"When abroad, you become voice of India": RJD leader Manoj Jha's message for all-party delegations
Speaking to ANI, Jha said, 'The Centre and the opposition have relevance only in domestic politics. When you go abroad, you become the voice of India. This delegation will execute this mandate. We have to ensure through this delegation that if a country is our friend, whom we have supported in difficult times, then it should support us too.'
Earlier today, Janata Dal (United) leader Neeraj Kumar said that it is important for the international community to understand how Pakistan-sponsored terrorism is disturbing the life of citizens in India.
Kumar said the government's move to send multi-party delegations to key nations was a necessary step to convey India's position on terrorism and regional peace.
On Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bihar President Dilip Jaiswal stressed that national security must unite all political parties to send a strong message both domestically and internationally.
A total of seven groups of MPs have been delegated to go to more than 30 countries, led by a variety of leaders, including Congress' Shashi Tharoor, NCP-SCP's Supriya Sule, BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad, DMK's Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and others.
Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Biju Janata Dal from the opposition's side have sent their MPs to be part of the delegation. NDA allies, including Janata Dal (United), and TDP are also part of the delegations.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, targeting terror bases in Pakistan in retaliation for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The operation targeted terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. It is pertinent to note that this is the first US trip by a serving Pakistan Air Force (PAF) chief in over a decade, reflecting the re-hyphenisation of the US's outlook towards India and Pakistan. The visit will play a significant role in addressing key regional and global security issues as well as building institutional ties,' the PAF said in a statement on Wednesday. It further gave an insight into Sidhu's itinerary, mentioning several important meetings with the top military and political leadership of the US. During his visit to the Pentagon, he met US Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs Kelly L. Seybolt and Air Force Chief of Staff General David W Allvin. As per the statement by PAF, the two sides agreed to forge avenues for bilateral military cooperation, mutual affairs, joint training and technology exchange. Is Pakistan losing trust in China? The visit comes amid Pakistani concerns about the reliability of Chinese military equipment after it received severe battering by Indian forces during Operation Sindoor. Pakistan is reportedly interested in acquiring advanced US platforms such as F-16 Block 70 fighter jets, air defence systems, and HIMARS artillery, as it looks to diversify away from Chinese suppliers. Meanwhile, China has remained tight-lipped over the performance of its weapons to Pakistan during its 4-day military escalation with India. During a presser on May 30, a Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson, Zhang Xiaogang, refused to provide any details on the effectiveness of Pakistan's weapons in the recent military confrontation. There were reports that India recovered an unexploded PL-15E missile, a Chinese-made beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile. While speaking at the presser, Zhang Xiaogang emphasised China's hope that both sides will remain calm and restrained to avoid further complicating the situation, sidestepping questions of its defence weapon systems. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD When pressed further, the Chinese defence official simply said: 'Pakistan received support from China's air defence and satellite systems, but the performance of these systems was below average.' 'We would like to stress that India and Pakistan are neighbours that cannot be moved. We hope both sides will remain calm and restrained to avoid further complicating the situation,' he added. Why India should be concerned Meanwhile, Pakistan's air force chief's visit to the US can be a matter of concern for India as well. During the hunt for Al-Qaeda terrorist Osama Bin Laden following 9/11, there was de-hyphenisation of the American outlook towards India and Pakistan, i.e, the US stopped putting New Delhi and Islamabad on the same level. The discovery of Osama near a military training headquarters in Abbottabad further pushed the US towards India. With the second stint of US President Donald Trump in the office and following the military confrontation between India and Pakistan, a new pattern of re-hyphenation is emerging. When asked about the changing dynamic, former US National Security Adviser John Bolton reiterated the American outlook, emphasising that the US is concerned by China's influence on Pakistan. 'Well, I think much of the de-hyponization came after 9/11 and and I think Secretary Powell and President Bush worked hard to try and do that. And I think right now the common threat that we see, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region, but really on a global basis, is the China-Russia axis. And so there's a lot to talk about there,' he told Firstpost's Bhagyasree Sengupta in May. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'It's distressing to me that Pakistan is so much under the influence of China now. Ultimately, that's not going to be to their benefit. Ultimately, I think peace on the subcontinent is going to have to require an understanding between India and Pakistan. They're the two biggest powers. That's the reality,' he added. Trump has been adamant about taking credit for the ceasefire, which India has made it clear was a bilateral decision. Meanwhile, Pakistan is serving the credit to America on a platter with Islamabad nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, earning more brownie points. Another factor which can be concerning for India is Pakistan's warm ties with both China and the US. Beijing have been a long-time ally of Islamabad and its feathers are less likely to be ruffled with Pak-US collaborations. Meanwhile, Turkey, another key power in Asia, have expressed its solidarity with Pakistan during India's Operation Sindoor. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviews agriculture and rural development initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir
New Delhi [India], June 4 (ANI): Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers' Welfare, and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a detailed review meeting with Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the State Secretariat in Srinagar on Wednesday, said a statement from the Ministry of Rural Development. Speaking at a press conference later, Chouhan emphasised that a developed Jammu & Kashmir is crucial to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Viksit Bharat'. Several important decisions were taken in the interests of farmers and rural residents of the region, he said. During the interaction with the media alongside Omar Abdullah, Chouhan noted that agriculture remains the backbone of both the Indian and Jammu & Kashmir economies, with nearly 50% of the population depending on it for livelihood. He praised the state's initiative 'KisanKhidmatGhar' -- a one-stop center providing farmers access to all agricultural services under one roof. Chouhan expressed satisfaction with the variety of horticulture crops grown in the region, such as apples, almonds, and walnuts. However, he also raised a critical issue -- imported plant materials often turn out to be infected after two or three years. To address this, a Rs 150-crore Clean Plant Center will be established in Srinagar under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). It will focus on clean, disease-free planting material for apples, almonds, walnuts, and berries. Private nurseries will also be supported to ensure high-quality, pathogen-free plants are made available to farmers. He also stated that farmers in J&K who have received land allotments from the government but lack official documentation will be considered for inclusion under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. The government is also planning to launch the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) soon to ensure that horticulture crops are accurately mapped and included under the PM Fasal BimaYojana (PMFBY). Commenting on the demand for a Regional Horticulture Center in the Jammu region, Shri Chouhan announced that ICAR would support Jammu Agricultural University with the required infrastructure. The minister further said that the current storage limit in CA (Controlled Atmosphere) facilities would be extended from 18 months to 24 months. For the horticulture mission, subsidies will be provided for up to a storage capacity of 5,000 metric tons, and even those who have constructed facilities with 6,000 MT capacity will be eligible for subsidy up to 5,000 MT. An MoU will also be signed between ICAR and the university to facilitate cooperation. Highlighting 'saffron' as a symbol of Kashmir's identity, Shri Chouhan announced that the central government would establish a tissue culture lab and nursery to boost saffron production. He said the National Saffron Mission would be revised to suit local conditions, and an expert team of scientists would be formed to improve productivity and reduce losses. For improving soil health and fertilizer regulation, Quality Control Labs will be set up in Kathua, Baramulla, and Anantnag. Under the RKVY scheme, efforts will also be made to enhance irrigation by bridging gaps from canal to field. Chouhan recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the region, where he had announced over Rs 4,200 crore under Phase IV of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to improve road connectivity in rural areas. He appreciated the fast-paced work of the J&K government and said that road construction for remaining areas will begin soon. He noted that 93% of houses under the PM Awas Yojana have been completed, and the remaining eligible beneficiaries--identified from a pool of 500,000 applicants--will be allotted homes after verification. To alleviate rural poverty, women are being empowered through Self Help Groups under NRLM, with many becoming Lakhpati Didis and even Millionaire Didis earning Rs 10 lakh annually. Regarding employment, he said that targets have been set to ensure job availability through MGNREGA, and training programs for youth will also begin shortly. The government will also ensure that no eligible farmer is left out of the Kisan Credit Card scheme. In conclusion, Chouhan said that the government is proud of its achievements and committed to implementing central schemes effectively. Echoing Prime Minister Modi's vision, he assured that all efforts will be made to accelerate the development of Jammu & Kashmir.
