Stuart Little child star's heartbreaking career announcement 26 years after hit movie

Metro09-05-2025
Former child star Jonathan Lipnicki is still hoping to recapture his early Hollywood success.
The Jerry Maguire star rose to fame at just five years old alongside Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger in the 1996 hit, and he had a leading role alongside the titular mouse in Stuart Little three years later.
This led to major parts in 2000's The Little Vampire and 2002's Like Mike, but he hasn't seen the same level of success as an adult.
'I pray every night for clarity on where I need to go, and I'm confident the best is yet to come for me,' he told People. 'And I think you just have to believe that. If you're going to pursue this, you're doing yourself a disservice not to dream big.'
He acknowledge that he 'had some really good things that happened' when he was a youngster, but it's not followed as he's got older.
He added: 'It's totally fine to say I'm not where I want to be career-wise.'
Jonathan – who even had a stint on Celebs Go Dating in the past – is keen to act 'for the rest of his life', and he's working hard to maintain his self-believe 'it's going to happen'.
After his early roles, he returned to high school and then took acting classes before landing parts in some independent films, as well as theatre shows in Los Angeles.
'I've had half-and-half in my adult career where there are some things that were really good and nobody saw them,' he admitted.
Although he doesn't regret any of his choices, he's become more mindful about the roles he takes on.
'To be quite honest, I said no to about five movies in the last year,' he added, as he 'really wants to turn this ship around'.
He has even explored the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) and got himself into incredible shape. More Trending
Despite his family running a company that promotes MMA fights, he's much more interested in reigniting his acting career.
He's maintained steady work since returning to the business, with two films in 2016, while the following year he had six feature films and one short.
In the years before and after the pandemic, he's had one or two each year, and he recently made a guest appearance on TBS' The Joe Schhmo Show.
He played a fictional, egomaniac version of himself on the programme, which pushed him out of his comfort zone, and quipped: 'There was something empowering about that in a weird way.'

Liam Neeson takes a cheeky swipe at Pedro Pascal while promoting new film

Liam Neeson couldn't help but take a cheeky swipe at Pedro Pascal's incredibly packed schedule as he promoted the Naked Gun this week. The Taken actor is starring as Frank Drebin Jr in the reboot of the 80s parody, which is released in cinemas today. A new video has made the rounds on social media, showing the 73-year-old popping up at an early screening in New York and sharing a couple of words about his new project. In the clip, posted by entertainment reporter Jonathan Sim, he thanked the audience for coming before urging them to 'please laugh out loud' at any funny moments – of which there are plenty. 'Spoiler alert: there's no zombies, no superheroes, and Pedro Pascal isn't in this movie,' the action favorite added, to chuckles from the audience. His cheeky comments made light of the ongoing joke that Pedro is in every film or TV show at the moment – after he clocked up roles in The Last of Us, Eddington, Materialists and the Fantastic Four in the last few months alone. The internet's new husband is truly taking 'booked and busy' to a whole new level, and shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, he will be appearing in the Mandalorian and Grogu, as well as Avengers: Doomsday, next year. Meanwhile, Liam has a very busy schedule of his own, and has been jetting around the world to promote the Naked Gun – while also remaining coy of rumors of a romance with his co-star, Pamela Anderson. Despite not confirming the speculation, they are said to be 'smitten' with each other and got very close on set, to film the 'strangest' sex scene of their careers. A bizarre montage showed Frank and Beth (Pamela) taking things to the next level during a romantic getaway, with a snowman joining them in the bedroom. Chatting to Metro at the New York premiere, writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand opened up about putting Liam through his paces, revealing the most 'absurd' thing they asked him to do on camera. 'This is a spoiler, but he has a great … very strange love scene that I believe has to be the strangest sex scene of his life,' Dan told us. 'Every day was the strangest thing,' Doug recalled. 'Every scene is like, 'Liam Neeson is doing this?'' The Naked Gun franchise is a hilarious parody of traditional police action dramas, but – without giving too much away – there are a few jokes that may straddle the line, to which Dan quipped: 'We're all about straddling things. More Trending 'You've got to look at that third rail and just touch it … you hope you don't electrocute yourself too bad but you want to get a little bit of a shock,' Doug insisted. 'We tried everything, and we just let the audience tell us,' his writing partner added. 'We would show it to friends, we would show it to test audiences, and if it got the laugh, then we got the laugh. 'Then we felt comfortable that that we landed on something good.' Naked Gun is out in cinemas now. Got a story?
