performance in the Betway Premiership this season. Picture: Ryan Wilkisky/BackpagePix While Kaizer Chiefs have already made a number of high-profile signings ahead of the new season, club marketing director Jessica Motaung has promised the Soweto Giants will still sign more big names in the coming months. Since the end of last season, Chiefs have already signed Ethan Chislett, Thabiso Monyane, Flavio Silva, Paseka Mako, Nkanyiso Shinga and Siphesihle Ndlovu. Chiefs will not be involved in the opening weekend of local football action in the MTN8, but they will still have their work cut out from the outset in their new Betway Premiership campaign. With Chiefs having finished outside the top eight in the league the last two seasons, there are increased expectations that the Soweto Giants will produce a much better showing.
