Bollywood Actress Dia Mirza Buys BMW iX Electric SUV Worth Rs 1.39 Crore
Bollywood celebrities are slowly adopting luxury electric vehicles, and the latest to join the list is Dia Mirza. The actress, known for her environmental activism, appears to be advancing her agenda with her latest purchase, a fully electric BMW iX. Classified as a luxurious electric vehicle in the Indian market, the EV comes at a starting price of Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom) and seems to be a perfect fit for the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) Ambassador's garage.
The update on Dia Mirza's new BMW iX was shared on Instagram with pictures and videos of her taking the delivery. With this EV in her garage, the actress has joined the list of celebrities like Riteish Deshmukh, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Ibrahim Ali Khan as an owner of the vehicle. Additionally, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has also been seen driving the vehicle.
Dia Mirza's new EV also gets unique features, such as a hexagonal steering wheel and an extensive curved display that includes a 12.3-inch instrument panel and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen. The iX is also equipped with numerous features, such as an electrochromic panoramic glass roof and multi-functional seats that offer memory and massage capabilities.
Dia Mirza's BMW iX xDrive50 comes packed with a 111.5 kWh battery pack, which offers a WLTP range of 635 km on a single charge. The charge from the battery is transferred to two electric motors, one placed on each axle, giving it all-wheel-drive capacity. The combined output of these motors is rated at 523 hp and 765 Nm torque. When put to use, they can propel the SUV from zero to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds.
The battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 35 minutes using a 195 kW DC charger, in 97 minutes with a 50 kW DC charger, in roughly 5.5 hours with a 22 kW AC charger, and in about 11 hours when using an 11 kW AC charger.

Nashik RTO's drive against fancy number plates till July 13
Nashik: The Nashik Regional Transport Office (RTO) began a drive against fancy registration numbers on vehicles from Saturday. It will continue until July 13. Nashik RTO Pradeep Shinde said that there were a high number of vehicles where the fonts of the registration number appear to look like Marathi words like 'Kaka, Dada, Mama', etc. "Hence, it becomes difficult for RTO inspectors and police to figure out the exact registration number on the vehicle," the officer added. The RTO undertook a similar drive from May 28 to June 10 against fancy number plates and black films on the cars, SUVs. A senior official said they had challaned 563 motorists for putting fancy registration numbers on vehicles or putting black films, during the last drive. "We collected a fine of over Rs 4.2 lakh," he added. RTO officials said that there are still a large number of motorists who have such number plates or films on glasses. Over-speeding, rash driving, driving without a helmet or seat belt, and driving from the wrong side of the road are some of the common violations seen throughout Nashik city and rural parts of the district. Traffic violations lead to most of the accidents on streets in Nashik city. Every year, nearly 1,000 people die in road accidents in the entire district, said officials of the city traffic branch.

Ahmedabad: Every year, as monsoon arrives with its waterlogged embrace, Ahmedabad's roads perform their breaking act without fail. This year is expected to not be different. In a clear waste of taxpayers' money, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) between 2020-21 and 2024-25 spent Rs 4,669.86 crore on resurfacing of existing roads and construction of new ones. This data from the civic body's annual report shows that the expenditure includes Rs 2,283 crore for road projects, Rs 672 crore from zonal budgets, and Rs 1,714.86 crore through state govt grants under the Swarnim Yojana. Despite this significant expenses, complaints about deteriorating roads — especially during monsoon — continue to rise. Cave-ins have become a recurring issue, with 49 reported in 2021-22, 79 in 2022-23, 158 in 2023-24, and 50 in 2024-25, totaling 336 over four years. To repair each cave-in, the civic body spends Rs 25 lakh. Additionally, more than 15,000 potholes appear annually during rains, with 19,000 recorded in 2024-25 alone. Separate tenders are issued for pothole repairs, costing over Rs 1 crore per zone, and post-monsoon repairs cost between Rs 5 crore and Rs 7 crore annually, sources said.
