Freddy Brazier's real reason for 'moving in' with gran with dad Jeff 'livid'

Daily Mirror08-06-2025
As it has been reported that Freddy Brazier is living with his grandmother Jackiey Budden, a source has revealed the real reason for the alleged family feud as dad Jeff is 'livid'.
Freddy Brazier is said to have felt as though he's 'fallen into the background' of his actor brother Bobby's success, says a source.
The aspiring model is thought to have been living with his grandmother, Jackeiy, over the last week before he revealed he was checking himself into a rehab centre on Friday.

Freddy was pictured with her maternal grandmother amid reports of a rift between the 20-year-old and his dad Jeff, with Freddy allegedly smoking a joint during the outing. And revealing that the relationship has left Jeff 'livid', a source told Mirror, "Jeff is livid over the whole thing. He feels that he has brought the kids up single-handedly and Jackiey is a bad influence. Drugs are not something Jeff wants the boys around and he's not happy with the whole situation.'

Jeff has had a long-standing feud with Jade's mum. Previously he said that during his sons' childhoods, Jackiey would spoil them with 'unsuitable' gifts, claiming she once bought Freddy a hamster without checking with him, and supplied the boys with mobile phones during a visit. 'I just wish we could work together a little better,' he said in 2012.
However, the relationship later broke down completely and Jackiey didn't see her grandsons for a period of time, before regular visits began again. 'As she settled in herself, the boys kept a lot of contact with her and at the moment she's very helpful and very prominent in their lives,' said Jeff in 2014.
Revealing the alleged reason for Freddy's increased time with Jackiey, the source says that his brother Bobby's soaring success on TV hasn't been easy.
'It's difficult for Bobby and for Freddy as brothers, especially considering Bobby's success in recent years with Strictly and EastEnders – Freddy feels like he's fallen into the background.
'It's a case of him rebelling against it all. But they are really close as siblings and Bobby wants more than anything for his brother to come home and for the family to be back together again. He hates seeing his dad so anxious.'

While Bobby has carved out a successful TV career, Freddy's profile is also on the rise. He describes himself as a 'model and TV personality' and appeared on Celebrity Race Across The World alongside Jeff.
Last Friday, days after he was spotted smoking what appeared to be a joint with Jackiey, Freddy revealed he was checking into rehab. He wrote in his Instagram Stories that he was going to be 'cutting down' as he headed to a rehab centre in Marbella.
'I've been smoking from the age of 12 and it's time to stop,' he wrote. 'It was a bad coping mechanism that turned into an addiction – something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and somewhat OK.'
Continuing that he had found a rehab centre where he could heal, Freddy added, 'I want to be clean so I can live life happily and have healthy relationships with people and be there for all of my family rather than feeling like I'm in the middle and have to choose a side. I haven't been able to feel love properly as I have never loved myself and it starts now. I want to play football and take up boxing. I want to be happy and be in a healthy relationship and have a healthy relationship with my Nana and my father.'

Hugh Cudlipp Lecture: 'Life-saving' project scoops top student award

Dozens of entries were received for this year's Hugh Cudlipp Lecture, and the quality of work was praised by Mirror editor Caroline Waterston - with one 'life-saving' project scooping the top award Aspiring student journalists have been honoured this evening at this year's Hugh Cudlipp Lecture. ‌ Dozens of entries were received and the quality of work was praised by the Mirror 's editor Caroline Waterston. Two commended entries which focused on disabled job hunters and immigration were handed out. Sapphire Hope, who wrote about the difficulties people with disabilities have with finding job's, focused her work on her sister's experience. ‌ The second winners, Paul Wilkinson and Fabienne Dias, focused on immigration through a contributor who arrived on a small boat. Sophie O'Sullivan was highly commended for her documentary on Billingsgate Fish Market. Sharon Browne-Peter scooped the top award and was praised for bringing 'great storytelling to a such an important issue' of living with sickle cell. ‌ Tonight, we have two commended entries: At a time when there is a lot of political focus on disabled people being told to get back to work – our first commended entrant investigated the barriers and hurdles for disabled job hunters, including one disabled man being asked to leave the building. The writer took an issue faced by their own sister, turned it into an investigation and ended up getting it published paywall free by the Financial Times. Congratulations to Sapphire Hope. ‌ Our second commended entrants took on one of the most difficult subjects of the day – immigration – with courage and intelligence. Their investigation included not just voices from the political sphere but the voices of people seeking sanctuary in the UK through a contributor who arrived in a small boat. The result was a carefully balanced and compelling piece of work. Congratulations to Paul Wilkinson & Fabienne Dias who are commended. The Mirror has been a neighbour of Billingsgate Fish Market at Canary Wharf since we moved there in 1994. But the market dates back to 1327 – and now faces closure. This highly commended entrant produced, filmed and edited a documentary – 'The Last Catch' – that beautifully captures not just market life but a way of life under threat, highlighting not just its traditions – but its humour. Congratulations to Sophie O'Sullivan, who is highly commended. ‌ The winning entry's campaign for more Black blood donors to treat sickle cell anaemia blew us away with their passion for their subject and their ability to tell a story. There were several elements across video, social and online journalism, but the documentary – which the entrant created, researched, directed and produced – was especially professional, engaging and moving. The winner brought her own experience of living with sickle cell to the campaign – and wrote about it for CNN's website in a way that was powerful and well-written. This is life-changing, life-saving work combined with great storytelling. Sharon Browne-Peter is our winner. Congratulations.

Robert closes in on deadly John truth in Emmerdale as he makes two discoveries

Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has made two discoveries about John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) in Emmerdale. Last week, after getting word that Owen Michaels (Simon Haines) had confessed to Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) murder, Robert learnt that his brother visited Owen right before he ended his life. Smelling a rat, Robert then contacted Owen's brother Steve, who confirmed the siblings were in Hull the day Nate died, which meant Owen did not kill him. Unfortunately, his attempt at telling the police didn't work due to Steve lying to them about where he was. It looked as though Robert wasn't being honest, so DC Cole sent him on his way after wasting police time. In the pub, as he enjoyed a drink with Victoria (Isabel Hodgins), he discovered the time Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) suffered an allergic reaction to nut milk, and how John saved him. It was a very brief moment so in this evening's episode, Robert began more digging. In the shop, Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) said that Jacob is typically very careful with his nut allergy, and always has EpiPens dotted around in case something happens. As Robert listened, he learnt that there was one specific time that Jacob drank the wrong coffee and also didn't have a pen near him. Conveniently, John was on hand in that exact moment to help Jacob. He used an EpiPen on him, saving his life. Robert was incredibly suspicious, and even more so when Eric then told him about the time John saved Chas Dingle's (Lucy Pargeter) life after being spiked.
