The head of the Media and Communication Sector expressed his appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in advancing the directives of the Council of Arab Information Ministers aimed at developing Arab media, enhancing the professional competencies of Arab media professionals, and reinforcing an open, cooperative approach within the sector.
This approach fosters collaboration with government media bodies in member states, as well as with organisations and unions operating under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, to establish a media landscape that is more attuned to the pressing concerns of the Arab world.

Egyptian FM: No Mideast Stability Without Palestinian Solution

H-Tayea Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized that Egypt continues to work tirelessly to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, stating that Cairo is engaged in coordinated efforts with Qatar and the United States to halt what he described as 'ongoing crimes and systematic starvation' in the Gaza Strip. These efforts have been sustained for over 21 months since the events of October 7, 2023. In an interview on the ON TV program Kelma Akhira, Abdelatty noted that the current geopolitical context is more favorable for reaching an agreement on Gaza, citing increased recognition among key international actors, especially the US, of Egypt's comprehensive vision. He stressed that peace and stability in the Middle East are impossible without addressing the root of the conflict: the Israeli-Palestinian issue, with the Palestinian cause at its core. 'The message is now clear to Israel: there will be no security or stability without resolving the Palestinian issue and achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace,' he stated, adding that this stance is increasingly echoed by the European Union and other global powers. Responding to a question on recent remarks by US President Donald Trump about a potential Gaza agreement in the coming weeks, Abdel Aaty affirmed the seriousness of American engagement. 'This is true. The January 19 ceasefire agreement in Gaza would not have been possible without the intervention of the current US administration,' he said, pointing to Washington's influence and Egypt's desire for further American involvement. He added that while the January agreement yielded promising results, Israel later violated the truce and resumed attacks without justification, despite a previously positive diplomatic climate. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Turkey spy chief talks Gaza truce with senior Hamas leader - War on Gaza

Turkey's intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin met senior Hamas officials on Sunday to discuss the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and efforts to secure a permanent ceasefire, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency. Kalin held talks with Mohammad Darwish, head of Hamas's political council in Gaza, and his delegation at an undisclosed location, Anadolu reported, citing Turkish security sources. The discussions focused on what was described as the "humanitarian tragedy" unfolding in Gaza under Israel's full military blockade, and on Turkey's efforts to 'ensure the immediate passage of aid' and help bring an end to the war. According to the sources, the two sides also discussed 'the need to reach a consensus among Palestinian groups during this critical period' and steps toward achieving a lasting ceasefire. The meeting followed comments by US president Donald Trump, who on Friday voiced optimism about a potential deal between Israel and Hamas, saying a ceasefire could be reached 'within the next week'. Mediators have spent months pushing for an agreement to halt Israel's 20-month war on Gaza, which has killed more than 56,000 Palestinians, destroyed large parts of the territory, and displaced nearly the entire population. Israel imposed a total blockade more than two months ago, cutting off food, water and aid, prompting UN agencies to warn of impending famine. Under mounting pressure, Israel later approved a restricted aid mechanism through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), operated in coordination with Israeli forces and private US contractors. Aid groups say the system has become a means of control, not relief, with limited access and repeated Israeli attacks on Palestinians gathering at aid points. Multiple incidents have been reported of civilians being shot while trying to access food, with human rights monitors accusing Israeli forces of targeting aid seekers with impunity. The International Court of Justice has ruled that Israel must prevent acts of genocide, while humanitarian organisations and legal experts say the campaign bears the hallmarks of one. *This story was edited by Ahram Online.
