Beloved ITV crime series AXED after a whopping 11 years on screens as bosses mark 'the end of a golden chapter for drama'
The broadcaster has confirmed Grantchester will officially come to an end as the 11th instalment kicks off filming.
Making its debut in 2014, the show, which also airs on PBS in America, stars Robson Green as Geordie alongside Rishi Nair as Alphy.
Confirming the show's end, Daisy Coulam, writer, series creator and executive producer, said: 'At its heart, Grantchester is a show about the power of friendship and love.
'We've been so lucky over the last 11 series to experience that on and off screen. For over a decade now - cast and crew (many who've been there since the beginning) have met each Summer to film.
'And it's been an absolute joy. Thank you to James Runcie for entrusting us with his characters. Thank you to the lovely people of real Grantchester.

An ITV spokesperson confirmed filming has kicked off the final ever episodes and fans can see them next year.
They've also revealed Al Weaver and Tessa Peake-Jones will reprise their roles as Leonard Finch and Mrs. C, as well as Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman, Bradley Hall as DC Larry Peters and Melissa Johns as Miss Scott.
Paying tribute to Grantchester, Robson said: 'From the very beginning, I have had the incredible fortune to be part of this extraordinary team of talented, passionate, and dedicated individuals who have become more than colleagues.
They have become family. I have made friendships forged through shared laughter, challenges, and triumphs. The bonds we've formed extend far beyond the camera lens, and I know that they will endure long after the final scene within the Grantchester world has been filmed. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.

The 11th series will be set in the heady Summer of '63 as Alphy is learning more about his past.
He comes to realize that there is a whole other life he could have led, making him question who he is and what he believes in. He's also continuing to get to know Meg, the Bishop's daughter.

Tom Brittney played fan-favourite Will in Grantchester but departed the series last year in a move that left fans devastated.
He made the decision to leave the show in 2023, explaining that it was 'time for the baton to be passed'.
At the time, one gutted fan took to X to say: 'I'm 29 years old and it's been a while since I cried at a TV show as hard as that.'
Another posted, '#Will and #Geordie's friendship is beautiful. And watching Will leave is the heartbreaking evening I was completely not ready for.'
A third added: 'Wow, Geordie to Will "I love you" and Will "I love you too". And he made Geordie proud every day.'

Georgia May Foote is reportedly still living with her husband Kris Evans despite their split. The former Coronation Street star, 34, has endured a torrid time of late after a fire ripped through her beauty business last month. And it was revealed on the weekend that she's now heading for a divorce from Kris, who she tied the knot with just two years ago in 2023. 'Everything that got stopped filming in the UK then got put on a back burner, and then there was a backlog of what was about to start filming. Then everything behind that took four years to come out, then we had the writers' strikes.' Georgia continued: 'It's just been a nightmare. And that's why this has been the quietest I've ever been in my life. I think a lot of actors around the world will say the exact time.' In addition to her lack of screen work, Georgia was dealt another devastating blow last month when her nail salon burnt down, having started the business to earn extra income amid her struggle to bag acting jobs. Georgia was forced to start a crowdfunding page to raise cash to get her company, as well as other businesses affected, back up and running. She said of the blaze: 'Within two hours the whole building was alight, and the whole thing burnt down. We weren't allowed back in there and nothing has been salvaged. 'Four years' worth of products and stock and everything. We can't get back to work without that stuff. It's thousands of pounds of stuff. You can't just go and buy it. 'I did start a fundraiser to raise some money for these ladies to help us get back on our feet and build our stock back up again that we've lost. 'It's passed the £12,000 mark. I'm really happy. It makes me really emotional to speak about it. I just know it's a lot of women's only income. I'm lucky that I still do my voiceovers and I do have jobs coming in. 'But, at the same time, I lost a lot of money in that fire. But people have lost entire homes worth of stuff that can't be replaced.'
