Hulk Hogan's cause of death revealed as Trump and Vince McMahon lead tributes
Hogan was pronounced dead at a Florida hospital after emergency personnel responded to a "medical-related call" at his home in Clearwater. A police Facebook post has since revealed the nature of the call was a cardiac arrest (heart attack).
The 71-year-old was found "experiencing a serious medical-related issue" in a house on Eldorado Avenue, Florida, and he was taken to Morton Plant Hospital. Major Nate Burnside said Hogan died in hospital and there are "no signs of foul play or suspicious activity".
WWE confirmed the sad news in a statement on social media. "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away," the statement said. "One of pop culture's most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans."
Hogan faced iconic names including Andre the Giant and Randy Savage in his illustrious pro-wrestling career, headlining the first-ever Wrestlemania in 1985 and going up against Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson at the showpiece event in 2002.
Wrestling world in mourning over death of Hulk Hogan
His last match in WWE was against Randy Orton at SummerSlam in 2006. In recent years he became an avid supporter of President Donald Trump, who led the tributes to Hogan on social media.
'Hulk Hogan was MAGA (Make America Great Again) all the way – strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart," Trump wrote. 'He entertained fans from all over the world, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!"
Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon wrote: 'The world lost a treasure today. Hulk Hogan was the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME, someone who was loved and admired around the world. He was a trailblazer, the first performer who transitioned from being a wrestling star into a global phenomenon.
'His grit and unbridled thirst for success were unparalleled - and made him the consummate performer He gave everything he had to the audience whom he appreciated, respected and loved. He leaves us with one of his favourite expressions, 'Train, take your vitamins and say your prayers'. Today, we pray for him.'
Fellow Hall of Famer Ric Flair said: "I am absolutely shocked to hear about the passing of my close friend. Hulk has been by my side since we started in the wrestling business. An incredible athlete, talent, friend, and father!"
While The Undertaker wrote: 'The wrestling world has lost a true legend. His contributions to our business are immeasurable, and for that, I am appreciative. Thank you, Hulk Hogan.'
Triple H, Kurt Angle and Sting were among the many, many more to pay tribute online. Hogan helped transform the WWE into the global phenomenon it is today, sparking a mainstream pop culture icon. His wrestling skills and personality as an all-American hero transformed the sport into mainstream family entertainment, attracting millions of viewers and turning WWE into a multi-billion-dollar empire.

Michelle Obama celebrates Barack's birthday, calling him her ‘everything' after couple joked about divorce rumors
Former first lady Michelle Obama praised former President Barack Obama as her 'everything' and the 'coolest guy I know' on his 64th birthday after the longtime couple joked about divorce rumors that have been swirling for months. 'Happy birthday to my love, my best friend, my everything! @BarackObama, even after all these years, you're still the coolest guy I know,' the former first lady posted to Instagram Monday afternoon, accompanied by a photo of the pair. Michelle Obama's birthday message followed months of speculation that the couple's more than 30-year marriage was on the rocks before the couple joked about the rumors during a July podcast. 'It's my husband, ya'll!' Michelle Obama said jokingly at the start of a podcast of 'IMO' in July when the former president first joined the set. Speculation had mounted for months that the presidential couple was headed to divorce, which heightened in January when the former first lady did not attend high-profile events such as President Donald Trump's inauguration or President Jimmy Carter's funeral. 'There hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I've thought about quitting my man,' Michelle Obama said during an 'IMO' podcast in July. 'We've had some really hard times. Michelle previously had dismissed divorce rumors, including in April when she addressed questions as to why she did not join the 44th president at Trump's inauguration or Carter's funeral. 'But the interesting thing is that when I say no, for the most part, people are like, 'I get it, and I'm OK,' right?' she told podcast host Sophia Bush in April about how she spends her time. Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. ECW legend Justin Credible has made a return to the wrestling ring, competing in his first singles match in over three years. The former ECW World Champion faced Sycho Simon for Memphis Wrestling in an episode that aired this past weekend. The bout was a No Rules match for the promotion's Heritage Title. This was Credible's first match of any kind since a battle royal appearance in April 2024. Former WWE Star's In-Ring Return Justin Credible's appearance for Memphis Wrestling marks a potential comeback for the veteran, who had teased that 2024 might be his last year in the ring. While his in-ring career has been winding down, he has remained in the public eye, though often for controversial reasons. This new match could signal a desire to have one more run in the business. It is a business that saw him reach the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. From Portuguese Man O' War to ECW Champion Many fans of the Attitude Era will remember Justin Credible's incredible transformation. He began his WWE career in the "New Generation" era as the masked, jockstrap-wearing Aldo Montoya, a comedic babyface character that saw little success. After leaving WWE, he completely reinvented himself in the hardcore environment of Extreme Championship Wrestling. I want to thank @Lauderdale11 & @GCWrestling_ for having me last night in Hartford. Not only is it great for the fans you make a veteran wrestler feel like he has a place in today's business. You guys embody the spirit of pro wrestling 🙏 — Justin Credible (@PJPOLACO) December 4, 2023 As the cocky, cane-wielding Justin Credible, he became one of ECW's top stars. His journey culminated in him winning the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, a feat that would have seemed impossible just a few years prior. He later returned to WWE as part of the X-Factor faction and The Alliance during the Invasion storyline. Brooke Hogan asked out of Hulk Hogan's will over family fears: ‘I don't know how deep this stuff goes'
Brooke Hogan has opened up about why she removed herself from Hulk Hogan's will in 2023. 'I was now pregnant with twins and married, and my husband's family is so kind and so sweet. And I have something to lose, money didn't matter,' the daughter of the WWE icon said Tuesday on former Hulk friend Bubba the Love Sponge's show. 'I was sobbing, and I just said, 'Take me off everything, I don't want to be a part of it.'' Hulk, whose real name was Terry Bollea, died at the age of 71 on July 24 after a cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Fla. Brooke, 37, said she took herself off the will to avoid potential conflicts with other family members, including her mother, Linda Hogan, and Hulk's third wife, Sky Daily. Brooke expressed concern because Linda 'has been known to kind of find herself in the mix with things like that,' and because she had heard that Daily was a Scientologist, and knew the organization had 'powerful backing.' Brooke Hogan and Hulk Hogan on Dec. 15, 2006. MediaPunch/Shutterstock 'I'm like, 'I don't want to fight Linda, I don't want to find Scientology, I don't want somebody that I love to get knocked off, I don't know how deep this stuff goes,'' Brooke said. 'It scared me, and I just said, 'I want out.'' She did qualify that remark by saying she had 'no problem' with Daily, who she said was always nice to her. She then added that she hopes her father would have trusted her with his intellectual property and trademarks, because she 'would have done the right thing.' Brooke Hogan and Hulk Hogan on Dec. 2, 2006. REUTERS 'I would have made him an Elvis legacy, or a Marilyn Monroe legacy, or a Selena [Quintanilla-Perez] legacy,' she said. 'And I hope that whoever has his marks does that. I just know that the people around him are pretty shady and not in his best interest.' Brooke was not in attendance at Hogan's 2023 wedding with Daily, and TMZ reported that Brooke and Hulk had their last conversation two weeks before the wedding. In an Instagram post last week, Brooke honored her father in a post that said: 'You were my everything and I will always be your daughter – for all the love, light and goodness you brought into this world.'
