Debbie makes a huge decision in Coronation Street as Ronnie is left reeling
Debbie initially kept the diagnosis a secret, not wanting her family and friends to change the way they viewed her as she came to terms with the news.
'She wants to keep it to herself for as long as possible,' Sue Devaney said at the start of the storyline. 'She's going, 'I've been diagnosed with this, so how am I going to cope with it? I'll find out how I cope with it and then I'll tell my family.' She's gone about it that way.'
Eventually Debbie had to open up to her loved ones about what was wrong, after she collapsed and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Abi (Sally Carman) wanted to take her to hospital.
Telling the truth eventually allowed her to mend her relationship with Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan). Debbie had pushed Ronnie away, making out that she didn't love him, because she couldn't face him how their relationship might change in the future as her illness progressed.
Ronnie has reassured her that he's going nowhere and is ready to be by her side to face whatever comes.
This is due to be put to the test in upcoming episodes, as Debbie makes a massive decision which could potentially affect their future for a long time to come, without talking to Ronnie about it first.
Ronnie and Debbie are keen to buy number 6 Coronation Street, the former home of Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King). They aren't the only couple interested, however, as Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) also have their eye on the house.
Debbie is furious when she discovers that Carla has put in an offer, which has been accepted and she takes action.
Ronnie is appalled to hear that Debbie has retaliated by placing a 'crazy' offer for the property, far above what it's worth. He begs her to retract the offer, but she stubbornly refuses, reminding Ronnie that she's a successful businesswoman and she knows what she's doing. More Trending
It's Ronnie's belief that Debbie is so desperate to get the house because she wants to be on hand for her brother Kevin as he goes through more cancer treatment.

Viewers know that Kevin is actually cancer free and his treatment has worked, after Dr Gaddas (Christine Mackie) congratulated him on the news. But he's still pretending to be ill because he's afraid Abi will leave him for his brother Carl (Jonathan Howard) otherwise.
So when Ronnie tells Kevin about Debbie's reckless actions with the house, a guilty Kevin tries to persuade his sister not to do anything daft because of him.

Emmerdale legend warns that plan will 'end in tears' - but a shock follows
Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) has been left worried over Cain Dingle's (Jeff Hordley) desperation to help Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) in Emmerdale. As a result of the hysterectomy she had recently, Sarah can no longer carry a child. The news was so badly timed, as a few hours prior she was excitedly talking to Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) about him being her sperm donor for the IVF journey. Yesterday, Sarah was back in hospital as a result of Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) losing control of her car. Gabby had drunk an obscene amount of coffee that morning and felt dizzy at the wheel. She fainted, forcing passenger Sarah to try and bring the car to a stop. In the hospital, Sarah broke down to Cain. She admitted that all she wants is to hold a little mini version of her, and hates that she'll have to live with the fact it will no longer happen, as well as knowing her Fanconi Anemia will shorten her life. Cain's heart broke for Sarah. Determined to help, he then suggested that Sarah could look into surrogacy. It wouldn't be the exact same as carrying the baby and giving birth herself, but she didn't have many other options. Once Charity discovered this, she wasn't impressed. Outside, Charity told Cain that he's not being fair by getting Sarah's hopes up, as the plan would not work. Clearly needing a distraction from the grief he's feeling towards son Nate, Cain was absolutely adamant that he would make Sarah's dream come true. In tonight's episode, Cain spoke to best friend and local GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) about surrogacy. Unfortunately, Liam said that the chances of Sarah being successful with an agency would be slim, given her illness and everything she's been through recently. Frustrated, Cain relayed this to Charity, who wondered if it was a sign. More Trending But when they sat down to tell Sarah this, both characters could not bring themselves to break her heart again. Instead, Cain lied and said that Liam thinks it's a really good idea. Sarah, who had spent the day warming to the idea of surrogacy, was grateful and felt like there was some light at the end of the tunnel at last. Sarah will not be able to find a surrogate through an agency, but upcoming episodes will see her discover there is another option. Charity will impulsively tell Sarah that she could carry the baby instead – but how will she react? Emmerdale legend confirms 'nasty twist' when Kim Tate catches Crowley out
Doctor Eddie Crowley (James Hillier) has revealed his latest plan to Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) in Emmerdale, and it involves targeting Kim Tate (Claire King). It was confirmed in this evening's episode of the ITV soap that Kim's love interest Eddie is in fact Doctor Crowley. Kim decided to invite Eddie to Home Farm after spending time with him, so he could meet Joe and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley). As Joe's faced dropped when he realised who he was looking at, he was forced to play along with Crowley's act and not reveal that he kept him hostage yesterday, and performed the illegal kidney transplant operation earlier this year. Crowley delivered quite the performance in front of Dawn and Kim, which wound Joe up even more. When they were alone, Crowley confirmed to Joe that he intends to steal Kim's fortune, and needs Joe's help to do it. The surgeon seemed convinced his plan could work – but he doesn't know what Kim Tate is capable of. Discussing this new storyline, star Claire King said: 'When she finds out who he is, which is all very embarrassing. She brings him to Home Farm and of course Joe's taken aback because he suddenly realises this Eddie isn't Eddie at all. I think it all comes out in the wash and there's a very nasty twist that's coming. 'The minute Kim finds out, it'll be more than his back he needs to watch out for. I mean that. He's very bad and very nasty and he will go to any lengths to get her money and he kind of does, but there's always a twist.' During their afternoon, Joe was rude to Eddie which surprised Dawn and Kim. While it was brushed under the carpet in that moment, Claire has confirmed Kim will revisit what Joe said later down the line. 'She just thinks it's off of Joe and he's just on one of his miserable days, but she is suspicious and she does ask him later on. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? 'But Joe has a habit of being rude to people, he gets defensive or whatever, so she does brush it off at the time and apologises to Eddie. But she's got to get to the root of it and that's where the conversation with Joe starts.' More Trending With Kim passionate about rebuilding her Tate empire, Claire hopes that Joe's new relationship with Dawn will play a part in growing the business again. 'I think that's why Dawn was placed with Joe. Maybe they might get married and then there'll be even more little Tates', she wondered. View More » 'It's good. Emmerdale twist 'sealed' after credits clue as truth about Eddie finally exposed
On tonight's Emmerdale, we learned the truth about Kim's new man Eddie and one resident was in for a shock when his identity was finally revealed Emmerdale could be set for a huge twist - as the truth about Kim Tate's new man Eddie was revealed. This evening, it was confirmed that Eddie is actually Dr Crowley and Kim had invited him over to the house for dinner. Joe was stunned to find out the truth about Dr Crowley and how he had connected with Kim, with her grandson now very fearful about what the future might hold if the truth comes out about what he had done with Caleb's kidney. However, could another twist be in store? A potential clue in the credits could hint at some drama up ahead. Dr Crowley was once again billed just as that - with no mention of the name Eddie. A few years back when Caleb was revealed to be Nicky's dad, the credits then changed to give Nicky Caleb's surname and it then read Nicky Miligan. Could the lack of Eddie in the credits prove something else might be afoot? Does this mean that Crowley has more plans up his sleeve for Kim - and could there be another twist ahead? Earlier this week, Joe was kidnapped by Crowley who demanded money off him - or he'd remove Caleb's kidney that he had carried out the transplant on with Joe. Joe had been hit over the head with a shovel and woke up in a makeshift hospital. "It's a rather large sum of money, even to Joe, which is quite a scary thing. It's less the money, and more the idea that someone had got into the house. You've lost your safe bubble when someone's broken into your kitchen and left a note," he said. "He's less scared and worried about the bribe [as] such, he's more worried about the fact that his girl and her kids are going to be in danger." Hinting who the blackmailer could be, he added: "Hell, it could be anyone. It could be Kim at this point, it could be Dawn, it could be Dawn's kids! It could be anyone by this point, really, couldn't it? "I think there's enough people in the village who have it in for Joe who could have a reason to be blackmailing him!" Of course, we now know that it has been Crowley that has been blackmailing Joe and now he has his money, he still doesn't plan to leave Joe alone.
