SAD to intensify agitation against Punjab govts land pooling scheme
A resolution to this effect was passed at a meeting of the party's core committee here which was presided over by SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The resolution declared, among other things, that the next dharna against this scheme will be held at Bathinda on August 4 and Patiala on August 11 to be followed by similar protests at all other district headquarters.
Earlier on Monday, the SAD chief at a dharna in Mohali called the land pooling scheme a 'land grabbing scheme".
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has been facing flak from the opposition parties, which dubbed its land pooling policy a 'looting" scheme to 'rob" the farmers of their land.
The AAP has out at the opposition parties for spreading misleading propaganda against the state government's land pooling policy, with party leaders describing it as 'farmer-friendly".
The Punjab Cabinet had last month given its nod to the land pooling policy and asserted that not a single yard would be forcibly acquired from the landowners.
Under the land pooling policy, an owner will be given a 1000 square yards of residential plot and a 200 square yards of commercial plot in fully developed land in lieu of one acre of land, the state government had said.
After clearing the policy last month, the government had said that it was designed to foster transparent and planned urban development across the state.
Meanwhile, Badal before the core committee meeting flagged off the SAD's statewide campaign, 'Proud to be Akali" (Mainu Maan Akali Hon Te) by releasing and pasting stickers on the party workers' vehicles and also releasing flags to be hoisted on homes of all workers and supporters. PTI SUN AS AS

Land pooling policy: SAD accuses Ayali of colluding with AAP
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday alleged that Dakha MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali colluded with the AAP government to get his land excluded from the land pooling policy, even as adjoining land, belonging to farmers, had been notified for acquisition. Refuting the allegations, Dakha MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali said: 'As much as 150 acres of land owned by my family and the company has come under the land pooling scheme in three villages, Dakha, Birmi and Kailpur. The 58-acre project, Ananta, was given permission during the Congress party regime.' (HT File) Addressing a press conference, SAD leader Parambans Singh Romana alleged that Ayali had gone silent on the AAP government's 'land grabbing' scheme after his land was excluded. 'Ayali should disclose what settlement he has done with the AAP leadership to secure this reprieve,' Romana said. Romana also showed documents and maps, which he claimed showed how one chunk of land, including a 28-acre plot of Avanta Enclave, owned by the Ayali family and another 7.5 acres had been left out of the ambit of the land pooling scheme. Refuting the allegations, Ayali said: 'As much as 150 acres of land owned by my family and the company has come under the land pooling scheme in three villages, Dakha, Birmi and Kailpur. The 58-acre project, Ananta, was given permission during the Congress party regime.' He further said he will not give even an inch of land to the government under the pooling policy.

One Portal, Many Clearances: Fadnavis Pushes For Seamless Business Approvals In Maharashtra

(PTI) In a major push to make Maharashtra a more business-friendly state, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that all industrial approvals will now be available online through the state's unified Maitri Portal. The move is aimed at eliminating red tape, improving ease of doing business, and accelerating Maharashtra's journey toward becoming a $1 trillion economy. Speaking at a high-level meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, Fadnavis emphasised that industries must get quick access to essential infrastructure and approvals such as water supply, electricity, road connectivity, environmental and forest clearances, labour law compliance, and land allotments. To make this possible, all departments have been directed to integrate their services with the Maitri Portal and make the approval process completely digital and time-bound. The chief minister also asked departments to enable anonymous complaint registration on the portal. 'If any entrepreneur is facing challenges or hurdles from a department, they should have a platform to report it without fear," he said. The chief minister also directed the water resources department to ensure water supply to industrial zones as per demand and sought priority building of power substations in areas like Majalgaon, Dighi, Butibori, Chamorshi (Gadchiroli), Jaipur (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), and PM Mitra (Amravati). To address transmission and maintenance issues for industrial electricity supply, he suggested setting up a separate mechanism. Fadnavis stressed that all environmental approvals should be made online via Maitri, and asked the PWD to expedite work on connecting the Shendra-Bidkin industrial node to the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Given the growing interest in Butibori for new investments, he also ordered immediate improvement in road connectivity in the region. The CM made it clear that industries must get 'Consent to Establish' and 'Consent to Operate' within defined timelines. He also asked to do away with unnecessary licenses and surprise inspections. A revised, unified policy for land allotment and labour procedures is also in the pipeline. Fadnavis further proposed that areas with established MIDC clusters should be declared 'industrial townships", which would help resolve double-taxation issues. He also directed that eligibility certificates be issued online for ease of access.
