Kendrick Lamar Trades One No. 1 For Another — And Owns The Entire Top Three

Kendrick Lamar rules Billboard's Rap Airplay chart again as 'Luther' replaces his own 'TV Off' at ... More No. 1, while he also controls the entire top three. Kendrick Lamar has been enjoying a wildly successful run on Billboard's rap charts for months now. First, he grabbed headlines and dominated multiple tallies with 'Not Like Us,' his now-Grammy-winning Drake diss track. Then came GNX, his latest studio album that's packed with hits, many of which have become radio staples as of late. This week, Lamar continues his reign on one of the most important rap rankings in the U.S., and he does so by swapping out one of his own smashes for another.
On this week's Rap Airplay chart, Lamar is back on the top, but not with the same song that was leading last frame. Instead, 'Luther,' his collaboration with SZA, lifts from No. 2 to No. 1 on the ranking, displacing one of his own tunes in the process. The cut has now spent 18 weeks on the tally, though this is only its second frame ruling the list.
Just last week, 'TV Off' was the top track across rap radio in America. The tune, which credits both Lamar and Lefty Gunplay, is pushed down to No. 2, as 'Luther' takes over once more, with DJs and radio programmers switching which GNX cut they prefer.
This frame, Lamar does something few artists will ever achieve — he controls the top three spots on one of Billboard's radio charts. Coming in behind 'Luther' and 'TV Off' is 'Squabble Up,' a solo effort and the original focus track from GNX. That tune is up to No. 3 this week, its highest placement yet on the ranking.
'Squabble Up' has now spent 19 weeks on the Rap Airplay list, one more than either 'Luther' or 'TV Off.' So far, it's only peaked at No. 3, but if its upward ascent continues, Lamar may swap out a winner for the third week in a row – earning a trio of champions in a row.
Just outside the highest tier, another GNX track is on the rise. 'Peekaboo,' which features AzChike, inches up one space to No. 13. That position represents a new peak for the tune, now in its sixth week on the Rap Airplay chart. While it still has some distance to cross before it comes close to giving Lamar one more ruler, his winning streak could continue. Even if 'Peakaboo' doesn't hit No. 1, if the cut breaks into the top 10 – which seems likely – it will be a major win for the rapper, as it's extremely rare for any act to occupy a quartet of spots inside the loftiest tier on any of Billboard's airplay tallies at the same time, especially as a lead act.

Breaking Bad creator's new show streams on Apple TV+ November 7

Apple has announced that Pluribus , a new science fiction drama from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 7. Gilligan was confirmed to be working on the project back in 2022, when Better Call Saul 's Rhea Seehorn was also announced as its primary star. Alongside the premiere date, Apple also released a short (somewhat ominous) teaser for the series that shows a hospital employee mindlessly licking donuts. Pluribus is supposed to follow "the most miserable person on Earth" (presumably Seehorn) as they "save the world from happiness," but your guess is as good as mine as to how the two tie together. Apple's penchant for backing science fiction shows has been well-documented at this point. The company is currently producing a television adaptation of William Gibson's Neuromancer , and has made three seasons and counting of Foundation , based on the novel series by Isaac Asimov. Toss in things like Severance , Murderbot , Silo and For All Mankind and you've got a pretty varied catalog of sci-fi media to choose from. Just how "science fiction" Pluribus will actually be remains up in the air. When reports went out in 2022 that Apple was ordering two seasons of the show, it was described as "a blended, grounded genre drama." Apple's premiere date announcement pitches the show as "a genre-bending original." Pluribus' nine-episode first season will premiere on November 7 with two episodes. New episodes will stream weekly after that, all the way through December 26.

Divisive new app lets women put bad dates on blast — and men are freaking out: ‘Digital vigilantism'

There's a new app causing men to break into a cold sweat — and it's not because they forgot their wallet on a first date. Tea, a women-only app that lets users post anonymous Yelp-style reviews of men they've dated, has shot to the top of the Apple App Store — and smack into the middle of a digital war between safety and slander. The platform, launched in 2023, lets women share stories and warnings about exes, Tinder flops, and potential predators. Advertisement 3 Forget ghosting — this app has men begging to be left off the grid. Studio Romantic – Users can toss out 'green flags' or 'red flags' — or, in some cases, blast a guy's entire romantic résumé into cyberspace. The feed is full of candid commentary, catfish alerts, and more than a few 'avoid this man' declarations. Advertisement 'I see men freaking out today about this Tea app,' TikTokker @azalialexi said in a recent video. 'If you don't want things like this to exist then maybe look into advocating for women's safety and actually holding your fellow men accountable.' Tea's website claims the app was born after its founder, Sean Cook, 'witnessed his mother's terrifying experience with online dating — not only being catfished but unknowingly engaging with men who had criminal records.' It now boasts nearly 1 million users, and it's not just the safety features — like reverse image search and criminal background checks — that are turning heads. The public reviews are what really set the app ablaze. Advertisement 3 Launched in 2023, the app lets women dish on shady dates, dodgy exes and full-on predators — one swipe and horror story at a time. .tiktok/@theteapartygirls 'It's kind of like a Carfax situation,' Sabrina Henriquez, 28, who found out some of her exes had less-than-stellar ratings on Tea, told The Washington Post in a recent interview. 'It kind of saved [other women] from putting themselves in that situation.' Advertisement But not everyone's here for the gossip. 'I think the app has good intentions, it's just very messy,' Donovan James, 21, also told the outlet. 'You're always going to look bad in somebody's eyes.' Others worry it's turning into digital vigilantism. Apps like these or Facebook groups like 'Are We Dating The Same Guy' are the 'equivalent of whisper networks,' Chiara Wilkinson wrote for Dazed. Or as Dazed writer James Greig put it: 'It's digital vigilantism; the TikTok equivalent of a citizen's arrest.' Douglas Zytko, a professor at the University of Michigan at Flint, said to The Washington Post that the app is filling a void dating apps never addressed: safety. 3 Still, fears of false claims linger — and TikTok is crawling with jittery dudes doom-scrolling the damage. Mdv Edwards – 'There are multiple studies now showing that around 10 percent of overall cases of sexual assault are attributed to a dating app,' he noted. Advertisement Still, false accusations remain a fear. TikTok is now flooded with men nervously scrolling. 'Hot take: The tea app is toxic,' wrote @johnnysaysgo, who had a female friend go undercover to see what women were saying about him. 'These women were clearly just upset… I was honest with them and respectful.' User @ warned: 'Be careful.' He added that he can see the 'vision' behind the app but noted that he knows 'how vile' people who might use it could be. Advertisement And users like @kristakilduff are just enjoying the drama after getting accepted into the app. 'The men are not safe,' she said with a laugh in a recent clip. 'The Tea app has me weak — stay safe.' The backlash — and buzz — around Tea is just the latest sign that the digital dating landscape is shifting, and not necessarily for the better. As The Post previously reported, not all matches made in algorithm heaven are built to last. Advertisement A new study published in Computers in Human Behavior found that married couples who met online reported lower levels of satisfaction and stability than those who met IRL — a phenomenon dubbed the 'online dating effect.' Researchers pointed to factors like geographic distance, delayed family approval and lack of shared social circles as possible causes. So, while dating apps might be great for scoring first dates and flings, they may not always deliver happily ever after.

Breaking Bad creator's new sci-fi show hits Apple in November

As promised, Apple has finally revealed Pluribus, a new show from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan that's coming to Apple TV Plus. In addition to a very brief teaser involving some gross donut behavior, the streamer also confirmed that the show will premiere on November 7th. The show has been in the works for a while, as Apple first announced that it had picked up a Gilligan project back in 2022. It stars Rhea Seehorn, who previously worked with Gilligan on Better Call Saul. But there aren't a lot of details other than that. According to Apple, the show — which is already confirmed for a second season –is about 'the most miserable person on Earth' who 'must save the world from happiness.' The rest of the cast includes Karolina Wydra, Carlos Manuel Vesga, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte. While details are slim, we do at least have one single image of Seehorn in the show: Pluribus also adds to an ever-growing lineup of science fiction series on Apple TV Plus, including recent shows like Murderbot and new seasons of Foundation and Invasion, along with upcoming projects like an adaptation of Neuromancer.
