Delhi police's 'Bangladeshi language' label for Bengali an 'insult', says TN CM
Stalin said the Delhi Police, under the Union Home Ministry, has described Bengali as a "Bangladeshi language." This is a direct insult to the very language in which our National Anthem was written, he said.
In a social media post, he said: "Such statements are not inadvertent errors or slips. They expose the dark mindset of a regime that consistently undermines diversity and weaponises identity.
In the face of this assault on non-Hindi languages, Hon'ble @MamataOfficial Didi stands as a shield for the language and people of West Bengal. She will not let this attack pass without a fitting response."
On August 3, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamta Banerjee lashed out at the Delhi Police for referring to the Bengali language as "Bangladeshi national language" in a purported letter, alleging that it was "insulting, anti-national and unconstitutional."

'His passing has caused an irreparable loss not only to Jharkhand but also to the political and social spheres of the entire country,' Kumar wrote. RJD president Lalu Prasad spoke of 'memories of our joint struggles' for achieving 'social justice and empowerment of deprived classes'. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the former Jharkhand chief minister dedicated his life to the upliftment of tribal society. BJD chief and former Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, said Soren would be remembered for his dedicated fight for the rights of tribal and marginalised people. "If Cow Statue Can Enter Parliament, Why Not A Living Cow?": Shankaracharya
Mumbai: Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand has said that a cow should have been taken into the new Parliament building at Central Vista during its inauguration. "If a statue of a cow can enter Parliament, why can't a living cow be taken inside?" he asked reporters on Sunday. The seer said the Sengol held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi while entering the new Parliament building showed a cow engraved on the sceptre. "A real cow should have also been taken into the building to bestow blessings. If there is a delay, we will take cows from all over the country and bring them to Parliament," he said, adding this would ensure the PM and the building receive blessings of a real cow. The Sengol is installed in the Lower House of the Parliament. He also demanded that the Maharashtra government immediately frame a protocol on cow felicitation. "The state has not yet declared how to honour the cow. It should finalise a protocol so that people can follow it, and also fix penalties for its violation," he said. The Shankaracharya demanded that every assembly constituency in India have a "Ramadham" — a cow shelter accommodating 100 cows. "A total of 4,123 Ramadhams will be built across the country. The shelters will focus on daily cow service, protection, and promoting indigenous breeds," he added. Those following the protocol while caring for cows would be financially rewarded. "A person taking care of 100 cows will receive Rs 2 lakh per month," he added. The Hindu pontiff further said that the Dharma Sansad has passed a congratulatory resolution in support of Hoshangabad MP Darshan Singh Chowdhary, who has demanded that the cow be declared as Rashtramata (Mother of the Nation). The Shankaracharya said people should support only those candidates who protect cows and work for legislation in their interest. "The present regime has not yet satisfied us. Cow slaughter must be completely stopped in India," he added. Addressing the language controversy, he said, "Hindi was first recognised for administrative use. The Marathi-speaking state was formed in 1960, and Marathi was recognised later. Hindi represents several dialects — the same applies to Marathi, which has borrowed from its dialects." The seer said any violence should be treated as a criminal offence. He demanded justice in the Malegaon blast case, stating that the real culprits must be punished. "It is ridiculous that the government is celebrating Amrit Kaal while cows who provide us with milk are being slaughtered. 1 2 Bathinda: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership had struck a ₹30,000 crore "underhand deal" with Delhi-based builders to hand over 65,000 acres of Punjab land at throwaway prices to fund election campaigns across the country. Addressing a protest outside the Bathinda deputy commissioner's office, Sukhbir called AAP's land-pooling scheme a "land-grabbing scam" and vowed to continue statewide agitation until the plan was scrapped. "We will not allow an inch of land to be acquired under this scheme," he declared. He accused AAP's national convener, Arvind Kejriwal , of shifting base to Punjab unofficially, saying he had taken up residence in Mohali's Markfed office. "Similarly, Manish Sisodia was given a house next to chief minister Bhagwant Mann's in Chandigarh. Delhi politicians have taken control of Punjab's governance," Sukhbir claimed. "Only 11,000 acres were acquired in Punjab in the last 25 years, with 3,000 acres still undeveloped. Chandigarh was built on 28,000 acres 75 years ago, and 8,000 acres remain vacant. How will AAP develop 44,000 acres, including 24,000 in Ludhiana alone?" he asked. He warned that farmers would be left in limbo for years, with undeveloped land destroying livelihoods and destabilising the agricultural economy. The former deputy CM also noted that several village panchayats had passed resolutions opposing the land-pooling scheme and called for a mass movement to resist what he sees as a dangerous precedent. Former ministers Janmeja Singh Sekhon and Sikander Singh Maluka also attended the protest.
